Do you know where she lives? Maybe send a bunch of flowers or something with a card explaining that you're not trying to be a know-it-all but you are just concerned for her dog's welfare. Say you know she looks after it because it seems in otherwise great condition (if it does?) but you have seen a similar case before where the dog turned out to be in quite serious pain. That's what I'd do. She can't get mad at you if it isn't face to face, and you can write down everything you want to say without her walking off before you've finished. Good luck!

Oh awesome! I forgot the Rott specialty was on! That's actually the reason show training was cancelled tonight, so they can begin setting up for it. That's great that you might get to meet Willow's Dad! Take the camera! Have you met Willow's breeder in the flesh before? What a bummer she's just that bit too young to enter! By the way Adelaide Royal entries close tomorrow (actually I think for Babies we have longer) but get sorted! :p I'm just doing mine now.

Hello to the experienced showies! :) Just doing my online entry for the Adelaide Royal. I am only entering one baby puppy. There is the option to add a single day general admission pass onto the fee. Now my OH and I both want to attend, but does entering a dog give one of us an automatic entry? So I would only need to pay for one additional pass? Hope this makes sense and sorry if it's a silly question. Many thanks!

Thankyou I'll be sure to let you know :) Still not sure if I will go to both shows or just one this weekend. I guess we'll see how we do on Saturday first, that might influence my decision ;) If it wasn't over 2 hours away I'd be much more inclined to go to both, but we'll see.

I am now Whippytails, now that it's all coming together :) I just got the zip replaced and a hole patched up on Moose's old soft crate (rather than buying a new one) so I can use that, saves a bit of money and delivery time! Now I have the gazebo. Just need to buy a comfy chair and I think I'm pretty set!

Raiden is so beautiful! Akitas always have such a classy look about them I think :) The gazebo was a winner, hooray! Now I have somewhere to set up under at the show :)

Bugger! Just got word that show training tonight has been cancelled! no training now before our first show...eek!

I'm off to look at a second hand gazebo today, it's a great price so just hoping it's in good enough condition too. I need it for showing. And Sumo has his first group show training class tonight which I'm really looking forward to! :) Will let you know how we go!

Jack as long as he has shelter and a raised bed so he can get off the cold ground, he's fine outside. Mine love the bloody rain We go through so many towels here!

Most importantly - camera!!! :D I'd take a small blanket or old tshirt that has your scent on it. Ask the breeder to leave it with the pups until you do take your's home. Then it'll have the dam and littermate's scent on it too for a bit of comfort when pup comes home :)

Whippytails, are there any colours that tend to do better in the show ring? Or any that aren't allowed?

Great stuff :) Are there any other Akitas in similar roles? Will he eventually be allowed to go places with you that other dogs can't? Hope you don't mind the questions, I'm just interested! I love dogs with "jobs" and believe they love it too.

Nice to hear an update on Raiden, Lhok. I didn't realise he was destined to be an assistance dog, that's great :) Can I ask what will he have to do? As long as it isn't too personal or anything and you feel comfortable sharing :)

It seems like every time she wakes up from a sleep, she's grown a little more. Cassie, how big is Sumo now? I feel the same! Every day I feel like I can notice he's visibly bigger, especially if I've been away with work for a night or two. I'll have to take an updated pic for you all. At a guess he's weighing around 19kg now, and that's very lean.

I may have found a second hand one for a great price, complete with 4 walls which is what I'd really like :) Just waiting on an email back to let me know whereabouts the seller is located. Fingers crossed! And thanks all of you for the support. I will definitely go to the show for at least one day this weekend :) This particular show is a couple hours away from us (most are at the Dogs SA grounds, which is a much more manageable 40 min drive) so it's taking a bit more forward planning than usual!

No I went and bought a few essentials the other day like a show lead, treat pouch, number holder, but I still don't have his soft crate (only a very heavy wire one that we're borrowing). Plus...we don't have a gazebo, so have nowhere to "set up" and I'd feel like I was intruding or being a nuissance if I asked to sit with someone else So I'm a bit in two minds at the moment as to whether we'll even go
