  1. Hahaha! To be honest, I don't pay much attention to the numbers and just stop sliding when I like how it looks
  2. Thank you. Off topic but do you know where the fill light slider has gone to in Lightroom 5?
  3. YES! I was looking at it in LR thinking it's not so sharp, then I zoomed in and wow! sharp!! Same pic in colour
  4. My first photos with the new camera:
  5. What a horrible mum I am, I'd forgotten about the dogs ! Those photos are gorgeous. And what a beautiful location for a wedding. Where is it?
  6. Yes, very frustrating!! I'm really looking forward to getting the images off the camera tonight. I've got no-one to photograph this week . Does anyone in Vic want their photo taken?
  7. Yes, trial might be the way to go :) My first pics are crap lol! But what I LOVE is that the camera will focus where I ask it to. My D7000 has always been hit and miss.... not sure if it is the model or there is a problem with my camera.
  8. So, after seeing Huga's gorgeous pics and after a bit of prodding from a professional photographer friend, I bought the D800 too :D . Had a play with the camera on the weekend and LOVE it! Can't transfer my pics to Lightroom as my version is too old, so I'll need to upgrade. A question for D800 users: Do you use the Active D Lighting (think that's what it's called)? (edited - think I worked out the answer to my second question)
  9. Thanks KA! I've got my beautiful new camera and discovered yesterday that my old version of lighteoom won't import the raw files from the d800. Bugger! Time to upgrade lighroom.....
  10. Yes, I have the D7000. Another professional photographer friend said the same - the jump from the D7000 to the D800 is massive. Yay :D :D :D . Can't wait for it to arrive. Great to know about sharpening too, thanks! :)
  11. That's gorgeous Huga! (I ordered my D800 on Sunday :D )
  12. Thanks CC, Hannah is the daughter of a friend. She's pretty cute :)
  13. LOL I'm the same Kirislin - I must be very crooked as my horizon is always off
  14. Thanks Grumpette! I'm struggling to find people willing to be photographed so if anyone lives in Vic and would like their photo taken, please yell out :)
  15. It's more expensive, but I'd love the new Sigma 50mm 1.4 ART lens :D
  16. oh, how gorgeous is Louis :)
  17. Thanks Trifecta, there was no price last time I looked :)
  18. This lens sounds amazing! Due to be released in June - will be interesting to see how much it is. http://slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/1677/cat/30 http://www.sigmaphoto.com/product/50mm-f14-dg-hsm-a
  19. Just beautiful - I do love owls.
  20. Did some more reading and it appears it's a the focal point issue is a common problem with my camera. It has been happening since I first got it. It was frustrating yesterday as I got some lovely photos of the woman on the chair only to discover that the focus was completely off on all of them - it had focussed on her hair instead of where I'd asked it to (her eye). Yes, same, I under expose because I prefer it but I now know not to do that when shooting at higher iso :). Madly thinking of what I can sell (anyone want to buy a kidney?) to raise the funds for the D800.
  21. I've done some reading, I think I'm under exposing. I tend to do that
