  1. I had similar to this happen to my Stafford boy late last year. He was shown on the Saturday with no worries. Put him in the car and drove back to the show venue on the second day and he couldn't get up. After a short period of time, he was able to walk but was very twisted up and obviously not happy or comfortable. Managed to get him an appointment with the Greyhound man and he was just fine and hasn't shown any other signs of a problem since. Was scary though....I felt like crying when I saw my boy so obviously suffering.
  2. Not sure this is the case any more. Have seen certified pedigrees with a dual title such as this listed as Ch NZ Ch or NZ Ch Ch (depending upon which country the dog is from).
  3. I can join this thread again too! :D Introducing Matilda.... So excited, this is my first American Cocker baby in quite a few years and the first one I've purchased as a puppy in a very long time.....she arrives on February 14th. I'm told she's a little firecracker. Can't wait!
  4. Not an alliteration but..... A Goulash of Pulik
  5. I recommend a) feeding them frozen and b) whacking them with a meat mallet. This seems to help the smaller dogs slow down and digest quicker.
  6. A friend of mine who picked up an import from Eastern Creek the other weekend said he was told that the changes would not now be implemented until 2015.
  7. Mine arrived on Tuesday. Has come in handy already! :) Thanks for the link!
  8. Can anybody tell me where the best online price is for the VAN complete mix for Puppies and the VAN complete mix for Adults?
  9. Definitely wayrod. Wouldn't use anybody else now.
  10. My mentor once said to me..."when judging you don't have the benefit of bloodline knowledge, pedigrees or a crystal ball. A promising, typical puppy is exactly that ON THE DAY, whilst a mature dud, will ALWAYS be a dud...".
  11. Personally I wish that more judges had the courage to withhold CCs.
  12. Try using a blue or green shampoo, preferably one for dandruff sufferers. I used to use Blue Clinic, not sure if it is still available. Condition well.
  13. Secret Affair Secret Service Keeping Secrets
  14. Unless there is a hidden agenda that only fixer knows about. Either way, I suggest that rather than keep frustrating ourselves going around in circles....that we do ourselves a favour and stop feeding the troll.
  15. I already have....a couple of times. Only you're so wrapped up in your own opinions you cannot see what others have written......
  16. What you should do is read the topic. When you have something other than bile to contribute please join us. I did contribute but you said I didn't count cause I have a minority breed, of course this was before you showed your hand. And those of us who not only have a breed with high numbers, but also the breed the vitriole was aimed at, aren't allowed to reply either.....odd
  17. Bit of an odd thing to say when you specifically quoted instances from the judging and standard of the SBT......what did you expect us to do? Sit on our hands and watch your chin become browner??
  18. As I have already posted in this thread, and cut and pasted from the Staffordshire Bull Terrier standard, as you requested specific quotes from that standard.... Faults: Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effect upon the health and welfare of the dog. Fault judging is not encouraged in ANY judge's training scheme. However at the end of the day, if faced with two extraordinarily good specimens a judge "may" use a cosmetic issue to split them. It would be expected though that virtues are considered first and foremost. Australia has NEVER had disqualifications in a standard until recently when country of origin standards were introduced and even then, there are few breeds which actually boast disqualifying faults. No, actually it is the p.c. way of saying "Highly Undesirable". Which is not the argument. You were the one who specifically mentioned yellow eyes on a black Stafford. Firstly, as we all know, black Staffords don't exist and second to which, I'd rather have yellow eyes (or a black/tan) than a dog with a bad bite. And your wobbly assassination is the reason why breeders shake their heads. Dunno...given your apparent change of tack, I'm not convinced the same couldn't apply to you.... What the winner or the loser? Obviously you were the loser which seems to me to be a bit of a sore point and the reason for your judge-bashing thread in the first place. Which is precisely why Sandra777 has been in the breed successfully for such a long time. Given that you are hiding under a pseudonym, there is no way of ascertaining if the same applies to you.....
  19. Some things yes. When you've done enough "puppy pickin'" you can see things that won't change. For example, a short ribcage won't lengthen. A narrow, long, snipey muzzle won't widen. A wide backskull won't miraculously narrow. Editing to add: Of course the above is breed dependent...I am referring my comments mostly to American Cockers.
  20. WRONG!!! Black and tan is not a colour it is a pattern. It is whatever base colour plus the tan points gene. There are many other colours, including reds that show the tan patterning. Smut dogs carry the tan point gene. Sable/smut doesn't exist without it. Many dogs are awarded by knowledgeable judges which exhibit this pattern, there are many brindle dogs out there which have brindling/pencilling in the tan point areas. Most breed standards which include the tan points gene specifically mention tan that is from the palest cream to the darkest red and many specifically mention that pencilling is not desirable. The original Stafford standard was written before the genetics of colour inheritance were understood. I didn't say it was a colour. Brindle is a colour, but it is not considered to be B&T. B&T is more a description than a pattern if get down to the nitty gritty. If I say "brindle" you know exactly what I am speaking of. Ditto "B&T". Never the twain shall meet For those wondering, think Rottweiler, Dobermann & any of the four eyed dogs. Eyebrows, cheeks, muzzle, chest, feet/legs, under the tail. Tan points indicate B&T, it doesn't matter how faint they are, it's were they are that is the indicator. The standard says it is ''highly undesirable" Therefore it should not be awarded. The reason it is "highly undesirable: is because it is feared once it took hold it could take over. Those who don't care to honour their breed standards should find something else to bugger up. btw. The original standard disqualified what was referred to as "liver", which it said by many knowledgable long time breeders to be todays "blue". Rubbish...liver is liver. And ANY colour can have tan points. Comparing a B&T Stafford to a Rottweiler or Dobermann is plain ridiculous given that genetically, black doesn't appear in the Stafford. How is CORRECTLY interpreting a colour from a breed standard, or applying faults/virtues to a breed buggering it up? You have some odd ideas fixer, whoever you are.
  21. Black and white photo of red/tan dog Eng Ch Pitbul Red Regent. Many people have called this "reverse tan", but it is more likely the tan points being expressed on a red dog.

  23. So sorry for your loss. This brings back memories of the beautiful Golden, Jag, who allegedly died during a similar incident whilst with his professional handlers in the USA. Although his body has never been recovered.
