  1. Where is she bleeding from ?? My friends dog was bleeding from his willy and it was from eating rat poison I would try calling a vet now.
  2. How do I know what they do best on unless I try every single one though ?? I know they don't do well on cheap supermarket kibble regardless of what I add to it..so that is out. Do good on Supercoat Special Care (gluten free, not available in supermarkets)...haven't tried anything else yet. Too lazy with my shopping and kitchen skills to commit to a full BARF diet.
  3. How true is that You can imagine how colourful our house gets at times with a Leo and an Aries... It may suprise you but I don't spend much time at all in front of the mirror (and it shows ) I probably would if I was 10kg lighter though :p Is it an Aries thing to think you know what other people want to do ?? My OH is back into his martial arts training and now apparently I want to get fit ?? I want a punching bag ? He even bought me gloves to spar with him Noooooo I do NOT !!!! Sometimes I want to punch him but that is different to wanting to train with him I do want to get fitter but I'd rather work out with my dogs
  4. Thanks for that I was just thinking I probably do spend a lot more than I think on food. I have to buy the dry from a pet supplies but buy meat from a variety of sources, supermarket (rolls and chicken necks), chicken shop is cheaper for necks/frames/bones/mince but I don't always go there. Plus I buy a variety of bones for 'recreation' and sardines, eggs etc Would probably save a lot of time to just buy some fresh chicken stuff in bulk and freeze it and then buy a big bag of super premium each..I'm always buying dog food !!!! Eagle Pack told me their Holistic Chicken would be suitable for both my 3yo Dobe and my puppy, the Dobe gets dandruff and itchy if I feed him garbage food so I might try that one. Nobody dare tell my OH I'm spending $100+ on a bag of dog food okay I also hate poop scooping so any less of that is a bonus ;)
  5. Reality Bites I'm ashamed of you where was the camera when your dogs were being so well behaved ?? ;)
  6. OK so if the kibble I'm currently using lists rice as the first ingredient, then poultry meals (whatever the hell 'meals' means ??). If it is the same as human food that would mean rice is the main ingredient don't know what % is rice though ? The third listed is rice bran, then poultry fats, linseed, iodised salt and then a list of some vitamins/herbs. It is called a "premium" food according to the label and is about $30 for 10kg. For a 10-25kg adult dog the puppy feeding guidelines for 6-9 mths is 200-340g Going on the puppy one because I have an empty bag handy to read from !!
  7. Yep, the big boy is a Dobe, the little girl is a 6mth mutt who I would say would be medium sized when full grown. We think she has GSD/BC in her, going by her size now I would say she will end up more BC sized :D
  8. OK I'm being negative, cynical, skeptical, untrusting, or whatever word you would like to call me (choose anything, I've probably been called worse :D ) BUT...how do you really know that the Super Premium Foods are all that good ?? I look at the cost per kg and think well I can mix up some mince and vegies myself for much less than that, and after all it is still kibble how good can it be ??? I've often considered trying one, but at around $100 for a large bag I find using a mix of home made and a mid range kibble (I use Supercoat Special Care) much more economical. I'm still trying to weigh up how far wrong I am on this, maybe if I really added up the amount I spend per week on food I would be better off but I would need to be convinced the premium food was really worth the money it costs. Can anyone sell me on it ??
  9. oh oh I 'get' you too now Aus...I live with an Aries :D Lucky for you guys I'm a Leo so if we ever have a big fight on here I will forgive you in the morning
  10. That is so cute really :D Off Topic but one morning I was woken by Jones whining at my window, which was quite unusual and he sounded quite bothered by something. The moment I got up I realised I was SICK, and spent the day with a bucket very close to hand and running to the loo I've always wondered if somehow he knew I was sick ? Maybe I had a sick smell (the window was open) or was grumbling in my sleep, or maybe it was just a strange coincidence

What are growth plates ? Oh GLAMACHIC I don't want to freak you out or anything but my sisters dog recently got fed a bowl of very rich lasagne by a kindly neighbour (sister was having a party) now they don't know if this is what caused it yet but the poor little thing had four seizures over a 6 hrs period and ended up in the emergency vet. They haven't ruled out epilepsy yet but it is either that or a reaction from toxins which could have been caused by the food (as it was a party it is also possible someone slipped her some Mud Cake :D ) as they have tested for all sorts of other things but to go any further at this stage will cost $1300 so they are going to 'wait and see' if she has any more seizures before proceeding. Anyway point of that rambling is while little bits of good quality table scraps are fine and dogs love em mixed in with their dinner, don't go overboard on human food, especially those rich in Tomato/Onion/Spices

I think desexing would be a smart move, without getting on my soapbox about why you should, do you really want a bleeding bed hog ?? Also if she gets an infection (quite common in entire females) the discharge is disgusting and requires pretty heavy antibiotic treatment to clear up.
  13. Keep thinking guys Myszka if you need a bored housewife to help with any boring admin stuff let me know :D
  14. I dunno, but that would seriously gross me out and I couldn't take it My dogs like to give me a little kiss in the mornings, or when I come back from being out etc but if it is over the top I guess there is a problem there..have you tried spraying yourself with Aeroguard I bet he wouldn't like the taste of that ?? We used to that with a psycho childhood mutt who was obsessed with shoelaces...while the shoes were on your feet Left them alone if we sprayed Aeroguard on. I don't know about toxicity though, I'd imagine if it is OK to spray on skin a tiny lick wouldn't kill a dog ?
  15. I'd definately consider it, if I didn't have children I would simply say...YES tell me when and where Ahhh well they will be grown up one day
  16. Awwwwww he is soooooo cute !!!!! Bright eyed little man, I think he is going to keep you very busy once he settles in
  17. OK and because your dog was there when you got back/noticed you feel it is because he is better trained ? I have also once come home to an open gate, I was almost having a panic attack before I even got the car door open and out strolled my dog to say hello/welcome home. I don't know why, certainly wasn't trained not to run off and possibly had been for a stroll and fortunately got back home safe before we did I've also had a situation where OH accidentally let dog out and panicked and yelled at the dog who panicked and bolted. Again fortunately he got home safe (thanks to a local shopkeeper who knew he was missing and my OH's life as he knew it was on the line if he wasn't found or was hurt). I don't feel any more or less of a dog owner due to either circumstance.
  18. JO all any of us can do is out BEST. We love our dogs, we secure our yards, we train our dogs to a level we are happy with and which prevents them causing nuisance to others. When things go wrong while we are responsible it doesn't make us bad or inadequate, it makes us human and the dog a dog. Negligence is one thing, but your theory goes way over that and into the ridiculous.
  19. Out of curiosity, do you leave your gates open when you are home J O ??
  20. I don't think it is as black and white of PTS or not though. Facing facts, if they do not take the dogs aggression seriously they may one day not have the choice and also have to live with the guilt of what their dog has done if he/she seriously hurts someone. If they are willing to accept the seriousness of the issue and work on it while making 150% sure this dog doesn't even get close to having the opportunity to bite anyone ever again, that is their call...but they should be well aware that they are responsible if the dog does bite again.
  21. I think they should get professional help. Dogs should not be showing aggression and biting people I wouldn't call that well trained myself, I would call it out of control.
  22. Ahhh I see where you are coming from now JO All owners should have their dog highly trained in drive so they wont wander/escape (even if an accidental and highly unusual occurrence occurs in the absence of the owner) and anyone who hasn't achieved that is a bad dog owner ?
  23. Take some pics while he is in there we need pics !!!!!!
