Ok thanks guys. I have entered, but will contact Dogs SA to make sure that I'm following the rules. If not we will withdraw.

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
cassie replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Your pups are teeeeeeny tiny! I'd be scared I'd lose them! -
As a puppy - no. I'll bath him and make sure his nails are trimmed and his coat is clean, but his puppy coat doesn't need a lot of grooming. An adult long haired Saint requires a lot longer to wash, dry and brush though.

Yes she's a friend of mine and is very helpful :) I was going to call her and ask for advice tonight but time just got away from me! Too much playing with the pup :p I think I'll try to enter these shows anyway, as the fee for Baby Puppies is only $6 per show, so if I lose out on $12 then so be it! :)
-
I'm trying hard to enter some shows that are on 15th and 16th June, but entries close tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll get in on time!
-
Ha! We shall see! Sumo and I have to beat his sister for Baby Puppy Of Breed first, and she's beautiful :)

It's not too bad I suppose, just more "work" than I initially realised. I have to provide proof of his identification, his export pedigree, and proof of his transportation. It's not a lot really but Dogs SA just aren't being overly helpful to me - a newbie to it all.
-
Another question: While I'm waiting for his registration with Dogs SA, can I enter him in a show using his original rego number from NZ? Silly question?
-
I'll be showing my pup too. He's 11 weeks today so we can start entering soon! I have the added headache of having to re-register him with the ANKC though, as he came from NZ. Have been trying to organise that today, it's not easy Haven't bought any show stuff yet either.
-
Thankyou, very helpful!
-
I think you should contact his breeder. You need an export certificate, not just ordinary rego papers Sorry, I haven't listed everything here that has been supplied to me. Yes I have his export pedigree :)

I bought two of those compost fences from Bunnings too after the advice from this thread, they're great
-
I see, thanks.

I have a certificate of ownership for him, and he's already in my name. The flip side has "Transfer of ownership of this dog" but it already says "Owned by..." with my details. So he's in my name I think, I just have to register him with SACA now? Sorry for the silly questions I'm new to this. I will call SACA tomorrow if I can or Monday anyway :)
-
Thankyou. How do I do this, just call up SACA? Is there a form or something?
-
Hi all, hoping to get some advice. I've recently imported a Saint pup from NZ. Before I show him here in Aus, do I need to do anything? Register him with the ANKC or something? Could ask my breeder of course, but thought I might get a faster response here. I'm in SA if it makes any difference.

Peace at last :p

Moose finds it tiring having a little brother to look out for.

Contact Mark Singer, the number one behaviourist in SA in my (and many others) opinion. He'll steer you onto the right track in no time. http://www.caninetraining.com.au/

Getting closer Dory! :D Yesterday was my birthday and Sumo's present to me was sleeping right through the night for the first time He's so awesome. I just trimmed his nails with zero fuss when I was expecting a big carry on! We've been focussing on toilet training and what he is and is not allowed to chew so far, but today I'm going to start him on the lead and some basic commands.

Hi :) I can't give you a perfect answer I'm afraid, as my boy travelled in a crate together with his sister who was also coming to SA, so we used a much bigger crate but split the cost. The freight price from Auckland to Adelaide for the two of them was NZ $ 718.55. Vet clearance and MAF fees were NZ $ 170. So if you halve the freight cost plus the 170 then convert to Aussie dollars, that's what it cost me. Plus his purchase price. Sorry I can't give an easy answer! Where are you looking to get a Bernese from? :)

I just used Dogpower last week to bring my Saint pup in, no complaints Great service.

I notice it says "Typical Analysis". I was always told "Guaranteed Analysis" was a lot better. Any truth to this?
