  1. Have emailed you Julie. The last dog who needs fostering, where is he at the moment?
  2. If you want a dog to be less clingy toward you, perhaps a Golden isn't the best choice of breed. There are many others who are far more independent, if that's what you want in a dog. Otherwise I'm sure two Goldies will get along fine. Is your current girl desexed? Would the new dog be desexed? Entire bitches often don't get along very well, but if they're desexed hopefully you wouldn't encounter too many problems.
  3. Do we know how long the dogs will need fostering for? I can possibly take one short term, but if at all possible would like an indication of how long it will be, I am so sorry if this sounds rude I am not meaning to be....
  4. Are there anymore dogs or pups that need fostering? If so please PM me or post in here, I will check back regularly. Glad to hear all is going well so far
  5. If only for a couple of days, I can take a pup and keep it inside. I am available from 12 noon tomorrow if needed. Will check back here tomorrow early morning.
  6. What sort of fencing do Elkies require? Are they known escape artists? We only have four foot fences on one side. Other than that I could possibly look into taking one.
  7. How absolutely heart breaking, I am so sorry
  8. Sorry but that is not a very attractive pup. But the poor dear, how sad does he look
  9. Very off topic but my (almost) 3 year old niece is named Zali It's a beautiful name!
  10. I'll be honest and say that a breed's looks are what first attracts me to them. I would never own a breed that I didn't LOVE the look of. However there are plenty of great looking breeds (to me) that I could never own as they are not suited to me. Looks attract me first and foremost, then I research like crazy to make sure the breed would be a good fit in my family. If not, oh well admire from afar
  11. Is there anywhere I can buy this in SA or do I have to order it from interstate? It sounds really good
  12. Those baby Goldens are ridiculously gorgeous!!! How lucky you are k_g to be getting one!
  13. The breed average for Lab hip scores (according to the AVA) is 9.4 so a score of 18 is above average. However the hips are relatively even, from what I understand it is better to be 8:10 than say 2:16. Happy to be corrected if that isn't true. I don't know too much about Lab hips though, hopefully others will give you a better idea. Good on you for doing your research first
  14. Which model do you have Paulp? I have a barrel/motorhead (DC23) and it's fine.
  15. That I do! If I'm not working we will try and get there with Zeph
  16. No you can certainly have an opinion and in fact we can see that you do. So how much did you pay for your Berner and Saint? We can work out a real cost comparison. Price x yrs life of dog x vet bills x food. Might be her little dog is a real bargin. I left the thread earlier so missed this. To answer your question, I paid $1200 for my Berner and $1500 for my Saint (who I no longer own, besides the point.) I don't select my breeds based on bargains.
  17. I don't breed. Should I not have an opinion then?
  18. How do you know I haven't done that? Sorry shortstep, but selling unregistered pups for $3000 is ludicrous. Saying in the media that you will be breeding your bitch every 12 months is unethical. Do you not agree? Actually the website says they are priced at $4000 each, and she will be breeding her bitch "once or twice" a year. Taken from website: How much does a puppy cost? A puppy from Southern Cross Klee Kai will cost approximately $AU4000. The price will be set on a per dog basis.. The price is reflective of the extremely rare breed of dog, of which we are the only breeder in Australia, and the only known breeder in the Southern Hemisphere. To me, that says "We are the only breeded in Aus so can charge what we want."
  19. I'm not 100% on this but I have read (on this forum) that having such a sign up actually shows that you are admitting your dog is dangerous, and yes you would be liable.
  20. The instructions include some pretty sensible tips and steps to follow such as: - leave the vaccuum where the dog can see it when not in use so it becomes a regular part of the dog's environment - feed the dog near the vaccuum - progress to feeding the dog with the vaccuum switched on - use the grooming tool on the dog without it attached to the vaccuum - progress to grooming the dog with the tool attached to the vaccuum
