  1. The Aussie from the GIO ad is Hazard.
  2. Please someone correct me if I am wrong but I think the cosmetics of docking are on the bottom of the list.....there are other reasons why some breeds get their tails docked im sure? I cannot see any medical reason why a dog would need to get their tail docked (at birth I understand there are issues that happen to older docks that lead to tail docking for health purposes). Many of the breeds that are docked at birth are done for health reasons. Gundogs are used to flush out birds/rabbits etc from scrub (long tails get ripped up, burrs etc) and docked tails actually act as a rudder in the water. Have you not seen the pain inflicted from split tails?! I for one am in full support of the ban being lifted.
  3. HUH?! How do the import rules have anything to do with bringing in clear dogs? As Eishund has said I wouldn't be throwing the baby out with the bathwater when consdering breeding MDR1 carriers, its just a gene mutation. Its about informing new owners about what products are safe to use and what are on the no-no list. Even carriers can become symptomatic when given ivermectin based drugs. My Aussie is a carrier for MDR1 and as a precaution I don't give him anything containing ivermectin, better safe than sorry.

  5. If I enter that particular show again next year, I'll just staple the lot together, that way they can't get confused. Entry form, cheque and reply paid envelope, then they'll know that the number for that dog (or those dogs if I'm showing more than one) on that particular entry form needs to be returned in that particular envelope which will be addressed to me, because I need the numbers not anyone else who might be listed on the entry form. Problem solved. Show secretaries specifically ask you not to staple them so I wouldn't do that!
  6. I know that the gundog judge for Goulburn today couldn't get there from Melbourne so one of the judges already there did 2 groups instead of just his one.

  8. Because the UK, Ireland, Malta and Sweden have changed their import conditions to align with the other EU countries this means that from the 1st January 2012 they will become Category 4 countries. Details can be found on the AQIS site - http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs

  10. Nope not sad. I had a show name and call name picked out for my next show dog - sadly the bitch didn't take so I never got to use it.
  11. 2 Fields Could you let me know who they are after Saturday when you have a catalogue?
  12. Thanks Aussielover, I have thought of that too, and intend to ask next time we go in. I ducked in to return something at the vets at the end of last week and one of the other vets cornered me and suggested that we sedate him and inject the antibiotics straight into the anal sacs, as a treatment option. I am really hoping that I can achieve some relief for him through the dietary angle. :D I had a dog with the same issue. We went down the path of emptying the anal glands and instilling Baytril(The only drug the bug was sensitive too after culture etc) directly into the glands as well as him recieving it orally. We did the empty and instill daily for around 6 days from memory and I think the antibiotics was for 6 weeks (we had tried 2 week treatments previously). Fixed it never to return :)Thank goodness!!!! I had this issue with one of mine too - what my vets did was put them under, empty out the sacs, clean out thoroughly and filled the gland with panalog. Also a take home course of antibiotics Never had another problem!

  16. The start times are always listed on the schedule
  17. I agree - dilute spots are not a disqualifying fault in the breed. I would not bother with the chalk as unless you apply it properly the judge is going to come away with black hands. And definitely not Chris Stix - they are a very heavy product.
  18. I've gone to sit down again. Gundog ring back on at 1:30.
