  1. Tlc, we just got the 1 red boy. The other 8 pups are black and white. Jazz's sire is red and we knew the sire carried red so it was a strong possibility. He was number 7 and after about number 3 we kept saying "is this one red?" will be interesting to see how deep a colour he goes.
  2. TLC - love Bronson's tongue out Helen - your photos are always so clever. I wish I had the creativity that you do. Busy week at our place. 9 not so little bundles of joy arrived on Thursday night/Friday morning. I couldn't decide which of these 2 pics from this morning to use for this week. With the littlie of the litter from 2 different angles,
  3. The youngest Leonberger I have seen was about 3 months. They make seriously cute fluffy pups!! I am guessing they would have fairly large litters?
  4. I just gave some of them a quick weigh and they have all gained between 20 and 40g so I am not too worried. Ans the 1s I didn't weigh are the 1s that seem to have a permanent attachment to the milk bar.
  5. I couldn't get powder at our local health food store, I could only get tea so I have been making that and giving it to her cooled down since Wednesday night. I just don't know how much to give her. I think she must have enough at the moment and it wouldn' be fully in yet. They are feeding frequently but quiet and sleeping in between. I figure if they were not getting enough they would be complaining about it.
  6. We ended up with 1 more boy. No action for an hour, she had some food and had setled down and was sleeping so decided it was all over and remade the whelping box with the good bedding and went to bed. 30 mins later I woke to puppy squealing and jumped up to realise Jazz was next to me and so was the squealing puppy - she was in the process of relocating them to the bed!! So got up, got her resettled and went back to sleep, jast as I was dozing off again there was another commotion and I could hear her nesting, jumped out of bed again to realise she was pushing and within seconds there was pup number 9. He was slow to get going, took a lot of rubbing and he looked a bit rattley for awhile and then took ages to get to suck. All fine now - he seems to spend most of his time attached. Vet check this morning went well, had a shot of oxytocin and now waiting on the last couple of pacentas to be delivered. The only comment the vet made was about her not having a lot of milk so I'm hoping we can get her milk production up as supplementing 9 pups won't be fun. Some pics: The last 2 boys who are very similar. Red man 1 of the girls Littlest 1 (girl) curled up in Jazz's tail:
  7. The tally so far is 6 - 5 girls, 1 boy. Excellent as we are looking at a girl. Still a few more to go. She is doing so well - intially wanted nothing to do with them but by pup number 3 was cleaning and feeding them. All feeding between births and very strong. The smallest girl is 298, the boy who was first out is the largest at 372. The others are 354 - 363 so very even in size. Hopefully she picks the rate up from the current 1 an hour so we can get some sleep. At this rate she won't finish until 4am. 2am and we are now up to 8. The last boy was a whopper - 432g. So tally now is 5 b/w girls, 2 b/w boys and 1 red/white boy.
  8. Saturday is when she is due based on progesterone test results.
  9. Waiting sucks!! We have had lots of nesting and panting and now she is calm and resting again. The last couple of trips outside she has not wanted to toilet an dhas gone and got in her crate immediately. She has decided her vari kennel is place to be.
  10. good luck! That was a long night of not much sleep and no action. I do think later today though. She has been panting and restless since about 11 last night and when taken out to the toilet she tries to seek out hidey spots and dig holes.
  11. I think we will have puppies within a day or 2. Her belly has started to drop, she will only be hand fed, can squeeze colostrum out, her behaviour is odd and the other dogs are reacting different to her and her temp was 37.1 an hour ago.
  12. Oh that is fantastic! I must say I have had more really good enquiries so far than I have had doozies. I have been pleasantly surprised.
  13. Gorgeous puppies ST, and lovely photos of them. Sorry to hear about the litte girl you lost
  14. No stricture, so we are a good to go for a natural birth with hopefully no complications. And you know they are big when you go to a reproductive clinic, the vet nurses are breeders as well and they all look and go "Oh my god!" They said they can be out +/-1 or 2 with the ultrasound but they don't think he over counted. LOL.
  15. If I felt she was just being picky and a pest, I would tough it out, but that is me, and then when she decides to eat it I would up the food for a bit to make it up.
  16. Yeo I'm sure a puppy feeding photo countsas a picture of Jazz doesn't it? LOL If we get through the birth without a c-section then I am getting my new camera and lens. Otherwise it will wait until pups are sold. I'm hoping we can get it for all those puppy photos I want to take. The new owners will be lucky and get lots of pics of their babies as they grow.
  17. Yep! With her coat most of the photos she does not look that big but in reality she has a substantial bulge on either side of her body. The poor thing is so uncomfortable and my sleep is already lacking with middle of the night toilet breaks required every 1.5 - 2 hours and then it takes her 30 mins to settle down again. She is struggling to eat much. I tried to give her 3 not very big chicken wings earlier and that would normally be nothing. She scoffed the first 1, ate the second 1 slowly and when I handed her the third she took it and stood there with it in her mouth looking at me then tried to eat it but brought it up. We can feel the puppies move now as well which is exciting And today's activities were to finish the whelping room. I reorgansied and put things in better places, got the scales out, set up an old TV and DVD player for entertainment, put all he dog towels next to the box. All I need to do now is make the bed so I have somewhere to sleep. I also went shopping and got some newborn bottles and a few other bits and pieces just in case. I am working on the hope that if I have everything I need for hand feeding ready and immediately available then I won't need it. The only thing I haven't got and want is a beef liver. Normally I can get it at Woolworths but I tried there, 2 Coles and our local Foodland as well as 2 butchers. I am going to ask the local butcher if I can order 1.
  18. Well we have 1 week to go. And here is the mountain that is Jazz... ETA: This thread is missing puppy pictures. We need some shots of the May litters that have already arrived.
  19. Getting Jazz to do anything is just too much work right now. We have 1 week to go...
  20. Thanks guys, Dancinvale - she ovulated on the Sunday and was mated the Sunday and Tuesday so we are counting from the Sunday which makes it next Saturday for 63 days. Temp just before was 37.8, so yep she is just playing tricks with my mind!! LOL
  21. Thanks Patters - so far she is sounding normal then We are doing temps 3 times a day at the moment so I guess I will have more of an idea when I do temp check number 2 for the day.
  22. Jazz is due on Friday with a large litter and I am starting to wonder if she is going to go early. I have been charting her temp and over the last two days it is on a gradual slide down. But from what others have said and I have read I was expecting to see a more sudden temp shift? Her last few temps temps have been 38.1, 37.9, 37.9, 37.8 then 37.6 this morning. Priort to that they were all 38.1 or 37.9. I didn't really think much of the 37.8 last night as it was similar but then seeing a .6 this morning has made me go hmm. She is giving no other signs of anything happening, she still wants me to play frisbee with her, she has not gone off of her food and she is showing no obvious nesting behaviour (I say no ob vious because she did buld a den in the backyard last week but she is not trying to go to it and is happy to lay about in the house or pester me to play). We have a pre whelping check booked for tomorrow afternoon but I think if her temp goes lower I will give them a ring first thing in the morning and see if we can go in then. But I would love to hear from others with more experience if I should be getting concerned yet.
  23. I know there is a nice park off the main st in Hay that we always stop at for the dogs and a good stretch of the legs: http://www.whereis.com/?id=43392309113E57 Also at Wagga there is walk along the river bank, I think by the tourist information centre. At Goulburn we found a nice park for a walk, I think it was this 1: http://www.whereis.com/nsw/goulburn/chantry-st?id=4338DAE61F6AF0 . There are a few nice spots at Mildura for a walk along the river. My other favourite stopping place on the way to and from Sydney is Lake Bonney in Barmera - the dogs can have a good run and swim which tires them out for the long drive ahead or gives them a chance to burn off some sgteam after a day or so in the car.Balranald there is a small park somewhere off the main st or else find a spot near the river. Basically any of the river towns are easy as there is always a place to park and get out for a walk along the river bank. Sorry they are not in any sort of order. They are just as I thought of them. Oh and of course don;t forget the obligatory Dog On The Tuckerbox stop and photo opportunity. 1 time we had 6 BCs lined up for a photo there and they ended up doing a really long stay as everyone else came to take pics too. LOL
  24. Congratulations!! Looking forward to the pics and getting even more scared about how many Jazz is hiding as the estimate for yours was 5 or 6 wasn't it?
