I leave 2 at home and have people come over and play with them and walk them and the other one (fence jumper) goes to the kennel as I don't want anyone to have to worry about her escaping on them while they are there playing with them.

Growing up on the farm we had 2 rules that we were taught from day dot, 1. Treat every gun as if it is loaded. 2. Treat every hosre as if it kicks - therefore never walk behind any horse. Same as with parents having to teach their kids how to behave around dogs they should teach their kids how to behave around livestock if they are going to be interacting with them.

I met one once - a gorgeous little fella happy as anything - unfortunately it was through my Pets at Peace job, he was about to be PTS as he had been declared a dangerous dog and his owners could not afford the fines nor the cost of building the pen to keep him in. He had dug a hole under the fence and killed the neighbours rabbit.

Froggy steals the other dogs toys and hide them under a wheelbarrow that we have in the backyard leaning up against the fence and her other quirk is turning the toes of her back left foot under when she does a wee.

Can I ask why you would not say this if it is the case The poster is telling the truth to the breeder/s which it should be, if she didnt tell it as it was and got on here later and said she actually got the dog for her son half of you would be up in arms that she didnt state tht in the beginning. Maybe I should have worded what I meant better, perhaps it would be better to state that it would be a family dog who would be company for the whole family and she thinks this may be of benefit to his well being of her 3 year old son, as I am sure if you said that you wanted the dog for a 3 year old many breeders would see it as highly irresponsible as they may see it as you expecting them (the 3 year old) to be responsible for the dog.

I attend greater western for agility It's lots of fun I don't do obedience there though as I live in Orange and neither of their times fit in with my work.

I was watching that ring waiting for the gundogs to finish so I could watch the next group in that same ring, there were a decent amount of goldens, they seemed to go on for a lot longer than most of the other breeds - sorry I cant be more specific. It was very cold and wet so I only stuck around for a few hours but in that time I saw some very lovely dogs (and some very cold ones).

The jucier the better when it comes to my dogs, but yeah being vego would make it hard

I emailed Billabong Creek Puppy Farm asking why if I bought a pup from them it was essential that it was desexed before they would sell it to me, the response. 'Because it is a pet, and not tempted to be used as a breeding animal. Our desexing policy will be mandatory soon for all pets sold, so we are doing the responsible thing in this regard already by desexing all pets prior to sale.'

But Billabong are so thoughtful! They bathe the puppy before it leaves so that it washes away its old smells and odours so that it forgets its siblings and its mother and helps it settle into your home quicker. It says it right there on their website, they must be responsible

Interesting about the vaccination before selling law in Vic, is the law the same in NSW?

Maybe if she ends up at the pound when she gets out they may try harder to keep her in in the future. My girl was desexed when I got her at 1 and a half, she was an escape artist and a roamer, I built a pen quick smart to keep her in while I was not home and when I was home she was either inside with me or I was outside with her. These days - at 8 and a half - she is a little more trust worthy (or maybe it's just age limitimg her jumping ability) and can be in the back yard without me and she gets to hang out with the other dogs. She is still put in her pen while I'm not home though as I don't want to risk her getting that one big spurt of energy that will get her over the fence. Man I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I bought a staffy - it has sure been one big life lesson - but I know now I will never be without one

If it doesn't willingly come up I will throw treats in its general direction, sometimes works sometimes doesn't. I used my dog to lure an escaped guard dog last week, it was a little scarey though as when we walk past it when it's on duty it goes nuts and tries to jump the fence to get us, when I saw it out it approached us with its hackles up so was not sure what it was going to do, I walked briskly back around the corner and walked me and my dog into the shop where it came from and asked the guy to please go and put his dog away.

Is there a need to cook it when using it for training? Chances are she would enjoy it better raw.

I tried teaching one of my dogs to tug after going to the Susan Garrett course using one of the mesh food bags but she REALLY doesn't like putting anything in her mouth (other than food), so I decided just to use other methods. It was stressing her our to put the bag in her mouth and she would much prefer to jump up and have a cuddle or to have a food treat.

What?? You mean people have dogs that don't climb?? I need to do some research into these types of dogs before I get another Hubby is a builder and sometimes brings his ladders in the backyard and leans them up against the fence so I have to go lay them down so that the dogs don't go up them and over the fence. Froggy has a plank (kinda like the walk on of a dog walk) to get into the second storey of her kennel. One day I was on the roof putting up Christmas lights and turned around to see Saxon half way up the ladder - not a skill I have taught any of them but they just do it!

Blankets become tug toys here too, but they just keep getting washed and thrown back into the kennels until they are totally shredded. They also have lounge cushions in their kennels, they do get destroyed occasionally and make quite a mess but they are easily replaced at the next large rubbish council curb side collection I have also used straw in the past, it is very warm but have been told that fleas thrive in it - we are lucky here though as fleas aren't a huge problem

When someone approaches you to buy one of your pups at what point do you give them the contract - presuming it is being sold on a contract - to read? Is it before you approve them as a buyer? Once you have selected the pup you have decided is the one for them? or at some other point?
