You don't KNOW thick until you have watched a cat sit motionless and stare at a fly on the wall for an hour. Except that the fly is actually a drawing pin! ;)

I'd say it is the bones etc because puppy pal is essentially flavoured water with thickeners.

Can You Export Pups From A Sire And Dam Marked Not For Export
ellz replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
I think the difference is that if you are exporting semen, you are essentially exporting the dog HIMSELF, whereas puppies sired by a dog are "diluted" by the inclusion of the mother IYKWIM. -
*ding ding* Sorta serious interjection here. HeavyPaws, you have me in stitches with your commentary and your pics....BUT.....could you find a food other than Woofbix to slam pretty please? You'll actually find that there are quite a few very well known, very successful REPUTABLE breeders out there who feed this. Maybe Homebrand or even Chum would suit the requirements of your dogs better?

Can You Export Pups From A Sire And Dam Marked Not For Export
ellz replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
It's cool Aziah. I wasn't talking to anybody in particular...just commenting that essentially marking a pedigree not for export is really not necessarily going to do a lot of good when it comes to the dog and not the paper trail! Oh and there are registries overseas now, where you don't even require an export pedigree to re-register as long as you can provide a pedigree with an official stamp on it and a photograph of the dog. -

You don't need an export pedigree to send a dog overseas. You only need an export pedigree if you want to re-register the dog overseas. So stamping a pedigree not for export is only going to stop the honest ones. -
Puppies should NEVER be given as surprises, no matter what the circumstances. A puppy is a huge committment that people need to be prepared for, emotionally and physically. That said, with their permission and choice of breed, a pup would be wonderful. I've given my parents a number of older dogs because they just cannot be bothered with the puppy bit any more and it has worked out well. And my last litter of Staffords saw one of the boys go to an older lady living on Flinders Island. Her daughter was horrified at her getting a puppy at her age (she's over 70) and made it very clear that if anything happened to her mother she did NOT want the responsibility of the dog. I put it in writing that if anything happens to Anne, the puppy (Ben) is to come back to me, along with his two older Stafford housemates (Brigid and Bran). The older dogs aren't my breeding or my responsibility but I wanted to give Anne peace of mind that should something happen to her, that her canine family would be taken care of TOGETHER for the rest of their days.

Dracdog, did you not read my contribution immediately above yours which was taken from the DogsVic website? That gives the definition which means that your understanding is apparently incorrect. Ellz, the Schipperke Association of NSW held a sanctioned show this year judged by its patron Vivienne Fears (NZ). So I think Dracdog and I could be correct in the notion the sanction means approval of any detail outside the system, not only the host club. CC Take it up with DogsVic then because I cut and paste from their website.

 He's not going to fade away in a hurry that's for sure! Derwent Valley Produce is the only place in New Norfolk. It's only $4 or so more expensive than Animal Tuckerbox which I figure is the difference in the travelling cost to get to Moonah! -
Way to go gsdzrul and Charli on your Bitch CC and RUBOB and Evie's POB!!!!!

A Good And Proper Budget Dry Food/kibble?
ellz replied to biscuit_the_golden's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As supermarket foods go, I would still (despite what others here say) place it at the high end of budget kibbles. I have no problems whatsoever in using it. In fact, my dogs have had it for the past couple of weeks (not JUST kibble of course, but as a base to their other goodies) because my local supplier was out of GB/UA when I went in to get it last time. I still maintain that it cannot be TOO bad when my young dog looks like this (photo taken on Saturday). -
From the DogsVic website... Sanctioned Competitions generally conducted by non-affiliated societies and invariably held to raise money for schools, charities or similar activities.

I think you're thinking of the Homebrand mullock in the white bag. The "other" Coles Stuff is in the You'll Love Coles range in the blue bag. Chicken and rice or beef and rice. It is identical in makeup to the Woolworths Select Chicken and Rice and Beef and Rice range which definitely are Coprice. -
Many breeders (including myself) give a folic acid tablet to brood bitches every day from a month prior to them being due into season. Although some only give it once the season has started but I have not heard whether or not it is as successful as having a good amount in the system prior to mating. Folic acid is non-toxic so excess is peed out. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence to say that it is extremely effective (Google Boston Terriers Folic Acid). For my part, I have been using folate for a while now and the only cleft I have had in Staffords, was in my first litter before I really knew about the high incidence of clefts in the breed.
-
Sorry for your loss LizT. Thought I'd mention that folic acid has been found to be beneficial in many/most breeds which are prone to large numbers of clefts.

A Good And Proper Budget Dry Food/kibble?
ellz replied to biscuit_the_golden's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
What you want to ask folk is is that all they feed. My guess is not in many cases and probably not with in whelp bitches in particular. Some volunteered this information and yes, that is all some feed. And surprisingly well known kennels and some top winning dogs. -

Don't be so sure JulesP. Many of those who said they were feeding Woofbix for example, feed it because they like the results first and the price second. Same with Bonnie, Coprice etc. -
How about this one? Same tree, 3 seasons...

I'm no Kelpie expert but I have to confess I'm not really a "fan" of puppy schools which are generally nothing more than an all-in uncontrolled excitement session just waiting for incidents to happen. That said, as a person who has Staffordshire Bull Terriers (and a Kelpie), I would personally be keeping your puppy on lead whilst you don't have a lot of control of it via other methods. When it shows no signs of listening to you, keep it on a VERY short lead, use the time as a means to establish voice contact and remove it from the situation and calm it down BEFORE the level of play escalates to a fight. In ANY situation, if you don't have effective control of your own dog, then you need to work on this before you allow the animal into a situation that could result in a scuffle or injury. It's all very well to say that it is at puppy school and supervised, but obviously it isn't being supervised WELL enough if your dog is able to intrude into the personal space of another dog for long enough to start an incident. You have no right to allow your puppy to annoy another dog to the extent where it must snap and snarl to get the point across that it is not comfortable with the level of attention. IMO that is NOT being a responsible owner/handler.

To be honest it's not something I've ever done. At most I put up a sign but that's about it. Depending upon how they set them out, some of the larger benches aren't overly accessible to the public and they do vary in size. And this year, for the first time in all the time I've been attending Hobart Royal (23 years *gulp*), they're allowing us to choose our own benches, size appropriate of course.
