We charge $18.00 per dog (any size) Monday to Friday and $20.00 per dog Saturday and Sunday. We are located in Sydney but when I lived in Melb I used two different ones and they charged for small, Med and Large dogs and for our goldie and BC it was about $17 each , that was a few years back. PeliLuvR I would suggest that you visit every grooming business in your area and even further a field, and check out their prices, collect price lists etc. Pricing is one of those tricky areas of starting a business, do you position yourself as the cheapest and have to work twice as hard to make the same money as someone positioned in the "rolls royce" catagory. For this you need to know what others are charging and also have a reallity check about how good you actually are. That also has a big impact on what you can charge. But don't undercharge because people will always pay a little more for good quality. Good Luck with your new venture. Cheers Leigh K

Sunsceen For Dogs
The DIY Dog Wash replied to The DIY Dog Wash's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks so much everybody. They are the same items that I found although there was one other that I couldn't find a supplier for. So I think I will stock the Plush Puppy Sunshade spray, Filtabac for noses and ears and the Sun Stop. My dogs noses and many of our customers have been looking for something with summer coming. Hopefully no more sunburn!!! Cheers Leigh K -
Hi Folks I am trying to find a safe sunscreen product for dogs, does anyone know of or use anything that they can't like off or get sick from. Cheers Leigh K

Hi Castell Dandruff is really common at this time of year, not unlike ourselves our skin gets dry and scaley too. Dandruff can be the sign of a serious problem in your dog OR it can be just that- dandruff. Address the dandruff frist then see your vet about other issues after that. These are 3 simple things you can do to help clear up your dogs dandruff. 1. Wash them more frequestly ie: fortnightly to monthly - this helps wash away loose dry skin and avoids it becoming further infected. 2. Brush your dogs coat more frequently as this helps to stimulate the oil in their coat. 3. Add a tablespon or two of canola or sunflower oil to their dinner, or add as mentioned sardines and another product that is good as it contains omega 3 & 6 fatty acid is My Beau available at most pet shops. Goony GooGoo, well I ddon't know about goony googoo, but I do know they are a rock mined in SA or maybe that is WA (anyways) the have a paramagnetic quality to them. The lady that owns the company has her dogs tested on a regular basis to ensure there are no ill effects. She trialled the rocks on her own dogs for 3 years before going to market with them. The key to making them work is to have them in every water bowl, so inside and outside bowls as one bowl with and one without will not acheive the results promised. Why change them every 3 months - don't know -- maybe to sell more !! hehe. Cheers Leigh K

Hydrobaths - General Questions
The DIY Dog Wash replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Gail I noticed that you are located in Canberra. I have been to Dog World there and seen their DIY area. I would suggest that you go and give them a try. You can see first hand how they work and decide if you want to buy one. The best part about a DIY salon is that you leave the mess behind. Storm and Nicole from Dog World are very experienced and will help you get started. They have got inserts for little dogs too, that raise them up a bit higher to take the pressure off your back. There web site is Dog World Cheers -
I know that there are a lot of do-it-yourself dog washing places in Melbourne maybe you could try them out. But of course your own hydrobath would be great... That's why I started my business! Cheers

Only one per wash only, even in the same family. Mostly so they are as clean as possible AND especially if you are paying for it. Heavens above I couldn't even imagine what excuse they could come up with to explain that to a customer. Agh! We also never use in water flea rinses as this is very harmful to the enviroment. We always use a topical application treatment. Cheers

Scared Of Having A Bath
The DIY Dog Wash replied to Norskgra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Norskra Something that many people forget is to spend time prior to the washing doing dry grooming, such as brushing out the knots etc. This is a great opportunity to give your furry kid a lovely massage and praise, leading into the washing and other grooming like drying and nails. Good luck.
