  1. The wonderful dogtainers offered us a discounted rate to fly her in a spot on a plane at lunchtime so we grabbed their offer and flew her down. Go Dogtainers.....!!!!!! .
  2. We need to get a very thin 12 week old pup to Sydney from Armidale ASAP. We may have a possible transport if we can get her to Bellingen. She need to be in the care of a vet and skilled foster carer to get weigh back on her. We have a foster carer in Sydney ready to take her. She arrived into Great Dane Rescue today and she only weighs 5 kilos instead of 14 kilos. This is her Anyone travelling this way this weekend..???? Anyone have a friend in Armidale who could help??? . .
  3. I live in North Sydney Council area and the Rangers are great. If your dog gets out and they find it, as long as they can get hold of you within 90 mins they will return it to your house with no fine. The head ranger has three big dogs himself and uses common sense...... plus every park is off the leash here. .
  4. Then correct the information and welcome the chance to inform people of what you do and how you operate. Most of the issue seems that people know very little about you. Making threats demeans you and make you look like you have something to hide. I always grab the chance to make the world better. Show by example. .
  5. Oh please. Haven't you got more important things to worry about? Sorry but I have to comment. I am sick to death of people "seeking legal advice and action". Please...get over it. Just set the record straight and move on. We will become like america with all this crap. I have just returned from Kenya where people are more concerned about finding clean water to drink for their children and a good job is one that pays $4 per day. My driver explained the reason he did not wear his seatbelt, was to stay alive if he was carjacked. Get over it folks and look to make this world better. Lawyers are the only ones who make money from an "action". .
  6. This is great news.....thank you to all who helped find this girl a new home. I have read this thread every day in the hope she had found a new home. I have to ask.....what part of the north shore is she headed to....????? i am hoping she may be a neighbour. .
  7. I live two streets from the Harbour bridge and my windows shake when the fireworks go off so I am now an expert on keeping dogs calm during them. They are inside on NYE with all windows closed and blinds down. Every radio and tv is on, all on different channels and up loud. Lights are on in all rooms except the room that has the least windows. I chuck a thick blanket over that window to further reduce the sounds. I have been with my dogs a few times during NYE and they now usually just sit up alert and look confused. Usually I go and watch them with friends and when I get home afterwards the dogs have gone back to sleep. .
  8. I will ask my former foster carer. I will see if I can twist his arm. It has been a totally crap year for me this year....... my other Rottie also took ill yesterday and we were at the vets with her. I feel like I live at the Vets these days. Lets see if we can make xmas a great one for this girl. . .
  9. I have been asking around to see if I can find a foster carer. Does she bark when she is left alone?? One of my old foster carers doesn't have any dogs any more so he MAY be willing to have her for two months..... I will call him but it would help if I know if she is a barker. My Dane is too ill for me to consider it at the moment. Sigh... .
  10. Wasn't she special......!!!! We are still talking about her and her complaint that her dog kept "shouting at her". .
  11. I forgot to add that I dropped him off about 30 mins before my checkin and I got to the cargo area at the other end within 20 mins of landing, (picked up my bags etc) and he had just arrived 10 mins before. We were gone within 35 mins of our landing. .
  12. I flew a Neo Mastiff to Qld from Sydney and he was well over 80 kilos. We had no choice on the time of the flight as only certain planes could fit him in the hold in his crate. The crate we used (despite asking for the largest crate they could provide) we had to shove him in. He did not have much room to move around. I could see him getting loaded as I sat on the plane and he was totally calm, just bemused. He was fine on arrival and he terrified the staff at the other end with his barking once he heard me in the waiting room asking for him. He bellowed and bellowed and all the staff raced into the main office as they were frightened that he would break out of the cage. He was a total sook when I got him out of the crate and the staff couldn't believe me cuddling this big black scary monster. .
  13. If it happened at Melbourne Council area then call all the Councillors and Mayor. The link to them is here linky It will be the fastest way to get action. .
  14. I don't see why not, I always think the more the merrier, but it might be a little confusing for newish DOLers who haven't met anyone before. What does everyone think? Make them join DOL now so that they are Doler's when the dinner happens Or join them without telling them and give them really funny names.........they wlll be sooooooo confused on the night. .
  15. More information....!!!! Do you need a person in Mittagong to go and take a photo of a dog?? Or do you need someone to email a photo who is in that area. .
  16. This was my pack until recently. Two died eight weeks ago but they all were such good friends. I love having a group together. They can work so well. .
  17. I had three girls until recently with a fourth staying for extended times. We never had a days issue with the main three, they loved each other and were a joy to be together. Only death has separated them. The fourth had some issues that were mainly food related but we worked out those issues, and she loved her stays with her sisters. It can work but it will always depend on the dogs concerned. If they have conflict already and several fights it doesn't sound good. My comment to them would be to put themselves in the dogs shoes/paws. Would they want to live with others who hate them.....???? Its kinder to rehome to a great family. .
  18. Until recently I had two rotties and a Dane and I made all their food. It cost me about $6 per day to feed the three combined. They smelt better and they have coats to die for. I would never go back. I would buy cheap human grade meat...whatever was on sale, or chicken frames etc. Add rice and vegs...whatever was in season. Plus my dogs LOVE fruit. .
  19. I am so pleased for you..... I hope she continues to improve. .
  20. Its so hard. I know my girls have all had a wonderful life since they came to live with me. They were all abuse cases before I got them. They slept inside and got to swim most days in the harbour. They were spoilt rotten and loved so much. They came for car rides and slept on my bed most nights. Cuddles are a daily joy here. Its the loss of the perfect pack and the pain of losing so many so fast with little warning. I have sat here this afternoon watching my Dane girl as I work, knowing that her time is running out and I cannot change it. The tears keep flowing. Hug your babies .
  21. Four weeks ago my pack was this. Three were mine and the fourth was my daughters. It was a well balanced group and they all loved each other. My three played and slept together and welcomed ( usually ) my daughters girl when she visited and stayed. We had some issues with my daughters dog some years ago but all had settled well. The glue was my nine year old Rottie cross. She was the link between all the dogs. She died suddenly 4 weeks ago after a short battle at the vets. Her delightful spirit was no longer here and we all grieved at her passing. Then 16 days later my daughters girl passed away in the night after a wonderful day. We miss her bouncy nature. Now my Dane cross is back and forth to the vets with a serious condition that may take her life sooner than I had expected. Four weeks ago my life was blessed with four delightful hounds who brought joy every day to my world. Now I look like I may have only one after nine wonderful years. Life is so short with our fur kids. Take the time today to hug and cuddle your babies. Don't take for granted what you have. It can change in a flash. .
  22. Thanks for all your comments. The last three weeks have not seemed real. I miss her so much everyday and now that Nala has gone too the pain is even greater. This was my pack three weeks ago..... Chantie is in the middle .
  23. Thanks for all your thoughts. It helps that others understand my pain. This was my pack three weeks ago. Now two are gone and the third is ill. How quickly life changes .
