  1. Thanks shellbyville that is what I was thinking of. Granted didnt realise they were that dear. Think I will just get a babies bath and put it on the outdoor table.... :D
  2. The house doesnt have a laundry room as such. The laundry tub is in the garage and to be able to use it I would have to move the car. The washing machine is out in the back shed so I can use the gray water and that doesnt have a laundry tub.
  3. sounds a lot like my old tool and it was brillaint for splitting mats, knots and made grooming easier thats for sure. will check out petnetwork as well Will go looking, thank you
  4. Thanks Sheridan, I would be interested in learning more about "the stuff", do you have a web site. Would that work on coats already matted? Get a few in via rescue that can have quite a few mats in their coat and sometimes you dont want to clip the entire coat off if you can help it
  5. I have a dematting rakey thing its about 10yrs old and is buggered. Need to update to a newer one. There seems to be a few different ones on the market. Any suggestions as to which is better and would be suitable for Old English Sheepdogs?
  6. I saw a while ago there was a smaller version of a dog bath that is suitable for small dogs, looks like a babies bath on legs. Does anyone know the name or it or where you can get one from? Just looking at something small to do the yorkies in and that doesnt kill the back as well
  7. Bugger, I hope she improves quickly and all is well. What a shocking situation
  8. Glad to hear she is doing well. Love the fact that is is part of the family and gets to sleep inside. Hope Nala settles and stops destroy the pillows.........lol
  9. only just saw this, I would advantix, its only a flea and tick prevention and can see how it would cause any problems. Do you need anything for her?
  10. Thank you very much Morgan, I have printed it out and will take it with me as I get stressed and forget to ask questions. I have emailed Robert McDowell and will see what suggestions he comes back with.
  11. Thanks everyone for advice, Jed, he gets raw chicken neck, wings, frames, lamb flaps, shanks etc what ever I have on hand and has a Hills yorkie dry food. I also give sardines, barf patties. Good to hear about the anaesthetic. Morgan, I was only given calcium 1.5mls twice daily to give to him after the first break and didnt think to question it. I didnt think to crate him outside for a while in the sun with the Symphytum in a 30x strength, cod liver oil and dolomite powder how much and how often? Dont want to over dose him Will also get some vit C Appreciate everyones advice. Its heart breaking to see him so flat and uncomfortable Just goes to show I should have asked the list for advice first time as everyone has a wealth of information and it might have helped stop this happening
  12. I have a yorkie that broke his leg in Nov 07, spent 10 weeks in plaster, checked every 3 weeks under general and replasted. He has been out of plaster now for 3 weeks and today wouldn’t walk on it again, back to the vet and he has rebroken it have no idea as to how. Vet isn’t sure if it just hasn’t healed correctly in the first place or not. Now they want to pin and place screws to hold it together on a more permanent basis. When he broke it the first time he broke both bones ulna and radius. Just wondering how successful this will be as it was hard enough keeping him confined for 10 weeks before, I know hes only little but he hated being confined Has anyone had to have there dogs leg pinned if so what was the outcome like, any health issue for your dog etc. Also have been quoted $2000 but could be more, does this sound about right? Also have concerns about a little dog having so many generals in such a short space of time. He weights 1.5 kilos He has his leg currently in plaster until tomorrow when he will be operated on.
  13. I am going to have a chat with some puli people and see what they recommend. Never really needed on beofre as I cheated and took them to the groomers Thanks everyone
  14. The oldfields looked ok but as you said so mnay to choose from and I would like to pick a good one to start with. Ashka1, Which oldfield would you get if you were to up grade, I realize a newfoundland and a OES coat is different but if I could get a dryer that would make drying the oes easier is also a bonus. I have sent a email to a couple of places but havent heard back yet, hopefully they will also give me some ideas.
  15. Thanks for the impute everyone, please keep them coming I dont have any preference as long as it drys well, happy to look at all types. Just wanted to hear from what type other people use. Poodle3081 do you have a Double K Airmax, any problems, do they have a web site Ari, what do you mean (A force would be too strong wouldn't it)? What type of coat would it suit. My current dryer is a little turbodry brand from a shop in Rosebud vic, that I purchased when I first got my OES and that was over 10yrs ago and it was never good enough to dry her in full coat. It works well for the yorkies.
  16. I am looking at updating my dryer as the one I currently have isnt powerful enough to dry a Puli in cords. Can anyone recommend a dryer that would be powerful enough but not super noisy, also dont want to spend thousands either.
  17. My OES when he was a pup was a nut and forever jumping and putting his back or hips out. George out near the airport was wonderful to him and had him back in great shape in no time, that was over 7yrs ago. Its very frustrating when they do silly thing. Hope your boy is OK
  18. I just read 4paws and your reply put 2 and 2 together and got 5 :D Hopefully you wont have any problems at the other shop. If your not sure which ones to get you could always get a mixed variety bag and see how that goes. It is cheaper to make your own, especially if your able to go into one of the markets egthe queen vic or even footscray market depending on where you live. Baiada poulty in pipe rd laverton has good prices on chicken and its heap cheaper then safeway etc I use to go once a month and it would cost be around $100 for meat and chicken and $30 for vegies and I was able to feed around 8 large rescue dogs for the month easy usually with leftover
  19. I found Phillipia (sp) and Ian at 4paws very helpful, they have always helped with stuff for my rescue dog and always willing to offer advice, helpful suggestions. I would ring back and ask again. You might have spoken to one of the younger staff members that isnt as up to date on all the produces
  20. Thanks BC but I was asking if anyone know of any groomers, not a response of "you will need to find the energy to do it". I will not go into why I dont have the engery to do it myself here. I am fully aware of what is involved in grooming and the breeder is also fully aware of everything relating to the dog in question. I was under the impression that this was a list where one could ask for assistance when needed? If anyone does know or can recommend a groomer please do so.
  21. I am looking for a groomer on the south side of Brisbane around logan area if possible. I need assistance with my Puli, must know the breed and what is required in grooming her. I dont have the energy to do it and would like to keep her in coat if possible.

    Iko

If I remember Iko was the one that ended up in melton pound and you went out of your way to ensure she was fine while in the pound doing her time. I remember visiting the pound. Sorry to hear what you have been through never a easy decision, but done with love and that was more then what she had before she was lucky enough to find you and your mum.
  23. Thanks everyone, I will try the toast She is a lovely girl and such a wiggle bum and has decided that she cant leave my other OES side and he is fine with her and he even tries to share his pigs ears with her but she has no idea. He is such a carebear. I will see what the vet suggests and try and get some photos of her today.
