Dunno....drop him a line and ask him. He's certainly willing to accept a challenge!

Have been told it should be no more expensive than The Missing Link and other similar supplements. Editing to add: That site isn't the Australian source btw. It is being imported into Australia by a company named Animal Naturals. The site I liked was just a site that had good information on the product itself.

And soooooooo many people have problems with them being fussy :D Mollycoddled ones methinks! Mine know it is eat or starve!

Isn't it funny how Stafford people always seem to have had a lot to do with porkers?
-
When I use them for a porker, I just add equal amounts of grated carrot to the food.

Carots are full of Sugar Oh well, must be good sugar because it worked It is good sugar. Energy giving. Part of the problem of ANY weight loss program is the loss of energy as a result of the lowered intake. Carrot is a good filler because it still gives energy whilst not giving fat at the same time.

BB. I hear you! It's heartbreaking because there is just nothing you can do.

We are still waiting. For whatever reason, AQIS are still not allowing an import certificate to be issued. Apparently they have now requested an inspection of the manufacturing plant where Showstopper is made. As Danny from Animal Naturals (the company who will be importing the products) said to me, it would be SOOOO much easier and quicker if they wanted to bring the product in for a retired racehorse! I'll keep you all informed as to progress. I for one am VERY keen to try this product. It has received rave reviews from everybody who has tried it in my circle of friends overseas.

Quite common. Different schools of thought about their extraction. Some say wait until desexing time. Which is great if you are GOING to desex of course! Others say wait until all adult teeth are through and just give extra bones etc. I don't agree. I personally feel that if the baby teeth haven't started to budge when the adult teeth are coming through, it is time for the baby teeth to come out. And especially if the puppy is a show prospect.

The reality is that for young dogs of ANY long-coated breed, if you want coat, you have to work. Shortcuts not only don't work, they more often than not create MORE work. Having coat is a big job from conception to the end of their lives. Good coat is BRED for, FED for and CARED for.

I will only use it when we go out. He doesn't do his business when he is inside the house. That's fine, BUT you will still need to regroom him after he has worn them, even if they are only used when you go out. So it kind of defeats the purpose of using them anyway.

My parents have had two geriatrics....both black poodles, both named Beau and both stone cold motherless blind. Both dogs enjoyed a very active life. As persephone said, provided they are safe and secure in their environment and you don't go moving things around, they adjust very quickly. The old Beau's used to have the particular high-stepping, almost "searching" gait of the old blind dog where it looked like they were sniffing in front of them firstly with their nose and then picking their way with their front feet so as to avoid colliding with anything, but unless something was out of place, it really wasn't an issue for them. They still used to enjoy going for walks because the smells were there even if they couldn't see diddly-squat and they both loved car rides. I wouldn't say it was difficult, but it was challenging to help maintain the status quo for them and both lived to ripe old ages.

Hmm, didn't think the vets needed to "stand up for their profession". Where was the profession questioned? I must have missed that. *sigh* She's published I dunno how many papers, some is opinion, a lot is researched facts. *sigh* And dare I add that she is respected pretty much universally for those facts and that "opinion".

Grated carrot is a good filler. Equal parts carrot to food.

6 days old today and still hanging in there. Pink girl is well over 300gr and little purple is hovering around the 245gr mark. She's not as wheezy as she was but still isn't as strong as I'd really like either. But so far....so good! :D Hope your guys keep hanging in there too BB. I'll say it again, I DO wish we lived closer!

Personally, I wouldn't be using trousers or anything else on an adolescent coated dog on a full-time basis. I have tried it and all it did was make them matt up more and more quickly. The only way to deal with wet hair and to prevent it from becoming matted is correct and regular grooming.

I have used my Coat King on my horses with success and I have used my el cheapo, knockoff furminator with equally as good results on the horses! :D

Do you have an extension arm? Sometimes that helps because the noise of the unit itself isn't so close to the dog. Failing that, clip a bit off the end and then use a manual file to shape and get closer to the quick. Gimmicky things like peticures and stuff like that are rarely worth the money you pay for them.
-
Honestly I wouldn't bother with them Hounder. You'd be better off with a rotary grinder. You don't necessarily need 20/20 vision for those.

The boys are at respite at the moment thank goodness. Timing worked in well with the puppies arrival. And even better with having this little struggler around. Just praying now that Koda is considerate and doesn't have too many in her litter at the end of the month and that she is smart enough to care for them! :D
