  1. The rubber backed vet bed will move less. Mine isn't rubber backed and the only time it moved was when Jazz decided to dig it up.
  2. Vet bed is easy to trim to the size and shape you want and is very fluffy. I was always quite comfy sitting in the whelping box on it :) Mine is not the rubber backed. It lost some fluff the first few washes, but not much. The other bonus is it is so quick and easy to dry - even in winter.
  3. I find daisy easy to stretch out by changing it to "BEAGLE!" Lol :) ROFL - Maybe it is a beagle thing? Lots of people don't know ours is called Jessi as she mostly gets "beagle" or "the beagle".
  4. Lovely pics. I love the shots of the coastline and looking down the jetty.
  5. I like the out takes as well. The shot before has her body in focus and a blur for her head as she started to pounce and the last one is one big put of focus patch of hair. Lol
  6. Yes, I am looking forward to trying it out. My old lens was light enough that I could throw frisbee while holding camera to my eye ready to shoot. Couldn't manage that with this 1. Need to go somewhere away from yard, where they will run and play without waiting on me to throw a toy :)
  7. So excited to get home today to my new lens. I got it through www.camerastore.com.au They had the best price I could find anywhere for a Sony mount and their service was brilliant. As an added bonus, they are a local Adelaide based business. I have never before had an online store call me just to say they are sending something that day and confirm all details were correct and the address I wanted it to go to. Unfortunately, by the time I got home, the light on this very grey day was poor. But that is ok I though, I got it for those kinds of times. I attached it and called the girls and headed outside. Man, that lens is SO much heavier than what I am used to. I discovered it is most definitely a 2 handed job to operate the camera with it attached. This meant I did not get the action shots I wanted as Jazz was dropped, staring at me waiting for the frisbee. And her daughter Cinna was standing behind her waiting to chase her when she chased the frisbee. I did discover though, that I got lovely portraits with it. So now you can be bombarded with my first efforts. The focus is off on some - I need to do more practice using a shallow depth of field - I think I need to change my focus mode as the camera wanted to select the nose. Not many pics of Jazz - she was mostly laying too close: The only action type shots I managed: Jazz's daughter Cinna (the not so little puppy) Not all the shots worked - had some fails too. I was NOT expecting Cinna to pounce.... I am definitely excited about getting to know the lens better :) eta: camera is a Sony A580
  8. I did that with my first litter and then also had a sheet of the excel workbook per pup with each pups daily weights and own graph. I also noted things like eyes opened, ears opened, wormed, first trip outside etc and put them in their puppy packs :)
  9. Doing a quick google, it sounds like tylosin is the antibiotic... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tylosin https://www.google.com.au/search?q=what+is+tylosin&rlz=1C5CHFA_enAU503AU504&oq=what+is+tylosin&aqs=chrome.0.69i57j0l3j69i62.3915j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  10. I know a few people that have had to submit multiple times, as in a total of 20 or 3 names. I struggled to fill the list on my application (and luckily got my first preference) so I have no idea what I would have done if I had to keep sending more in. Nekhbet - i think there are a few rules about what can/can't be approved and includes similarity to overseas prefixes as well. Sometimes though I think it has a lot to do with the person looking at the list.
  11. Play with google translator. Put in words you think of when thinking of the breed or your dogs and pick some languages to translate those words to. I got majority of my list doing that. I wanted to use celtic or gaelic names. Most of the town names that i thought sounded good were already taken. In the end my prefix list included things like versatile, agile, stealth etc but all in other languages.
  12. I totally missed these pics RazorBlade, Toby looks quite pleased with himself :) Exciting herding times in SA - only 1 week to go until the Dave Viklund clinics. Dova must be geting so excited and stressed getting everything ready :) Any SA herding people that have't booked in and are interested, it is worth contacting them as I believe there are a couple of places available the second weekend.
  13. Take note that it says may not. I would want to find out when it is required and when it is not. My guess would be based on age of first vaccination. I would also refer to the manufacturers info first to help with the decision.
  14. I received the written quote in under 24 hours. Now a 10 day wait for the part to arrive. Needs a whole new SD card section which at $110 is the most expensive part of the process. Report was camera was otherwise in excellent condition. Amazing given the conditions I have taken it out in and it is not a weather sealed body.
  15. I would google for the manufacturers instructions. I was surprised that my last litter they said 3 and thought that was the vets pushing for it but when I looked it up the protocol for that vaccine was 3 if the first given before 10 weeks and 2 if given after. I ended up printing out those guidelines and putting them in my puppy pack as it had what ages to do each shot.
  16. Given that my 7.5 month old border collie is still in her first puppy collar that was listed as suitable for Mini poodles, I can see how pug and dachie are potentially same collar size. Some of them are VERY adjustable. This collar fit Cinna at 12 weeks and I suspect could fit her as an adult as there is still half of the adjustable bit left to let out.
  17. They used to be only on the Sunday. The way the online entry thing was setup and worded this time though made me wonder if they are now doing them on breed day. My girl is in Puppy so I never looked any further into it. But it does sound like they are having babies on breed day as well. I wouldn't worry too much if it is and you did mis out - 2 days with only 1 in between at the Show would be a lot for a baby. And Sunday is usually a bit more relaxed and social so probably a better day for a baby anyway.
  18. I finally got around to taking my camera in for repairs. I contacted Photographic Wholesalers and Twin City and both recommended Digicam for a Sony camera so that is where it has gone. They will prepare a written quote in the next 2 days and decide where to from there. But don't expect it to be gone much more than a week, unless they have to wait for parts. Ended up being an expensive little trip to drop it off though as when I looked up Photographic Wholesalers online, I discovered they have Sigma 70-200 2.8 that I had just decided to get with my tax money as cheap as anywhere else online. As they are just around the corner from Digicam, I figured I better go in and have a chat. Bonus - it was $50 cheaper again. So deposit paid and they should have it in stock in time for my camera to come back from repair :)
  19. Merle is dominant so I would not think a merle test would be needed? I guess, unless you suspect cryptic merle?
  20. She may want to, and be happy to race but I would think that her energy levels will be lower. Depends on how seriously you race I suppose and how seriously she chases the lure as to if you could/should do both.
  21. For mat training you can use anything. K9 pro have the mutt matts if you specifically wanted 1 of those. But any dog/crate mat will do the job. http://k9pro.com.au/mutt-mats.html#.Uc5fEj4Y0TE
  22. 2 years is also plenty of time to contact some registered breeders and wait for a puppy with all of the necessary health testing behind it to maximise the chance of a healthy dog to be a member of your family for many years to come.
  23. I have to look up on NSAID. So, I pressume Rose Hip is not under NSAID category? Yes, I do recognise and acknowledge the fat plays a key role in this. But, c'mon it's easier for greyhounds than fat labs. Why is it easier for greyhounds? Labs do not have to be "fat labs". I know some beautiful, lean, athletic labs. They are that way as their owners feed them appropriately and do not use the excuse "oh but they are a lab". And yes I do know what it is like to keep a dog's weight down. I have a lean beagle. The kind that gets a comment everytime it goes to the vet as they don't normally see them with a waist as "beagles like their food". Yes Jessi loves her food, but I regulate the amount that she gets to keep her lean. With arthritis in the knee, the last thing she needs is to carry extra weight.
  24. No problem, was the strongest I could think of. My only other thought would be to look somewhere like Bunnings for a low "work bench". Most of the grooming tables I can think of would not stand up to a Saint or are to tall for them to easily get onto or that you be able to easily reach all areas of the dog due to height.
  25. I realised my other MASSIVE error from both runs on the weekend Dova. Yesterday, Jazz kept flipping back to the head and driving me insane. She KNOWS how to fetch and hold a line, is not great at it but she can do it and yesterday I just had to keep flanking her as she wouldn't stay there. This morning I realised I never actually asked her to. I never marked the spot and got her to take the line. Idiot handler again. It really is amazing that she passed and did it so well!
