He is so beautiful Staffyluv. I have just realised it's almost been 12 months since I sent my heart dog to the bridge, and it is not easier at all, despite what everyone says.

This is the kind of thing I am worried about. Plus being an Amstaff he does not ever tell me when he is in pain or anything. The not wagging his tail is concerning me a lot. It's not even a case of carrying it low, it's stuck to his leg almost constantly like when he's done something naughty and knows he's about to get in trouble Add to that, he has been exceptionally naughty for the last week or so. Bizzaro. I wonder if he is depressed, but nothing has changed recently to make him feel this way.

Thanks guys, glad you all share my thoughts. I shall book him in. I could just be paranoid but better to know than not.

This is probably a really stupid question and thread, but I feel there is something wrong with Loki. He is really flat, has barely wagged his tail in days, just strange little things I have noticed. But, his colour is good, doesnt seem to be in pain, eating and drinking normally... Can I take him to the vet and say I feel he isnt right and ask they run some tests? Or will they think I am a crazy dog lady? Can you just make an appointment and randomly ask for blood tests? I've never done such a thing, but I am quite concerned.

Why Are So Many Cats And Dogs Being Pts In Pounds?
Ruffles replied to Leema's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with this, and it can even be seen on forums such as this where people agonise over the correct diet for their dog. What's the best premium dry food, supermarket brands are bad etc. but they will feed their cat Kitekat, or no name brand rubbish from the supermarket shelf no worries. Not saying supermarket stuff is the worst but just the comparison to the concern over their dogs diet, but not their feline companions. -
Brought tears to my eyes also, how lovely.

The best I have ever heard is at the Royal Melbourne Show this year, a lady points at a dog in a crate and says "Is that a DASH-HOUND?" and her friend nods, yes yes it is.... It was a Weimaraner!!

Changes To The Crimes Act And Domestic Animals Act
Ruffles replied to wayrod's topic in General Dog Discussion
So, if you're a knob head with a dog that attacks someone, but it's not any of the above things ie. restricted breed, you just get off scott free if there is no civil suit? What a crock. How is that addressing the issue of owner responsibility? Or are they saying that only the above dogs are likely to kill or seriously injure someone? -
Wow! I would never have even thought such a thing could happen. Glad she is ok!

Happy Birthday Maggie! She is so beautiful MTD. I don't know anything about Cockers, but I see her, and I love her

Hilaryo, my friends Rott had a mild infection/fungus thing happening on his flews. The same germs that had caused him an ear infection, so perhaps that is the issue?

When I had my old Cat pts as he had Effusive FIP, the Vets were lovely at the time, compassionate but did not cry. They helped me take my incredibly heavy cat to the car wrapped in blankets, I said I would clear the bill up on the spot because I didnt want to have to think about it again. Now, I was distraught, my cat was my best friend. I got him home, and I didn't know what to do with him!? I felt upset that the Vets allowed me to take him home without asking if I had thought about cremation or anything, and I was left with the corpse of my cat on top of a dog crate while I called cremation services in my area and tried to arrange it myself. Then, a week later I recieved a phone call to say they had stuffed up my bill and can I come down and pay another $300 for the Euth. I was furious. I had been going to this Vet for 8 years. I was so dissapointed. My new vet, only do Euths (unless for emergencies) in the last hours of the afternoon/evening, and they book your appointment so that there will not be anyone in the waiting room when you arrive, or leave. They are excellent like that.

Melbourne Rally, Dog Lovers For A Safer Community
Ruffles replied to sumosmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
The rain probably did turn people away, but I think it also was in our favour and made us all like a million times more dedicated. Well done and thank you to everyone who participated, helped, contributed and even thank you to those who couldn't attend but had us in your thoughts. -

FYI guys, if anyone wants the flyer word docs, or the image files etc for their own flyers, let me know as I actually designed and built them, so have all the original stuff. Looks like it's going to be a decent turnout on Saturday. Cant wait! Website looks great Dju! -
With Loki, he was offered to me by the breeder and thank goodness he came to us, and not someone less experienced etc. Cash, I waited 4 years for. I spent every weekend from Friday, to late sunday with the litter (of 14) from the time they were born, until 9 weeks. I made the choice with her, but it was through careful selection, discussion etc. it wasn't because she was the only pup that waltzed over to me

Can anyone enlighten me on this  Labradors?

omg, best thing ever!

Sincere Condolences GR. One of my most favourite DOL Dogs. RIP Beautiful Man

It is dog eat dog so to speak. APBTs are pretty much doomed, Staffy/AmStaff owners don't want their breed to go down that same route. I don't think it is fair to ban the APBT, but I can see the logic in protecting your own breed in the furtherance of self-interest. I agree vis-a-vis your second point, guardian breeds are def. next on the list. Especially in Victoria- The Kneejerk State. I dont think you would find ONE Amstaff owner who has an education above year 7 that will throw the APBT to the Sharks. As an Amstaff owner, and actively involved in BSL I can tell you that its a large proportion of Stafford people, and those with other breeds that are happy to do it. AST owners are fighting tooth and nail to have ALL BSL overturned, because right now in Vic we are exempt simply by ONE line of text, a line of text that the Government gave permission for ONE person to strike out whenever they want to, without it having to go through the normal channels. AST owners dont see it as 'lets martyr the APBT to save ourselves', we see it as "we have to fight, because we are next".
