Is There A Limit On The Number Of Dogs I Can Own?
dogslife replied to Steve's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is ONLY for people who run a business of breeding dogs. Rescue and Normal dog ownership does not apply to the above. -
What about these.... link or this cheaper version link They stop dogs running out of water. Mine love theirs.

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
dogslife replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
It's great to hear that you are back reading with us Jed. I once said that we walk beside each other here in DOL as we share our love, our pain and our laughter with each other. You have had hundreds of us waiting beside you, ready to help you up and hold you as you take your first steps. We will stay beside you on this path and please know that each day you are close in the thoughts of people you may never meet. Hugs from all of us. Welcome back. -
I can suppy a cage for the bird if needed.

How To Get Rid Of A Mouse Problem With Out Affecting The Dogs
dogslife replied to BustaGirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
I bought a mouse zapper and its amazing. Works really well. -
The Council has no legal right to enforce this. They can only lobby the state government to get them to do something. Its like them declaring their Council area a nuclear free zone....nice thought but no powers to stop nuclear waste trucking across the council area

With regards to the Stat dec. I did a stat dec on an issue 20 years ago. About 10 years ago I was asked if I had a copy of that stat dec still. Now I am sure it is somewhere in the disaster that is my filing system but ?????? But we got around the issue by writing a new stat dec that stated that 20 years ago I wrote a stat dec that said "#####" This was accepted as the required document. In this case, if they believed that they did do a stat dec for the procedure to take place then they can simply write that out in a new stat dec Paper work does go missing.......... ( even my dogs have been known to eat my paper work if left unattended :D )

The dog blood bank is based in melb. We learnt this when my daughters do was badly injured. We had to put the call out for donors as most of the doggy blood bank had used up its supply with bush fires. The blood is costly to buy and its much cheaper if you can supply your own ( we also discovered this :D )
-
For anyone who is considering helping....it is really easy. My Dane was a sook when she did it but its not much different to a human blood donation...and you can save a life.
-
I have two rottie and a Dane and we are happy to donate. Several people helped us last year with blood donations when my daughters dog was injured. My dogs have been typed so we can find that out. Can I suggest that you post this in the giant breed threads.....like the rotties, danes, labs, german sheps, etc. You will get a better response because they are large enough to help. PM me if you want me to bring in my girls to donate.

Can We Have A Thread That Just States The Updates On Jed
dogslife replied to dogslife's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank you so much Troy. You are wonderful......... -
And on this occasion, the RSPCA has done the right thing and helped a wonderful member of DOl who has had a tragic thing happen to her. Hats off to them.
-
Many of us what to hear how she is but cannot deal with too much information and sifting through all the comments is hard. Additionally some members have depression and the loss of Jeds babies has stressed them but they do want to know how she is. Can Steve or Troy have a thread that is locked to only those who have the updates and pin it high so we can all find out how she is. Please keep the other threads as well as I think Jed will need to know how much she has meant to many of us on DOL What do people think???
-
To be fair to some of the anti RSPCA posters at the beginning, some of us have been involved when the RSPCA has gone in and NOT done the correct thing. I will admitt that my first concern when I had heard the RSPCA had collected the dogs, was how do we get them off the RSPCA and protect them from the RSPCA putting them down without cause. I have been delighted to hear that it all has worked out and the RSPCA has done a great job this time. And pats on the back to them for helping Jeds babies. I agree that there are many good people in the RSPCA but it does not appear to self correct when things go wrong. I have always judged an organisation on how they make amends for their mistakes as we all make them. None of us are perfect.

I met Alby years ago when I shared a property with John Fields....the other guy on the first trip. Alby was "interesting". All the women on the property decided to go camping to the furthest part of the property to avoid him.........at least that where we told him we were off to. We all stayed at one girls house well away from where he was staying and kept out of sight till he left. Right royal pain he was.......

I am no help but it reminded me of my Neo mastiff foster who was scared of cars when we first got him. He was terrified and he weighed 70 kilos at this point. It took both my son and I to lift him into the car. The neighbours were laughing and the other dogs disgusted. He eventually learnt.........thank god.

Horus, I wish I could take away the pain. Losing Ellie would be like losing your right arm She was part of you and a little bit of you has died with her passing. But remember the joy that she brought to your life. She gave you so much and she loved you. We will never forget her and she will meet lots of friends at the bridge. Hugs from all the dogslife crowd and special licks from Chantie.

When I fostered I would always meet the new dog at the park and let them play together slowly. Once they were all tired I would load my dogs and the new dog into the car with a person sitting next to the new dog just in case. At home I would bring them all in together and then have several people around to assist in case of any tension. Rarely was there a problem. I would separate at first the new dog for feeding and if I was going out, then new dog would be separated. At my place I have lots of toddler gates to keep dogs apart and rooms dog free. Good luck.

Rehome to a adult environment. It sounds like he is stressed but may be happy in an adult home. Good luck.

I am not entirely sure but I believe the RSPCA fosters these dogs to approved foster families. Seems like an ok option to me. Unfortunately my professional experience with the RSPCA means I would never place a dog in their care. They are some wonderful people who work there but the organisation has too many defects and no one to oversee them. My experience is that the level of care is lacking significantly in some RSPCA facilities and I would never want any of my pets in there.
-
The RSPCA does do it but I would NOT send my dog there. After seeing the treatment of some of the dogs there....I wouldn't want my dog to spend even a day in that enviroment. She would be better off organising with friends and leave money in her will to provide for them. My friends have left me their dogs in their will.
