  1. I have just gotten home from taking my little cavvie girl Fern to the emergency vets. I came home this afternoon and she was not in my yard. I went out looking for her and didn't have to go very far. Walking down my court carrying my little girl in her arms were two young ladies who asked if she was my dog. She had been found in grassland near my house and these two girls had found her and begun knocking on doors. The girl holding Fern said she had hurt her leg and wanted to show me. She put her on the ground and Fern was holding up her back leg and was in a lot of pain. So off to the vets I go, thinking she has broken it somehow. Well, they poked and prodded and xrayed and it is dislocated. She is being put under anesthetic to put it back into place about now. She has a heart murmur so I am worried about the anethestic.
  2. I love them both as you already know. I WILL be coming for Badger and Ivy cuddles in the not too distant future and you better check my bags when I leave in case I squeeze him in there!!! Love the pic of him standing in the yard in the middle of the shot with Ivy off to the side. He has gotten so big from those first baby puppy pics you sent me. And his personality just fits in so well with you and Ivy. You have a great Puppy there, and he has a great Mummy and big sister and a fantastic home. Well done with him, you made the right choice!!! I'm sure he will get on just as well with Abby and Fern when you come to visit me
  3. My friends have Rotti's and you couldn't ask for sweeter dogs in fact the big boy would climb into your lap given the chance. I think BYBers have alot to do with this misconception, as well as some unsuitable owners and alot of bad press. Possibly, I think it is like a lot of the larger breed dogs, the few give the rest of the breed a bad reputation. Abby is such a sweetie, she just lives for cuddles and playing, and when that little boy comes outside, all her christmas's have come at once. Abby is constantly clibing up for a cuddle and when the boyfriend comes to visit, I quite often have to shut her outside just so I can get near him, She is all over him like a rash too. Very much a people dog.
  4. The worst one I had was that my Rottie was a child killer. My sister said that to me about 12 months ago before I even got her, and among a few other things, that is the reason we do not speak anymore. Apparently all Rotties are vicious child killers and he partner was once walking a dog who stuck it's head under the fence where a rottie lived and he pulled the lead back out to find a dog with no head. Did I mention my Rottie loves all the kids in my street and regurlarly comes out to play with them all, and the little 3 year old boy next door is constantly rolling around in my driveway with her!!! I would love for all people with this misconception to come and watch her with the boy next door.
  5. Wow Lisa, What a sexy boy!!! His ears look great compared to last time I saw him. Fingers crossed for you that they do stay that way.
  6. Strange how a breeder doing it about a puppy placement gets a different reaction though isn't it? She had no breeder in mind, was only tossing around the idea of a few different breeds. She was looking at a Lappie at one stage too, why not have a go over that too. Breeders do change their minds about puppy placement, frequently. If you have a problem with what BB has done or is doing, then I suggest you politely discuss it with her in a PM. This is not the place to be ragging on people.
  7. Oh wow you're a Belgianite too! Stunning breed. I was tossing up between another Belgian or a Pointer. Actually found another English Pointer breeder over East and she's been really wonderful. I have two liver boys to pick from and one is defiantly mine. He arrives in 23 days hehe. I much much prefer this breeder to the first, so I'm VERY glad the first one fell through!! Even though it sucked at the time. Have photos of both boys but won't post until I know for certian which is mine. The one I want is show quality but has a non show tail .. called a flag tail .. so we just have to see if that corrects itself, which it probably won't. Hopefully for me, his tail stays incorrect hehe, as I'm not showing. So what happened to the grey Terv you were definitely getting BB? :D Sometimes things change PF. She obviously decided to go with a different breed and she has her reasons. She has already said that she decided to go with a shortcoat breed.
  8. I was always told that at 2 years they are generally finished growing. I guess physically they are no longer puppies at about this age then. Mentally, that is a whole different story!!!
  9. My Rottie, Abby, grew up with pugs, and everytime she sees a pug she bounds over and wants to play. Our first day at dog training there was a lady with a pug puppy. She was really worried this big black dog was going to eat her puppy. I had to explain very quickly why she reacted that way!!!
  10. She's a pretty quiet dog, only barks when there is something to bark at. I have been working on speak with her for the 6 months that I have had her and now I am confident enough to say that I have had success!!!
  11. She knows the hand signal and a stomp of the foot, not so much a verbal command. She will do it at the moment everytime i have her squeeky toy in my hand, or if we are playing out the front. She doesn't bark un necessarily, only when there is someone she doesn't know outside or on the command or if we are rough housing with her sometimes she will bark. Thanks Jess, it has always been the one thing that we have all struggle to teach her.
  12. I am getting somewhere teaching my rottie, Abby, to speak!!! For so long she has just thrown her head to the side when given the speak command, and that has been praised, now she is barking every time (except when I was trying to show my partner I can get her to do it, she just had to make me look bad!!) I am having the best time training her, she is just a delight. For someone who has only had small dogs before, Abby is just pure joy. I am so glad she is my first Rottie, now I will never look back. Thanks for giving me a go with her Lisa!!
  13. I saw the thread yesterday with her picture in it and loved her smiling face, was going to show my BF tonight. Would also have taken her in a heartbeat. She is just gorgeous. RIP beautiful girl
  14. Awww Chels, it's not something we ever get over. And it's this time of year makes it all the more harder with the memories of those who aren't here with us to share the season. One day you, Ivy and Penny will be able to all play together. Thinking of you.
  15. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I actually read your story yesterday, and was unable to reply at the time, I am another one you had in tears. Treasure your memories with your baby bear. They are one of your most precious possessions now. Hugs to you and your hubby :D
  16. I am so sorry to hear that you lost your girl so suddenly. At least you have all those precious memories, and you know that her life was better for knowing you and your family.
  17. To start with I just want to say that I am glad I found this forum. I really like the idea of rainbow bridge, and I hope that my little boy is there, happy and healthy. Well, my little Muffin, my beautiful little long haired chihuahua, has been gone for over three years now, sometimes it seems like only yesterday. Sometimes I forget you're actually gone. You were so sick in the end that you could barely walk, but you always managed to stand up and wag that tail of yours when your daddy came outside. Oh yes, you were definately daddy's boy, through and through. Now that daddy has passed on as well, I hope wherever you are, you are together. I know how happy you made each other. I remember when I was younger, I took you for a walk. I tripped over and cut my knee. I droppped the leash, I was so scared you would run away, but you came and sat with me until I could get up and walk home And we always knew that the neighbours kid jumped the fence and kicked you. We never could prove it though. You got 2 broken ribs from that. I'm so sorry that had to happen to you, you were the sweetest gentlest little boy ever. You got your own back though, you bit the little shit the next time he came over. In the end you were so sick, boy, and the kindest thig we could do for you was let you go, but that vet we were taking you to said to just keep giving you the drugs. You weren't going to get any better, you had a good life, I hope, so we took you to another vet for their opinion. When we were all ready, we cleaned you up as best we could without hurting you, took of your collar, and tookyou away to the vet for the last time. I never saw my dad cry, but he did then. he held you as you went to sleep. I don't think either of you realised just how quickly he would be joining you. I hope you were comfortable my baby boy. We got you from the shelter when you were 18 months old, I was 5 at the time. You were almost 19 when you went to sleep for the last time. You were my best friend and i love you still.
