Sorry Ceilidh, I have been offline for a few days. I use Lake Rd Vet Clinic. Jim Dorling. He has always been fantastic with my dogs. I love the way he just plops himself down in the waiting room so as not to stress the animal. Thats actually where the stitches were taken out the other day. He is also very affordable. I tried Moorong St once but for some reason it just reminded me of a Medical Centre type place. I like the personal feel of Lake Rd. When Sari ripped her ear I got immediately on the phone and just said I was on the way. He was waiting for me and took her straight in and started repairing the damage. There is a breeder nearby me that also takes his dogs there too. He thinks he is fantastic.

The vet removed them all on Sunday. She is extremely happy to have that elizabethan collar off lol. She pranced out of the surgery like a new woman lol. She had a mighty big scratch after we got home and the spots where the stitches actually went through the skin spotted with blood but all is fine now. She just needs to regrow some hair on that bald spot Edited because I missed a word. Duh.

I called the vet and made an appt for Sunday. I didnt even know he opened on Sundays. Not bad for a country vet. I had a look at the stitches and they are really tight, I dont think I could manage it myself. She has started scratching a bit and a couple have small blood spots, I hope she doesnt do any further damage before Sunday. I have a sock and some electrical tape, I might try to tape a sock to her foot, she will probably chew it off though. Thanks for your replies. Edited to add that there are not one or two stitches, there are dozens right around her ear.

My dogs stitches are due out tomorrow but I just dont think I am going to make it to the vets. I have so much on tomorrow (and this afternoon) that I was contemplating doing it myself. The problem is I am not totally sure how to do it without hurting her. She has heaps of them around her ear where she tried to de-ear herself on the fence. She has had an elizabethan collar on all week because she was scratching and she has finally broken that this morning so its exposed to her foot now and I wont be able to stop her scratching them and maybe pulling them. Any suggestions on what to do and if I was to take them out myself what would I use? Nail clippers?

I am not sure if it is related but my staffy x wasnt overly keen on Barko. She thought it was ok at first but after a few days you could tell she wasnt keen. She would eat it but reluctantly. I changed over to Supercoat and she devours it. My GSD loved it though.

I used to own a very talkative Staffy but she passed away 2 years ago. We got a purebreed GSD in Feb and when I took her for her vacs the vet actually commented on the fact that my GSD is noisier than the staffy ever was . We had to stop letting her in the house in the morning for her breakfast because she was waking the kids constantly lol. I am sure the neighbours think we are doing awful things to her because of the high pitched arooooooooo.

Our 5 month old GSD along with our 16 month Staffy x (who is coerced into being naughty) have destroyed: one patio swing cushion, numerous bed blankets including a heshian mattress (which I may add are pulled out all over the yard every morning around 5am), numerous kids toys, outdoor furniture cushions and snapped a matching sun lounge, the protective mats off the trampoline, a foam mattress which was in the garage when OH forgot to close the door one night, she has eaten part of my sons Star Wars Battery powered bike, bowls galore and the yard looks like the surface of the moon.

My 5 month old GSD is teething and has lost one top canine and the other is just hanging there. I have given her a couple of things to try and knock it out (apple, kong with spread in it) but its still there. Should I just leave it? Will it fall out or is there a time limit I should give it before intervention?

I have so far not been able to afford puppy school. We only have one puppy school here and its $180 for 5 weeks. I am wondering if it may be cheaper to take her straight to obedience training? She is now 18 weeks and I am worried that she wont be socialised properly if I dont do something soon. What is the average price of basic obedience?

Hi, I am new here. I adopted a rescue staffy over a week ago and since she has been here she has scratched constantly to the point of breaking the skin under her front legs and bits on her belly. I have applied paw paw ointment which has helped a LOT with the itching and has soothed the rash however this morning the rash seemed to be a bit more defined as little red bumps. The biggest problem is stopping her from licking it all off I previously had a staffy with a similar problem and she was put on cortisone injections and tablets to ease her discomfort but I am sure this was a major factor in her early passing. I want to avoid drugs as much as possible. I think it is definately the grass thats the problem, we have a mix of god knows what with a major part being kikuyu. I will be going out this week to buy some Aloveen, any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. TIA. Edited to add she is on a raw food diet. The same diet she was on at her foster carers.
