When I pulled my puppy out of the pound, the pound staff and my own vet called her a Jack Russell cross Bull Terrier. I would love to have her assessed by this test. This is her today....... lots of Jack Russell in her...... :D

Travel Insurance For Dogs (and Other Pets)
dogslife replied to Dxenion's topic in General Dog Discussion
Contact a broker and ask them. You should be able to get insurance in the same way you can get insurance for aus post parcels etc. -
At the pub in SA the other week, when the police came to the twit who had his dog in the full sun in a sealed car with no water, he was told by the police that next time leave a window down and water in the car. I would leave my mobile number in the window as well.

nup.... he is wrong. As long as dogs have water, bedding, air and are not in a hot car they are ok. RSPCA will tell them to take a hike..... hopefully. My dogs are often left in the car with the windows down and water in the car and I am in NSW.

and this.... "It is a prosecutable offence under Western Australia’s Animal Welfare Act to allow an animal to suffer unnecessarily, with a maximum penalty of $50,000 fine and 5 years jail."
-
Found this statement in an newspaper story "If a dog is left in a car and suffers distress, owners can be charged by the RSPCA with breaching their duty of care which brings a maximum fine of $30,000 or six months’ jail, or animal cruelty with a maximum fine of $100,000 or two years’ jail." Hope that helps............

Call your local police station and ask them under what law it is an offence. I know it is an offence in SA as a police officer charged a guy 3 weeks ago for leaving a small dog in a hot car when I was at the pub. The officer tore strips off the bloke before he gave him a fine.

I feel left out.... I have always called my Dane x "a dane cross" when I could have had a fancy name for her........ I need a new name for her so I can join the "elite" idiots...... She is a Dane crossed with an English pointer...... a "Pointed Dane" maybe...... I need some ideas........

A nuisance order is just a way to get people to take their dog to training and to try and get some extra control over them. It appears that it expires after 6 mths and it looks like you are doing everything anyway. If what you have written is all you have to do then I would just accept it and wait the 6 mths out.

He is so cute. We had a duck who was scared of water. They are a wonderful pet. I loved watching him chase the dog.......... you are very lucky.

I see no issue with going and asking your neighbours nicely if they can move the trampoline to else where in the garden if they can. Most people want to get on with their neighbours and if they know something bothers them they will change it. With one of my neighbours we built a small platform so her grandkids could see my dogs and chat to me. But with another we have a very very nice high hedge. Different neighbour, different relationship. Don't get caught up in perfect world concepts......you want the dogs to not be disturbed.... go ask nicely. If they say no then get on with your life and you will find the issue passes. Kids get bored after a while. I remember my most difficult neighbour had a son who was learning electric guitar...... he played badly. I took the view that I lived in the inner city and he would either get better at playing....or he would evertually move out. He never got better..... but he did move out three years later. It will pass. Just ask them if its possible that they move it a little way away so that the dogs don't start barking. And just be polite.....and nice. A smile always helps.

What state is this in?? I know a few journos who may be interested in the story. I worked out that to raise $1500 you only need 150 people to donate $10 each. Its not hard when you think of it that way.

I adopted dog from RSPCA, she had been dumped, covered in ticks, fleas, had to be shaved cause she was sooo matted. 5 months later, she was stolen from my yard, police called. Dog located. People said it was their dog, missing 12 months. Police did nothing. Possession is 9/10's of the law. It was a dog. The officer told me that if it was a car or boat then they would do something. Police said they do not have facilities to hold dog while it goes to court. I was offered mediation to try and talk them into getting my dog back. RSPCA would do nothing either. A dog maybe a thing in the eyes of the law but because it breathes they dont want to know about it. Actually the police were wrong here. If you could produce the receipt from the RSPCA and the dog was microchipped into your name then the dog is yours and they have to help you. You do not have to go to the court.....if you have the receipts and micro chip then talk to a senior officer to get your dog back. The previous owners lose their rights once the 14 day period for a lost dog expires and the dog is onsold by the RSPCA.

Local government officers do have some special rights to enter a property. BUT it is clearly listed why and when, and under what circumstances they can enter.
-
Generally in law, whether consumer or local government, an animal is considered a thing or a chattel like a toaster or a plant. The fact that it is breathing means nothing in the general law. Dead or alive, in law, its a item. Not sure if this helps but there are loopholes in all laws if the circumstances require it..............

Why don't you give us the scenario so that people can actually answer without guessing what the question really is.

Ohhhhh this is going to be a fun thread. Check out the Rozzie thread for starters...........

I also love my vets.....They are WONDERFUL... Many of us have a great relationship with our vets......... I think the negative comments are only for a small section of the vet community. Every profession have dodgy ones....
-
How long do you need for the shepherd......??? Two months..... Six months....???
-
I support you having it done. Some dogs will bark non stop regardless of what you do for it. Its better you have it done and the dogs lives a long life.......... Done properly the dog can still bark...it just reduces the volume. ps Karen Hedberg at North Richmond is well respected by the Dane owners. Stormie a doler works for a great vet that lots of people go to. I don't know if he does it but if you PM her she may be able to recommend a great vet.
