No, thyroid problems are universal and can apply from species to species and in many cases they can be directly linked to overdosing with kelp and other sources of iodine.

I still have my first Mason Pearson too. It is nearly 20 years old now and still going strong. In present company I think I feel ashamed to admit that I prefer my Plush Puppy brushes for my dogs! :D

I'd probably err on the side of caution and split the difference and maybe add about a 1/4 tspn. I've never fed it as a straight additive. I've always had it mixed in my "Magic Mix" with Brewers Yeast and Keylomin powder.

Too much kelp can lead to thyroid problems.

can you post a link? Plush Puppy Website.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Plush Puppy brushes. I even use the PP pin brush on my own hair (waist-length, thick and straight). I also like the Metro Anti-Static brush and if people consider a Mason Pearson to be a 10, then the Metro Anti-Static, in my opinion, would be a 9.9. The only thing lacking is the MP name.

We understand that. But the point WE are trying to make is that if we had any other cost-effective and convenient way of purchasing these foods from anywhere else, we would do it. I would rather my animals have access to the quality foods, regardless of where they are purchased from. Unfortunately, living on an island makes it difficult to obtain foods at comparable prices to the mainland due to freight costs. If supporting these shops means that we can even GET some of the products due to their bulk purchase agreements, then in the interest of our animals, I will shop there.

Slicker brush and comb, followed by pin brush and comb. Rake if there is a lot of undercoat and/or either a Mars Coat King or a Furminator.

Have you had her to the vet to ask what it might be? Sometimes thyroid disorders can cause excessive body odour as well. Bathing her so frequently isn't doing her skin any good either. It is really unusual for a Stafford to be so offensively smelly that they require so much bathing. I have a couple who are lucky to see a full bath more than 3 or 4 times per year (unless they roll in something disgusting) and at worst, they smell slightly "earthy". I'd be taking her to the vet for a full workup to see if it is a medical issue.

What do you feed? Sometimes body odour can come from the inside out.

We don't HAVE other stores to purchase these things. If we wish to make it possible for our dogs to eat what we choose, unfortunately we have to make decisions which might be less palatable to others. I'm not for throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm waiting for quarantine clearance on a product called K9 Showstopper which has received rave reviews in the States.

I just need to work out how to make the flow faster from my pitiful laundry trough into the tanks. I think a shorter garden hose might be the go. The pressuer isn't so bad when I'm filling buckets of water, just lousy with a hose.

I'm thrilled with it!!! Could live without the way it shampoos, I prefer to do that myself because I know what parts of which of my dogs need "extra" work or less saturation. So will do that manually...no dramas. But for rinsing on tank water with a limited amount and shitty pressure.....IT'S THE BOMB!!! Can't believe I bathed and rinsed an American Cocker in less than 30 minutes and haven't got the aches n creaks to go with it! ;)

I have recently purchased two crates. One from Petitude on Ebay, the other from some other mob on ebay. Both are identical. Both are the same as the deals direct ones and I am very pleased with them. The side opening door on them makes it easier to put them in the loungeroom because they fit along a wall and don't stick out so far for the door to open. They are very sturdy and strong. My only criticism would be that I'd like two latches on the door, but that is a minor detail and nothing that a couple of snap hooks won't fix. I currently have my two Stafford puppies sleeping together in one and my older Stafford bitch sleeping in the other, occasionally with her American Cocker mate and they are plenty roomy enough. I will be purchasing more....can never have too many good crates!

Outdoors I changed to the flat sided pails which clip onto a fence and hang it high enough that everybody can reach but nobody can dive in. Indoors, I have a tiny little ceramic bowl that requires almost CONSTANT refilling but isn't big enough to dunk body parts and if they spill it, it doesn't flood the place. When they're in crates or trolleys, they have Lixits. Of course, that doesn't stop them from sneaking off into the home paddock and SITTING in the horse trough!!!

I'm afraid I'm a soft touch like Silverblue. For the first few weeks, until the puppy is at least sleeping through the night, I either have the crate next to my bed or the puppy sleeping on the bed. That way too I know if it is stirring and therefore likely to want to go out to the loo. Remember that puppies are like babies and will need to go to the toilet after they've slept, eaten or played. And sometimes the only way you know that they need to go is when they start scuffling around looking for "the spot". At least if they're close at hand, you can attend to them quickly and easily and hopefully without disturbing the rest of the house. Once they're pretty much night toilet trained, then I move them to wherever they are going to sleep on a permanent basis. I used to do the tough love bit and make them sleep in the laundry or wherever and all that happened was an even more broken sleep each night and lots of noise from a very distressed puppy. As long as the end result is a good one, it doesn't matter if the journey there takes a few twists and turns.

I breed and show American Cockers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers and own a greyhound (GAP dog).

Hi quoll I did when I was in suburbia but I'm a fair way out now so probably won't do much any more.
-
Yes, we're aware of that. Thanks. I know what my needs are having had my breed since 1986. I was merely offering suggestions as to other suitable dryers based upon the OPs requirements.
-
Pricey but a good dryer. I wasn't overly impressed with the service of MDC I'm afraid. Not only did they take ages to answer enquiries but the replies weren't all that helpful to boot. And like you, I was intending to spend quite a bit of money.

Another option for you might be the Melbourne Dog Centre Turbojet series. They're pretty darned good too. I'd go for one of those in preference to Liberty. They're noisy but they DO have the puff to go with it!!
