Am loving all these pics! The oldies are my favourite!

Thanx!! That one is my favourite picture of her ever. She was a very happy smiley girl and she brought a lot of joy to my heart. Two of my current greyhounds, Ziggy & Candy, are her grandchildren. .

Yep, I get that too. My response is now standard - "nope, this is how they are supposed to look; you are probably just used to seeing so many obese dogs around the place". ;)

How Did Your Pet Get Its Name?
New Age Outlaw replied to crazyboutdogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Candy - from the Iggy Pop song of the same name Pearl - from the Janis Joplin album Ziggy - from David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust are we sensing a theme here? LOL! Cleo was already named when she came to live with me. -
Help With A Spot On Riley's Nose - Maybe A Tick?
New Age Outlaw replied to wagsalot's topic in General Dog Discussion
Fingers crossed that you can get it sorted and that it's nothing serious! Candy had a lump come up recently that looked like a wart...it came up so quickly (overnight) that I was sure it was something sinister and worried myself terribly about it. The vet did a needle aspirate, and it looked like it could possibly be something bad. Had it removed and it turned out to be a benign cutaneous melanoma! Nothing to worry about, thank goodness. Hope you get a diagnosis tomorrow, and a good one!! ;) -
Yes, have used Country Pet Motel several times - it's a good place and the people are lovely.

Sending healing thoughts Hannah's way! Just a thought - maybe a blood clot? Not common, but can happen after any kind of surgery? Whatever it is, I hope she recovers quickly.

Distribution Of Single And Multi-dog Households.
New Age Outlaw replied to corrie's topic in General Dog Discussion
3 dogs, inner burbs. Easy to manage because they are greyhounds so don't have big space/exercise requirements! Actually, I am babysitting two at the moment, so there are 5 here! -
No way in the world would I accept "probably" desexed for a dog that is to be rehomed...if there was not an available vet with ultrasound equipment, then I would have her opened up for a look-see. Unfortunate? Yes, but a lot better than the potential consequences if she is rehomed without checking and it turns out she wasn't desexed after all.

What Meat Do You Give Your Dog/dogs?
New Age Outlaw replied to Sam the man's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I feed ox heart, kidney and liver. I am lucky enough to know someone who works at a meatworks, so I get it in bulk, by the box. Then I just cut it into whatever size pieces I want (my dogs are large so I cut into big enough pieces that they have to chew it and give their teeth & jaws a workout) and bag and freeze it. It is actually human grade meat for export so the quality is excellent, and my guys love it! Just last night I chopped and bagged 45kg of hearts and kidneys...cost me $70!!! -
Where To Get Meat In Brisbane?
New Age Outlaw replied to New Age Outlaw's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep! $1 kg for lamb kidneys, $1.99 for ox liver (actually he gave me a bit of a discount off that price because I bought so much of it! ;) ), $3.99 kg for something called "lean trimmings" which look like all the fatty and meaty bits that get disgarded when they are trimming off the meat - no bones in it either! The only thing is, the guy was telling me they dn't always have all the offal...it's just a matter of what turns up with the deliveries, so a good idea to ring first and ask what they have before popping over there. -
Beautiful!!! ;) But waaay too much dog for lazy ole me!

Where To Get Meat In Brisbane?
New Age Outlaw replied to New Age Outlaw's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Went to Jack Purcells, but they really didn't have anything I was after; just some chicken hearts which were a bit exxy (maybe Sunday is not the right day?). However, went to Rock & Roll butcher on the other side of town at Greenslopes and got loads of stuff; lamb kidneys, ox liver, lamb off cuts etc! My freezer is now packed!!! -

Wow, great list! Thanx! I get my mince at Canine Counrty, but I'm more interested in non minced options. Will try Jack Purcell...that sounds great! :D -
I feed my dogs a mainly raw meat diet - I usually have a source of ox hearts, ox kidneys etc which are quite cheap because I buy by the box (20+ kgs at a time), but since Xmas my source has dried up. It may start again soon (fingers crossed), but in the meantime I need some ideas about other places I can get a consistent supply; I am sick of paying $5.00 kg at woolies for ox hearts. I am looking for a place in Brissy that I can get heart, offal etc for my dogs. I am happy to buy it in large quantities and to cut it up myself; I am happy to drive a distance if I can get what I want for a reasonable price. Any suggestions appreciated.

Osteoarthritis & Loss Of Bladder Control ?
New Age Outlaw replied to Sharna3's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Has he had an XRay? I'm just wondering if it is actually arthritis, or something else like spondylitis? -
Laurabolin injections fortnightly should suppress season in most bitches. I have used this on a bitch I had quite a few years ago. It can affect future seasons/fertility so no good to use on a bitch you might want to breed with in the future, but if she is going to be desexed anyway maybe that isn't an issue?

Cats In The Reception Area Of The Vets
New Age Outlaw replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs have never had a problem with the cat at my vets; I think the cat in question may have a problem though...they had to put those little rubber claw cover thingies on it, I believe because it had a go at scratching a dog. I would certainly be super unimpressed if a vet surgery cat damaged one of my dogs. Overall, I don't have any particular problem with it, but by the same token I don't think having a cat roaming any vet's waiting room at will is the cleverest idea in the world...too many potential problems (as already detailed in this thread). ETA And I think that any vet that has a loose cat should have a sign on the front door warning of the fact, especially for people who are new to the practice and aren't aware of it. -
Do You Have A Permit For Fostering?
New Age Outlaw replied to 16Paws's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is it a different from the permit for having more than 2 dogs of your own? Because one of the conditions on that permit is that the animals must be desexed, and some foster dogs may not yet be desexed (especially if they are rescues and are underweight, or sick etc). Just curious - I am in the process of applying for a permit (because I have three of my own), but I never bothered when the extra was a foster dog (because they were never here that long). -
