If you are looking at grounds and facilities - Para have a great setup. Their grounds are lovely. Gawler's is not bad either but nowhere near the size of Para's. Northern I think are just on an oval now (they have moved a few times over the years) Actually a bonus to Munno Para is they train on a fully fenced (cyclone fence, about 8 foot high) area. They share with the local little athletics club so the grounds are nice and flat and the grass usually in great condition. ETA: PM resent, stupid internet connection!

I will send you a PM with what I know.

If I had little dogs I would go here for sure: http://www.bedbiscuit.com.au/ I rang them to see if they would accept our Beagle. The lady was just lovely to talk to and very very honest about if it met our needs. There was some concern as they didn't normally take beagles and were worried she might dig her way out but happy to take her if she wasn't a digger (which she isn't) but we ended up with a friend oferring to look after her. If we ever need boarding for her I would call them again. I just wish there was something like this for bigger dogs. Luckily my parents always take the border collies.

Darn. Could have done with you last week! Oh well. Good luck on your travels and I wish we can find a house sitter like you when we need one next.

Make your own - can get the size you want and not that expensive to do. Bunnings sell folding trestle legs, identical to those on some tables you can buy. Then you go to their timber section and get an appropriate size ply. Then to the area with carpets and linos and you can get the pyramid matting or marine carpet or rubber or whatever you like then to the glues and get an adhesive. Drive home. Assemble. The trestle legs came with screws and took about 5 to 10 minutes to attach and then a few minutes to glue the matting on. I did it so that it was overhanging and then used a stanley knife to trim it to size afterwards. I think the total cost was around $50, the legs being the most expensive at around $25. I made mine about 5 or 6 years ago now, it stands up under the verandah and is still as solid as can be. Just be careful the ply you buy. Mine was a bit warped so my table is not perfectly level but does the job. eta: You can buy the metal edging stuff and put that on for a bit of extra cost if you want a really professional finish. I never bothered and the matting has not lifted. My table is well used - Jazz loves it and jumps on and off multiple times a day and frequently sleeps on it.

You will be fine Dova! I ook Piper to the first BC Nationals to make up numbers and be part of the experience. There was no versatility award but when we got home and looked at the cataolgue, my girl who I though had no hopes was the only dog to place in all performance disciplines offered, qualifying in 3 of the 4 (damned that last bar in agility!) She ended up with her first started herding pass, gained her CD title, got her first JDX pass and missed her ADX title by the last bar. Not bad for the dog I had not trained in over a year and who had been sick in the lead up and I was unsure the vet would even let me fly her. SO if we can do it - you and Pebbles can for sure!!

They will freight it though. I am awaiting a sample and if the dogs like it I will order a bag in and see how they go on it as a supplement to raw. She did say they are sending to SA and some people order 2 bags at once as it is more economical to do so but I don't think I would go through it quick enough.

I have a BARF shop 1. Had it 4 or 5 years and had no hassles. Never had a smell problem with it, and the heater still works. I agree with Jules it does take a bit to get the water warm. What I do because I am impatient is I throw a bucket of warm water in the wash tank, that way by the time I am finished washing, the large rinse tank is nice and warm. Subsequent dogs are no problem as it heats up while I am drying the previous dog. I like the fact mine is portable and not plumber in. I don't ahev a grooming shed and just use it outside (under the pergola in bad weather) so in summer I just move it to different areas of the lawn so they get a water. I have never managed to work out what hose to get that attaches firmly to the drain and find it easier just to move the bath

Can't help you with where to take your pup for herding, but I will say that doing herding does not guarantee that they will not try and go after cars or other things. That is a training thing. Herding does give them an outlet for physical andmental stimulation and the correlation that it most likely gives is the training and response to commands. Teaching a dog to stop on command with moving prey in front of it takes work and is useful in other situations. Good luck, give herding a go. It is an enjoyable past time but don't expect that it will necessarily solve your problems. For things like car chasing work on a strong focus on you, sit or drop. So teaching the dog to look at you or automatically sit/drop when a car approaches.

I agree with Lyndsay's statements - agility trial on today and being day after Royal did not help. Also families that have been out to the Royal are unlikely to go out again. There were still quite a few people there but did not seem as much as last time. With the herding we were in our arena which is the opposite side of the grounds to the canteen area, across the driveway in a paddock. We set our flag up and made sure it was visible but of course once everyone arrived and there were cars parked in front of us it made us tricky to find. A reasonable number wondered over to have a look but it would have been nice to see some others. Piper and Jazz did a Dancing with Dogs demo at 10am before most people arrived which was good as they were both feral at that point in time, lol. Piper did a second 1 just before 3pm while the cameraman was there. Not sure what time he arrived but judging by the footage they used it was all done in about 5 minutes and after most of the crowd had dispersed. It was pretty crowded by the main ring when the pet show was on.

I am currently working my way through a Disney music webpage to see what is short and boppy and cute. Super is on the list as is bibbidy boppity boo and several others. I will play about outside with Jazz tomorrow and see which 1 works best for us.

LOL - I may yet have a GSD to do herding with so hey an extra BC for freestyle, why not!! Jazz's demo is not looking likely at the moment - I cant find a song to use!! I have worked out what she can do and decided we can manage a heelwork to music starters level (watched your Kenzie video for inspiration) but not freestyle - just need something not too long and quite upbeat and fun. Piper does a good freestyle routine so that is fine and all sorted. Just need to spend 10 minutes tomorrow morning and evening refreshing a couple of moves.
-
I will be there all day. Piper, Jazz and I will be busy running the herding over in the herding arena. We will have some duck herding demos across the day. Piper and I are also doing a Canine Freestyle demo, not sure what time and if I can tidy up a Heelwork to Music routine for Jazz then she will do a short demo too. She hasn't ever done 1 before but as there is an agility trial on that day they are a bit short of some of their demos so we are trying to help fill in some gaps.

That comment really concerned me - it implied that there is no way any other dog is going to bite a child and will be totally safe with children. I said to hubby immediately and where is the comment of actually any dog can bite and supervision is always important.

Golden Retrievers were still being judged at about 5:40 when we left! There are a couple of errors with Border Collies which I am guess are show results page errors. 1st and 2nd place for Open dog should be around the other way. And open bitch/reserve cc the bitch's name is Ch Tehya Destiny All Over eta: Thanks sway - you do a great job getting all the results up.

Border Collies - BOB and BCC Calanais Beyond the Rave RuBOB and reserve BCC Tehya Destiny All Over Dog cc Tullacrest Lik Sip n Suk Reserve was a junior from Tehya. Can't recall the name. Puppy was a bitch from Tookurra. I'm in the car ad the catalogue is on the boot. edited to fix error with class the reserve dog was from.

Does anyone have contact details for them? Or do they have a webpage? I found a page with a little info but SA is not even mentioned on there. -

Is any one able to provide some info on Black Hawk Holistic. It is not a brand I have heard of it. Is it an Aussie super premium? I would love to give it a go if it is. -

Thanks for sharing. That was great to see. A fantastic example of a great relationship between trainer and dog -
How terrible What about contacting the local area dog clubs and asking if oyu can provide flyers there? Just thinking you would be touching base with local responsible dog owners who would care and may have witnessed it or know who else walks there to ask. Hope you boy heals quickly.

I was waiting for your brag That was bad luck with Delta but Izzi and Pebbles did some great work, Pebbles has really settled since last trial. Good job on the loading - those real jobs are so much fun. I would happily just do those and never trial again. There is so much satisfaction from it. Jazz and I had a good time in the yards on Sunday afternoon, she is not keen on small areas so it does her the world of good, mind you she did get a bit cheeky and go in for a couple of unecessary grabs. But it was good that she did, last time in the yards at SACA I couldnt get her off the fence and she kept trying to find the best way out of there.

I got mine today too, will have to let a friend know she can use her preaid slip there too, if they still have any left that is!
