  1. Nope, not kind....just honest!! And I for one can say that your eye and the mental picture you create is impeccable!!!!!!! PS...and I like that you added a little bit of your own "winning luck" to the combo too....a Royal BOB at its first outing isn't to be sneezed at!!!! I didn't go to any summer shows that were suitable for re-wearing this beautiful blouse....but I'm going to a 30th birthday party on Saturday night and I'll be wearing it then!
  2. Sequins have their place. I'd think that the BIS ring at Crufts and the Group/BIS ring at Westminster are amongst them. But it would be a bit OTT for the classes even for the most flamboyant of us I'd imagine! Does anybody remember a certain flamboyant Afghan exhibitor from NSW and his gold shoes? I LOVED those shoes. I found a pair similar to them a couple of years ago and Mr Ellz wouldn't let me buy them!
  3. And NOBODY has better taste than you MM!!! Do you have ANY fashion malfunctions to share with us? I HONESTLY doubt it though......you're just pure class. And I truly mean that!
  4. http://www.dogworld.co.uk/News/11-breaking MORAY Armstrong, co-handler of Crufts BIS, the Hungarian Vizsla Sh Ch/Aus Ch Hungargunn Bear Itn Mind (Yogi), has been banned from showing at, judging or attending any KC licensed event for a year for threatening and intimidating a judge. At a disciplinary hearing at the Kennel Club today, Mr Armstrong admitted distressing Rachel Herbert after the open dog class at Welsh Kennel Club last year when he won the RCC with Yogi. He told her she would not judge again, that she had cost Mr Armstrong BIS and that she would pay for it. The Disciplinary Sub-Committee heard there had been a complaint against Mr Armstrong - whose wife Kathryn co-owns Yogi – relating to his behaviour towards a judge after being awarded the RCC at Three Counties in 2005, for which he received a warning. Opinions???
  5. Err...and folks...what about the colours?
  6. I hope she's hiding at least one in there for you, but I have to be honest and say that by 7 weeks u/s or no u/s, you should be starting to see some pretty definite signs, especially in a bitch which has had a previous litter. Even Vanni (Am Cocker), in coat and a maiden had shown me that she was in whelp by then and she only had the 2. It was really only the movements from around week 7 onwards that were a giveaway. They weren't strong, but they were there. It was easier to feel them if she was laying quietly on her side and I slipped a hand underneath her belly and put my other on top and lay next to her. It was easier then to differentiate the "puppy thumps" from other goings on inside. for you!
  7. I know...it's not fair that they are all spoilsports and won't share!
  8. I wouldn't be able to get there in time but I know who I could donate a ticket to! And they would possibly even wear After 5 PJs!
  9. Ahhhh yes.....the infamous Hound ring acrobatic stunts! I confess that I did that too...except it was with a Saluki and I was 7 months pregnant. It had been raining at the show grounds, the ground was slippery underfoot and I went boring around the corner with my puppy Saluki and felt my legs going. I landed with a splash in front of him, scared the bejesus out of him AND the judge but being the trooper I am, I got up, kicked off my shoes and kept on running! Won BOB and Puppy In Group with the Saluki. That afternoon the same judge watched me VERY carefully during Stafford judging and gave me BOB and Aust Bred In Group with the comment that she wondered if I would be able to walk because I'd hit the deck that hard earlier. Funniest thing is that a friend of mine and my families, who I have known since my father worked with him when I was in high school has started showing dogs now and one of the first things he said to me was "I hear you fall down a lot...that'll be fun to watch". Now I'm SUPER careful where I plant my feet, I don't want to give him ammunition...he's cheeky enough!
  10. Mine was $70 for the u/s. And then it was $75 for the xray. They initially said it would only cover one film but they had such a hard time getting clear shots they ended up taking about 13 with two vets doing them and they still only charged me the basic fee.
  11. Or your Cuddlee!! You could put a belt around it, put on some blingy slippers and earrings and you're dressed in style!
  12. Why? Peanut gallery makes good points!
  13. ABSOLUTELY!!!! I've got cotton for warmer weather and fleece for the real cold stuff!!
  14. That's what has inspired me! I've even got a choice of colours....I can wear pink or green!
  15. I wanna go and wear my Cuddlee!!!
  16. At least they had them on the first place :D Yes you guessed, young girl, bent over and whammo nothing but flesh. :D Actually Firestone, funny you should mention this....Mr Ellz pointed out to me a couple of shows ago that whilst some of our young and very attractive AND nubile Junior Handlers dress very well, they could pay more attention to their undergarments (or lack thereof)!
  17. The first Mr Ellz managed to win a Sydney Royal BOB wearing jeans and a t-shirt. We'd rocked up to the Royal with a Junior dog at a reasonably competitive time in American Cockers so the LAST thing we expected was for our Junior to win Dog CC (and his title). Our friend who had been handling him got Bitch CC with her bitch and we suddenly looked at each other with a real "oh shit" expression when we realised that SOMEBODY was going to have to take Robbie back in for the breed, only both of us had dressed somewhat "down" for the occasion. He won because he at least wasn't covered in dog hair after trimming and grooming all morning! Thank goodness Sydney isn't judged out to Group on the day because our friend cracked it and went home leaving us to take Robbie back for Specials day. I can only imagine the looks if he'd had to take the dog back in dressed in his casual gear. I have a feeling it may have been a mad dash into the city to buy something more suitable!
  18. Way back "when" on a certain dog show orientated email list, myself and a few others were shouted down because we were "doomsayers" when we said that the ultimate aim of certain animal rights organisations is to outlaw the ownership of ALL companion animals. This started with tail docking (ear cropping is a moot point because it has been illegal for so many years in Australia anyway), it will progress through dew claws, right through various entire breeds until the only place your grandchildren will be able to see a dog is either behind bars at a zoo, or in photographs. The writing is on the wall now and doomsayer or no, there seems to be little that can be done to stop the momentum from gathering.
  19. I quickly learned that whilst petticoats and half slips are a good idea for business dressing, they can cause issues of their own at dog shows! And....COME ON GUYS!!! THIS THREAD IS FOR PHOTOS!!!!!!
  20. Yes, but this kind of thing is usually handled at "breeder level" and not on a website.
  21. Absolutely agree. That's why my home phone number is clearly displayed on the contact page of my website, together with my email address and a contact form. As I said, I'll reply to landlines or emails but I won't/can't reply to mobiles. If that is the only method of communication a party leaves, then unless they contact me again, there is no reply. I don't state this on my website but perhaps I should. Editing to add: With regards to your first sentence. Unfortunately, you'd be surprised how many prospective puppy people DO expect calls etc to come from the breeders' pockets. It is almost like they think that you are paying for their "browsing" time. And something else that is an issue for most breeders I would imagine is when people ring at absolutely absurd times and then get "narky" because the breeder isn't in a position to drop everything and talk to them, then and there.
  22. I prefer email contact initially and I don't reply to mobile numbers because I can't. If somebody contacts me via my website, doesn't leave an email address or landline number and only leaves a mobile, they don't get a return call. The 'I don't call mobile phone numbers back" thing from breeders really put me off as well. It gave me the impression that the breeder was rude and demanding and cheap. Sorry, but that's how it comes across, especially when it's typed IN BOLD on the website contact page. It kind of shocked me just how many breeders have it on their websites though. I guess it might cost more from a country number to call a mobile? Perhaps an explanation of this may be more polite as I don't have a landline either anymore and I felt a bit scared even leaving a message...Skype anyone? Not everybody is in a position to use all of the latest technology and as a breeder who fields MANY contacts each week via email and telephone, there is simply no way I could AFFORD to reply to every single message I get with a mobile as the only form of contact. You may not understand it, but the "average" conversation about a breed can take upwards of 30 minutes. If I had 20 cents for every call I've had which has taken well over an hour I'd be very wealthy. I'm just glad that I'm not paying for them. It's amazing how many red herrings a caller can throw into a conversation and how many "Ol' Yella" stories you have to hear about their long-deceased dog that was the best thing on four legs and they want one just like it. Why should that come out of my pocket? Sorry if I sound glib and sarcastic but I don't make money out of this, so I don't see why I should have to lose even more money returning mobile phone calls. If I lose potential puppy sales because of the shallow reason of my inability/refusal to return mobile phone calls, then chances are the person may not have been somebody I would have allowed one of my puppies to go to anyway. Either way, I'll never know and I don't lose sleep over it!
  23. Ahhhh.....on that subject, I have just one word for you................ENELL!!! I will never wear another "undergarment" to show in now. I cannot recommend them highly enough!!!
  24. Awwww...come on ladies. Be brave! I've opened myself up for ridicule.....come join me!
