I agree! When standard course times first came in (god it is scary to think I have done agility long enough to say that!) I had a very wise instructor who said "why bother worrying about it, it shouldn't change what you are doing as you should always be handling to the best of your ability" He hated that people would hear a "generous" time so go oh good I can take my time and do it slow and safely and was always of the opinion that you should be running the course the best way possible for you and your dog so did not even want to know the time. To this day it is something I have believed. I have come out of courses with no idea at to if it was a "quick run" or not compared to the time o others as I have gone out there, walked the course to find the best path for my dog and then run that course. I have known if it felt quick and smooth for us but not how it rated against the course.

That is weird and I can not see how it could happen? Hopefully someone from NSW will know.

Maybe it is just doing some training after all anyone can train, they just can not enter ANKC tests and trials.

Only found the message just now, I haven't chosen either. Never mind - still plenty of time. And OMG, no idea how I will do this 1! LOL

Ah yep, I know the 1. Thanks guys :) I have a few options now so can do a ring around and try and find out time frames.

Where abouts are they Rubiton? Is that the 1 in Central Market?

Thanks Snook :) I actually bought my husband a "decent" (non dslr but better than usual compact) camera fro Christmas so do have that here but just not the same.
-
That is not too bad. I figure while they have it they may as well service and clean it as it is coming up to 2 years old. With my old girl Piper on borrowed time I am just not prepared to be cameraless at the moment for more than a few days At the moment she is mostly good but I know that could change at any time and will regret it if I do't get some pictures of her even though I have heaps.

Thanks Snook. I think I used Digicam once before for a video camera quite a few years ago so thinking I might go with them. Any idea on if they take long or is it a fairly quick turn around? The camera works, the card works and USB transfer works and I am not keen to be without my camera for very long just at the moment due to some stuff going on. If only a day or 2 I would but any longer than that and no, it would just need to wait a while.

Yes, someone else told me there or Photographic Wholesale on Hutt St (I think that was the name of the place)

Anyone got any suggestions on where to take a dslr for repair/service? It is working fine but I can not get the memory card out, it comes part way out and then feels like something is "grabbing" it and won't release. The camera can still read the card so I have got my images off of it using USB transfer but would like it fixed and a clean service at the same time wouldn't hurt it.

Any New Meds To Help With Storm Phobias?

Valium works quite quickly apparently. As I said I never used it but I was to give it at onset of storm -
Any New Meds To Help With Storm Phobias?
piper replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Have you tried a DAP collar on her or a diffuser near her crate? They would need to be on all the time to help but if the storms are mostly seasonal you could perhaps help the anxiety for the worst time of the year with them? I don't think they would be enough by themselves but combined with something like the thundershirt and being put in a covered crate in the quiet may help? If using a medication do not use Acepromazine (Ace or AZP I think...) as it doesn't stop the mind so can actually increase anxiety and make the phobia worse. Valium or other mind altering meds are the 1s to use. 1 of my old boys Reagan was thunderphobic and it is terrible to see them su upset. It was almost a blessing when he went deaf. He was around in the days before DAP and thundershirts so I used to use a kids long sleeve t-shirt on him and crate him at the end of the passage with the doors closed so he couldn't see any of the flashes and the light off. Those 2 things combined kept hm calm enough that he was not screaming or trying to hurt himself. In the early days before I worked out that method with him he went through a window and on another occasion gave himself a back injury escaping a dog run that we thought he would be safe in. I did end up getting valium for him but never needed it due to the loss of hearing. I was told it peaks from ages 7 to about 10 which was definitely true for Reagan. You have my sympathy, it is awful -
Fish Heads: How To Make Them More Appealing
piper replied to Chequeredblackdog's topic in General Dog Discussion
I gave in on fresh raw fish and decided tinned was cheaper, easier and more successful. Only had 1 dog that would ever actually eat raw fish and even then he would give me pathetic looks as though I was trying to kill him or something. LOL -
I would try contacting the various assistance dog/pets as therapy organisations as your daughter's case for 1 is very genuine. And this would mean you have a well bred, trained and matched to your needs dog without the added stress of managing puppy/adolescent behaviour with your daughter's health issues.

I use a layer mask as that way I can easily reverse it if I find I haven't got the edge right. I also change the transparency and flow of the brush when working around the edge and use a soft brush so that it is not a hard line. Another trick I was told and I usually forget is once you have the element use the feather tool to soften the edge to get rid of that hard cut out line. Applying a shadow can help too. I am sure there are others that do a much better job than me but they are the things I play with when I am doing it.

My AFL shots were dismal. Our seats were not in a great spot for it - right deep in the shadows from an overhanging balcony and too far away for the reach of my film. So then I started trying for crowd/atmosphere photos but they failed as well as we were in the back row of our section so I could only get backs of heads

Is it worth it? I was contemplating it.

Lure Coursing In Adelaide - For Non-greyhounds
piper replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
For those with small breeds, the Jack Russell Terrier Club of SA run lure coursing days but I don't know any info about it - I just saw a lady wearing a T-Shirt promoting it last week (in a hospital waiting room of all places!) It said all smal breeds welcome so could be worth contacting them if your dog is a littlie. -
I have recently started using the chicken roll for treats. It is brilliant - soft and quick for the dog to eat but stays nice and firm to handle. Not as fatty as other rolls I have tried for the dog either.

Kirra would have started on 570 wouldn't she Tassie? Piper did, I hated going back down to 500 and it still seems ridiculous that Jazz jumps less than her shoulder height.

Wow, lucky I have tickets to the football on Friday night or I would have been totally stuck on this 1! Otherwise it would have ben a dog show or agility training, lol.
