Both my dogs ended up with KC about 1.5 years ago and they had only been walked along the normal paths and not come into contact with any other dogs for at least 3 weeks. As showdog said, KC has been rampant this year. Both my two go it again this year, the worst I have ever seen (due to one dog getting taken to the pound coz she escaped) but she was only there not even 24 hours and as I said, both had it very bad.

I was just thinking of Ollie last night! So glad to hear he is doing well, what a champion

The floor is wrecked but is livable for the moment... it wasnt waterproof but it sure is now The dogs are good, there was some not so nice toileting and lots of water drinking but they are all fixed. My house smells of Olive oil though which is a bit feral We were given the Oil from OH's parents... Sarah, picture what OH's parents would be like?! They have like 10 of those barrells and gave one to us when we moved coz its "for family"

Thanks for all the advice guys. Dogs are cool, just a bit sad sack from having to sleep in the laundry all night. NewHound, they are/were timber floating floors so the oil has wrecked them totally and it started to seep onto the slate :D all fixed now however if I have to smell Olive Oil anytime in the next 10 years it will be too soon!

Kristie... that floor was only put in, in september last year I dont think they have had much, i'm sure oil is not so tasty on its own. I'm debating whether to give them a bit of food??

Just got home and find the dogs have emptied a 20 litre barrel of Olive oil that was on the top shelf in their room. They have decided to jump up and chew the tap... Besides that and ruining our floor and the impossible clean up, whats the worst that can happen to the dogs if they have eaten some?? Loki has just vomitted some but they both seem bright and normal. Some advice please? I could imagine they would just be sick but should I give them something to try and soak it up or just be prepared for the poooo onlsaught? Will they have any internal damage? Should I call the vet? Please I dont need any "they shouldnt have been able to get it blah blah" because I am aware of this and it was stupid and now we have an entire room that needs to be refloored but I am just worried about the dogs.

Gamby, Rinse would have been exposed to KC on last tuesday night/wednesday morning but didnt actually start coughing till wednesday just gone.. so 7 days. Loki started couging a little bit on thursday night/friday morning and they have been running together since Rinse had been exposed. Hope that helps a little??

Thanks Dan, they are getting lots of cuddles Called the Vet this morning and they told me to just come down and pick some more drugs up. The Vet nurse said "You need to give Loki two tonight, then one more in the morning then one every evening" and I said "errr... to be quite honest I've already started giving him the tablets" and she just laughed and said that its cool coz I obviously knew what to do. Persephone, I have no idea why I have this idea in my head because I know ZILCH about this sort of stuff but I think I saw somewhere that KC can often cause secondary infections, which may be why they give ANti-bi's

Ahhh TOO LATE. Poor little baby is sick now too... doesnt know what to do with himself. I am hoping the vet will just give me another batch of the doxycycline rather than make me take loki down for a Consult when its clear as day what ails him. I feel so sorry for the buggers, the neighbours must think I have them strung up by the throat with all the hacking and choking thats coming out of our house and yard. No walkies for a few weeks either
