I a not a fan of those all i one spot ons and prefer to treat each thing as needed. My guys get all wormer tablets 2 or times a year, flea treatment only if there is signs of fleas (maybe once or twice a year) and heartwormers every 6 to 8 weeks as that is a time frame I was told is safe.

For people in SA, I noticed that Complete Canine Company at DogsSA Park now stock Black Hawk too :)

I know crate training gets brought up on here a lot, especially by people wondering why and if it is beneficial. Tonight I am seeing the full benefit of a well crate trained dog. I got home from work to my poor Piper in a large amount of pain and hardly able to move. A phone call to the vet, over there for a consult and a shot of pain relief and home we came. The vet told me the pain relief would make her drowsy and she should be kept quiet and allowed to rest. Easier said than done - Piper moves anytime I move and she was resisting the drowsiness and forcing herself to keep moving to check on me. Watching her in obvious pain trying to be my shadow as she normally is was as painful for me as the injury is to her I think. I went out to the car and got the soft crate out, set that up with a couple of nice big blankets and put her in there. She is now sleeping soundly, resting and hopefully getting the benefits of the pain relief. Within a minute of me putting her in there she was laying down and relaxing. I'm quite sure without the crate she would still be trying to move and monitor activities in the house. I rarely use the crate at home, mostly they get crated at training. Piper at 11 has hardly been crated at all in the last 5 years but tonight when she needed to be able to go somewhere to relax and rest we had a way of making that happen with no stress to her at all.

do you mean Nikon have dropped their shop retail prices? I'm not a nikon user so have no idea how much their prices have changed but this is the statement JBs have about it, dated March 1: Nikon Australia has recently repositioned its local pricing on the full range of Digital SLR Cameras. Due to the dramatic local price reduction and the inclusion of a 2 year fully supported local Nikon manufacturer's warranty JB Hi-Fi has decided to suspend its Direct Import service for Nikon Cameras. We congratulate Nikon Australia for working hard to deliver global pricing competitiveness for Australian consumers.
-
Interesting Huga. It is only Canon though - they have a link at the top about Nikon and when you go to it they have said that Nikon has restructured their prices for the Australian market so they no longe consider it necessary to offer direct import for Nikon. Good on Nikon for realising local prices are an issue and doing something about it.

How did you go with registering it? We bought the student version PS and Lightroom and it didn't come with the code - it came with information on how to get 1 and for that we had to scan a copy of hubbys academic transcript or my pay slip (I work in education) and email that to a special verification email address after which they emailed the code. Until then it was effectively a 30 day trial disc. The product key is on a sticker on the back of the cover that has the disc in it. Ours wasn't. We only got it late last year, maybe it is a change they have made to prevent that?

Is there any info on these ISDS clinics anywhere? I was chatting with someone today who is interested as well. We think there would be 4 or 5 of us keen to go in SA.

Get hom to do like my husband did - he got me the voucher so I could design my own :) Its funny, she has some different fabrics now and different colours for the lining than when I got mine. I think my bag would be totally different if I ordered it today. I still love it though :)

It isn't so much size of the card that can affect i but the speed of the card. I bought a new card last week from out local Dick Smith that is closing down so was a bargain. Just as well it was cheap, it is crap. It is supposedly a hi speed card but definitely not as fast as my other card. I would go to review photos after a burst and would get a busy message as it was still writing to the card. I have NEVER had that happen before and it happened several times over the weekend. So maybe a faster card will help? I have to say though that I would rarely do much more than 10 shots in a burst anyway, even at dogs shows, herding or agility.

Great deal but I am training Sunday. I will have Jazz with me and she might get used for some stock work and swapping sheep around. Will probably use her to bring them in in the morning which is her favourite job anyway :) There will be other days :) I find most of the pics I have got are from "swaps" with other photographers who can never get pics of their own dogs either.
-
Piper - I am sooo hoping you will be there on the Saturday - even though your dogs are further along. I need someone who can take a decent photo to get some of Rommy. I have some nice herding shots of others - I don't have them of Rommy - only a few. I will be there all weekend and last year spent all of the first day on my butt under a tre taking pics :) There is usually another person there doing the same who takes awesome pics. And if you want some with your own camera there is another girl who will be there that is a Canon user and does fantastic work (used to do the agility trials and sell her pics.) ETA: I feel your pain - I have way more photos of other peoples dogs involved in activities than of my own. I hardly have any of dear old Piper and Jazz is just difficult as she works so wide that I can have dog working or sheep and rarely both and without sheep in the frame she could be walking up on a ball or having a nice run in the paddock.

Well you will have fun at the clinic this weekend - lots of photo opportunities and a gorgeous location as well (although unfortunately looking a bit dry still this year).

Getting A White Coat To 'shine'
piper replied to Chequeredblackdog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Espinay has given some great advice :) I know a couple of pet people that have this drier and are happy with it for the price: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DOG-DRYER-PET-DRYER-GROOMING-HAIRDRYER-BLOWDRYER-BLASTER-DRYER-/320876352942?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item4ab5b895ae -
I don't often comment on your marine photos kja, but I have to say I always look at them and often go and check you blog out. Your photos are just stunning and I am in awe of the things you get to capture.

Getting A White Coat To 'shine'

Looks like a BCx to me, Those creamy sort of white coats never seem to get that super shine to them unfortunately. -
I like the second and third jr. I love that wineberry lining. Third would be my preferred option from those combinations.

My litter of pups LOVED this: http://whitehousepetsupplies.com.au/process/shop/productView.html?itemId=47721 It squeaks, grunts, crinkles and has a big soft body they all loved to snuggle into. For my adult dogs, I got a couple of song birds from Cleanrun last year, they were quite cheap but they love them and they have lasted. I just had a look on their page and they dont seem to have them anymore though
-
Esky, it depends on the issue. In Ness's case they got to the point they knew it was soft tissue injury which is the area of a physio. And that is another reason I like the fact Matthew is a qualified vet as well as a chiro, he can tell you if it is something else that is not going to be helped by chiro. I was going to menton Therapetics for straight out massage as well.
-
jr, I have a sony slr. I will have the bag at the herding clinic if you want to have a look.
-
I am getting the same - a login page rather than the ad. Part of the link says "my ad" so I am guessing it is because you are viewing your own ad from your account? I dont use gumtree much though so not really sure about that.
-
Another for Matthew. I like the fact he is a qualified vet as well. I worry about possible damage from some of the people out there that dont have any proper training.
-
If I lived down that way Marion and Dion would be my choice too. He has such a lovely way with the dogs, reminds me so much of my now retired favourite vet in how he handles them :)

Info on the trublu baths and locations. They seem to be everywhere around here. http://www.trubludog...u/locations.php There must be another "brand" around as well - several of the 1s within 10mins of my place are not on that list but I was sure they were trublue ones.

Heidii, I was like you - a little drop and it was like oh no!! Then 1 evening I took her temp and KNEW that was the drop. I hoped to get 1 last night of reasonable sleep but just before bed time she started nesting and was very unsettled, first puppy arrived the next evening almost exactly 24 hours after I recorded the drop. I was warned by experienced friends though that while it helps to see the temp drop dont obsess over it as it is easy to miss. Good luck!
