  1. Awwww moosepup! Does he have a name? ETA: also what breed is he?
  2. Ok just spoke to his breeder on the phone, he is 7 weeks old now and weighs about 8kg. She tells me when I get him at 13 weeks (I thought he could fly at 12 weeks, turns out he has to be 3 calendar months) he should be around 18kg!
  3. Thanks guys :) I don't know his weight at the moment, but I've had Saints before and they were around 10kg at 8 weeks. I don't get this boy til 12 weeks though so he's going to be a monster!
  4. New photo of my baby! :D Aged 6.5 weeks. I think he's beautiful and such a chunky little bub.
  5. Now that is cute!!! You'd be forgiven for mistaking that pup for a piglet
  6. I saw something on Sunrise or the Morning Show or one of those today, about wanting to break the record for the most Border Collies in the one place.
  7. What breed is Banjo? And thanks Lisa :) what breed are you waiting on?
  8. That's great to read that your pup is fine Sam :)
  9. Why is that silly? Get the facts first and then have a discussion. No one can diagnose HD simply by looking at a dog... My breeders would want to look at the pup themself first, before sending me off to put a baby under a potentially unnecessary GA for costly X-rays. I completely agree that HD cannot be diagnosed by looking at the outside of a dog, but a good breeder will know if a pup's waddle is typical for it's age and breed etc, and can then advise if there's anything to be concerned about.
  10. The breeder wants you to X-ray first, THEN talk to them?
  11. Growing large breed pups can have loose joints for the first several months of life. Keep her lean, don't over exercise, don't let her jump from any heights. Chat to her breeder for advice, and a trusted vet if need be. No need to X-ray because of one person's comment. If the breeder and vet seem to think there could be an issue then by all means, but a relative stranger? Save your money :)
  12. Thankyou :) I think so too! Here's another of the whole litter, taken at 5 weeks old. I did ask OH if we could just get all 9, but for some crazy reason he said no
  13. LOL!!! Hadn't noticed the 25% off! Might message the breeder about that haha ;) My partner and I are agonizing over names! I really like Humphrey, he hates it. He likes Fergus which I also like, but not set on yet. It's so hard!
  14. I know you guys don't really like photos clogging up the thread so I'll just post one :p
  15. Within Aus will be a quarter to a third of that price :) I've flown a pup from Sydney to Adelaide before and it was around $400
  16. But this is from NZ, not within Aus remember :)
  17. Around the $1500 mark to Adelaide. Plus vet clearance and some other paperwork (can't actually remember what now, not his rego papers but something else he needs to travel) is another $250ish. On top of his purchase price, it's a larger expense than we were first anticipating. But his lines are (in my opinion) to die for so I'm prepared to spend it.
  18. I am horrified by this story, it's disgusting and the vet practice needs to be held accountable. It reminds me of the negligence witnessed in Buddy's story recently When will people learn (people in the industry no less!!!) that dogs are living things? Having said that, Pockets you are to be commended for following this up on Harley's owners behalf, and for offering them Tig. What a truly kind and caring breeder you are, thankyou.
  19. Hi all. I'm importing a puppy from New Zealand soon. I've heard others on here say you can fly dogs cheaper as excess baggage than as freight, but is this only domestically? Could I do this from New Zealand? I'm a flight attendant so flying myself to and from could be done cheaply, so that's not an issue. Thanks for any info!
  20. Wish I could do a road trip, this pup's airfare is HUGE!
  21. Sounds great! I'm a bit the same, I'm planning to show while he's young and if he happens to do well then I'll keep it up. Is your breeder in SA? My pup is 6 weeks old but he's actually coming from New Zealand and can't fly until he's 12 weeks! So I have to wait a while yet too We should arrange a play date when we have them :)
