  1. I am appalled that people think it is ok to sell a dog that doesn't belong to them. Regardless of motive. I'm still wondering where anybody said anything about selling a dog?
  2. Thanks Oakway but it would seem that Greytmate has knowledge about me and my motives that I don't know about myself! There are always dogs available for rescue, but bitches in whelp do require special care which I do believe I am qualified for. But never mind, I won't bother offering again. I'll just go and pat my GAP greyhound and remind him how lucky he is that I took him on with profit in mind!
  3. No wonder people don't want to help if this is how they are treated. My offer still stands, no matter how distasteful it may seem to you. I'm sure others will see it in the spirit in which it has been offered.
  4. Wouldn't matter to me if she were 8 months or 8 years, my offer would STILL stand. The assumption that money motivates my offer is somewhat distatsteful to me. Perhaps read my offer again. I mention PLACING puppies....not SELLING puppies. I also mention giving the girl a forever home if she fits in here.....finding her a forever home if she doesn't. Nowhere is money mentioned.
  5. Lots of coulds and shoulds, but will they happen? Regardless, my offer still stands.
  6. Personally all of my puppies are fed by demand, not weight and at that age, would still be getting at least two meals per day. I prefer to feed at least twice daily until around 12 months but do find that some puppies will start regularly refusing one of the meals by around 9 - 10 months per day. At this stage, I'm generally feeding almost the equivalent of a meal in training treats spread through the day anyway so provided there is no major weight loss, you might be guided by this. As far as holding the leftovers from a meal over to the next meal, because I usually feed the same at all meals, it doesn't really apply to me, but if you are finding that the puppy is refusing one kind of food in favour of another....then in order to ensure that it eats well at all meals, I'd either stop offering the yummier stuff that is leftover, or alternatively split it so that it gets the same at all meals. But that's just me....others would probably do differently.
  7. Healthy dogs won't normally starve themselves so don't worry about taking the kibble away after the 15 minutes. If he is going to be inclined towards finicky eating, leaving the kibble down will only encourage this. He'll quickly learn that if he doesn't eat it, he won't get the chance until his next meal so if he IS hungry, he'll clean his plate.
  8. Well, if there is any way of getting her down here to me, I will take her, rear her puppies and place them in good homes. Depending upon how she fits in here with my other dogs, she could well have a home here for life. If not, I will undertake to find her the best possible forever home as well.
  9. Sharon, if it's loose, you may find that putting on a pair of rubber gloves and running your hands firmly over it will help to dislodge it. Definitely worked on Woger!
  10. Poor baby, I'd take her in a heartbeat if she were here in Tassie.

  12. But I'm not far wrong am I? Just nod your head, you don't need to say anything!
  13. From the deffinitions section of the Dogs qld rule book, I new I'd seen it somewhere. “Exhibition” includes any Championship Show, Open Show, Parade, Endurance Test, Earthdog Test, Field Trial, Obedience Trial, Obedience Sweepstake, Tracking Trial, Agility Trial, Herding Trial, Dances with Dogs, Flyball, Puppy Match or Training event, assessment event or any other canine activity approved by the CCC(Q). Good luck with that. Generally anything that is decreed by the CCC(Q) is different to every other State in Australia. For some reason the CCC(Q) and Vic Dogs think that they ALWAYS have to be different to every other state controlling body.
  14. Not sure where you can buy them ready made, but I'm currently braiding one for somebody.
  15. The same risks apply to any animal with a white base coat. Do you suggest that none of them be allowed to be bred from or sold either? ;)
  16. FWIW, I do agree and I cull where *I* think necessary. BUT....on the flipside....who are YOU to decree that others wouldn't do the same as you or feel the same way that you do? Provided full disclosure is given at the time of sale, the onus is on the purchaser to take responsibility. I feel sure that most reputable and responsible dog breeders would screen their purchasers to ensure the best outcome for all.
  17. Good luck getting a definition. Remember that was part of the issue surrounding the debarking. Nobody was entirely sure EXACTLY what constituted the word "exhibition".
  18. I have shown bitches at 5 or 6 weeks in whelp, simply because I didn't know that they WERE in whelp. Except for one occasion when the bitch had had ongoing temperament issues in the ring and was shown at 5 weeks in whelp...don't know if it was the hormones or what but she turned a major corner that day and was barking at the judge for bait and animating all over the place....she won RUBIG. Not showing bitches for 10 weeks after is a bit of a scary one though...talk about Big Brother walking in wearing jackboots. I've seen bitches at 8 weeks look simply sensational and win Specialty shows and yes, I agree with other posters....what if all puppies from the litter are lost or the bitch absorbs the litter? Bit unfair in that case.
  19. Interesting generalisation there. For my part I have found that the only boys which are distracted are the ones who are not trained well. My own boys are not girl silly at all.
  20. And I will add that I have availed myself of Wayrod's services a couple of times now and he is a dream to work with!
  21. Okies.....DEFINITELY a typo! Poor guy said that he had somebody ring him on Saturday night and abuse him. He had no idea why, thought they may have been drinking or something but when he got hold of the paper and saw what his ad said, he rang the paper and apparently they are going to give him his money back. As per TCA regs, the white males were registered on Limited Registration.
  22. And something else that is worth knowing about is that if you book an animal to fly on a mid morning flight from Hobart, it is VERY likely that it will be bumped off the flight for foodstuffs that have come in from New Zealand for onshipping. Oh AND I forgot to mention that Qantas are very prone to changing their planes with no notice as well so you might think your dog is booked on ok but you may get to the airport and find that it can't go because the plane has changed. BTW Pockets, double checking before going is no guarantee unless you luck into speaking to the person on the phone who will be doing the booking-in over the counter...it can be THAT variable!
  23. No answer, they're probably at work so I'll keep trying if I get a chance later.
  24. Nope, the new blue is the "rare" black-tailed red! Spottychick, wanna send me the number and I'll ring and find out!
  25. Actually...what you should put here is that it SHOULD cost you nothing! I'm afraid that Qantas/AAE here in Tasmania are very prone to making up their own rules on the day, depending upon who you get booking the puppy in at AAE (dogs don't go through the airport for excess in Tasmania, they go through freight).
