he is sOooOoOOo boootiful! I just want to squidge his little face! Loki is a massive bed wrecker. He now sleeps on a blanket, and any old, stained or ripped clothes of mine go in his crate too. Looks gross, but he loves sleeping with mums stuff :D

I love the way people keep coming up with how all dogs are the same and breed makes no difference in their aggression responses? Perhaps we shoulkd ask police or security dog trainers why they don't use hounds and retrievers and ask Jack the Lad why he has a Pitbull to guard his crop? I am not a BSL supporter, but at least look at the big picture for an informed decision. I wasn't saying all dogs are the same, I was pointing out that the OP is misinformed. If you really, honestly believe that the people fighting BSL are doing so blindly, then there is zero point in me arguing with you. Do you realise the dog in your avatar will be under threat because of the new identification method in Victoria?

If I was in QLD I'd love to do this Stupid geographical constraints. But can I just say that both of you ladies are COMPLETELY STUNNING, and needn't be uncomfortable in front of the camera. Wow, wow!

I dont have any advice or explanations for you, but what a horrible experience. I was feeling so terrified and upset for you just reading it. Hope she, and YOU are ok

I smell a Troll, so dont want to bite... but "types of dogs prone to active and predatory type aggression"? What sort of dogs would these be? Dogs are predators, and its predatory aggression that causes a dog to chase a ball, and fetch a stick. The dogs that are more prone to such I would imagine would be Hounds and Retrievers, who's retrieval skills and desire to chase are attributes that humans have encouraged, and utilise.

Aust Officials To Kill Pit Bulls, Other 'dangerous' Breeds
Ruffles replied to lmwvic's topic in In The News
The Domestic Animal Act, under section 74 (2) gives council officers the explicit right to enter any land or vehicle, by any reasonable means or with any assistance in order to identify if a Dog is registered, or if that dog is a restricted breed. This has been the same for many, many years. You cannot claim 'trespass', nor can you ask them to leave as they are within their rights, under the law. They cannot however, enter a building that is a residence. -
Not to mention in Vic, if those little puppies happen to look like they might be bullbreed X, which many Lab Crosses do, then they already have a death sentence.

Council Seizing & Destroying Staffy's
Ruffles replied to Saffioraire's topic in General Dog Discussion
A council officer is legally allowed to enter land or any vechicle but not a building used as a place of residence. -
Council Seizing & Destroying Staffy's
Ruffles replied to Saffioraire's topic in General Dog Discussion
Whilst I see what you are saying, there an already an abundance of unethical, puppy milling, AST breeders around, and this is just going to make the situation worse! I fear it will only be a matter of time before one of these dogs that is breed for money, without health or temperament in mind, and who is sold to the highest bidder will be the next thing splashed all over the newspaper. -
Council Seizing & Destroying Staffy's
Ruffles replied to Saffioraire's topic in General Dog Discussion
Councils dont know what the hell they are doing, they also cannot seize any registered dog 'on the spot' and put it to sleep. People need to educate themselves on their rights because the Government certainly aren't going to do it for you. Please see the attached image (print it out, stick it on your fridge!), taken from City of Casey website and produced by the DPI. It helps show the facts of the matter, and everyone who owns ANY kind of dog that looks to have a bull breed in it, needs to become familiar with it very quickly! Also, please be aware that DNA testing is NOT acceptable proof for the purpose of this law. And, just as an FYI, they can differentiate between Australian Bred AST's and APBT, there is a different genetic marker. ASTCV investigated this ages ago, but its irrelevant as councils wont accept DNA proof anyway. ETA: You will be hard pressed to find a Vet who will write a declaration that your dog is not an APBT. They have been advised against it by the AVA as there could be massive liability issues involved. Sucks, but thats the fact of the matter so dont rely on it happening to protect your dog. -
I love the last one! Rocky is blissfully unaware!

How Does Anyone Ever Actually Catch A Lost Dog?
Ruffles replied to Thelms's topic in General Dog Discussion
This is usually me! It happened so frequently that I had a dog bed, and a bucket of water on my front porch at all times because any dog that had escaped or was lost used to come to my front door. -
I love that a dog so typically associated with Drugs and illegal activities, is now shown on the right side of the law. Thank you for sharing.

I have had one of my K9 Pro leather leashes since 2006 and it's still perfect, actually BETTER than when I first purchased it as the leather has softened with use.

He is beautiful MTD. Very sorry for your loss

Cross posted from my response to this in the BSL Forum The American Staffordshire Terrier club of Vic has already spoken to Wyndham council about this, and they have already issued letters to say they effed up because ANKC Registered Amstaffs are most absolutely NOT included in this new legislation. We have also made flyers to hand out in the area to residents, explaining the COUNCILS ballsup, in case they dont actually come through on their promise to send out amendment letters. Please, people need to get the facts before freaking out. The ASTCV is working tirelessly on this and has been for a long time, the DPI contact us directly with any updates, or info so if you would like to keep abreast of the situation, including any updates/facts, or have any concerns then you can join our FB page. I am on the Committee of the ASTCV, and (I think) the only committee member active on this forum so if you need info quickly, please PM me.

The Vic Legislation doesnt state anything about Staff X's because it doesnt need to, what it does state is that if your dog fits some loose random description that could apply to virtually any bull breed x then they can declare it a restricted breed. They dont need to mention 'breeds' because they now have a 'visual standard' in which to declare dogs. Think 22 point checklist, such as QLD. So, if your Bull Breed doesn't have papers, but looks like a Bull Breed then they can declare it restricted. Doesnt matter whether you say it is an SBT Cross or whatever, "if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...".

I keep coming in here, this pic makes me LOL -
Yep, he is a vet. He runs the shelter with the big kill rates. Does he even like animals? Yes, the shelter that kills something like 2 out of 3 dogs, and has millions of dollars of revenue annually. But apparently, all those dogs are Pit Bulls and their crossbred counterparts, hence why they are killed. Think of the children!? You did so well Sumosmum!
