Dog Mince - Curious On Your Thoughts!?!
oakway replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
The meat the butcher buys is used to supply all the customers, human and dog/cat. They do not purchase separate meat for dogs. Pet meat is the meat cut from the your cuts of meat. The butcher minces this for pet meat. Many dogs require more fat in their diet or they do not maintain condition. Oh, and have NO fear the butcher will not waste preservatives on your dogs meat. That is if he can get it in the first place. Far to many random check made these days to make sure there are NO preservatives in the mince. Not only that, mince sell too quickly these days to be kept by the butcher. -
It was suggested some where that RSPCA were about to breed their own at one stage. Sorry I never followed that one up now.

Dog Mince - Curious On Your Thoughts!?!

Pet mince of course. Better fat content for animals. If it comes out of the butchers shop it all comes from the same beasts purchased by the butcher for your consumption. -
No your not the only one.

I would have no hesitation on having him de sexed.

When you see things like this I just want to go and live some where else. How much power will the RSPCA end up with. That name McGreevy keeps cropping up doesn't it. Well every body will just have to set a body up to counteract it. One of the greatest problems is they have the finance to do it, we don't.

I think that ANKC could be run better, have bigger goals and do more for the members, however I do not think that are the grass roots of the problem. That belongs to the animal rights groups, they have started and keep pushing any issue then can that will make trouble or help lead to the end of ownership of dogs. We as registered breeders are just one group of dog owners that are in the way of animal rights groups reaching their goal. Well why aren't the controlling bodies pushing back. They are the ones we pay our membership too. They are supposed to be the governing bodies that should be protecting our rights as members. Not us fighting to protect them. Because they think they are seen to be better than and above everyone else who breeds dogs. A bit slow especially after pedigreed dogs exposed to see that actually we are the ones they are going after as much as anyone.there's more but not suitable for a public forum. When 2000 people rally for law changes it gets more attention than one spokesperson from one group saying what the group thinks. Both sides of politics saw it as an opportunity to gain votes for no other reason than its in the public eye. Who is going to oppose new laws to cut out puppy farmers? They even have the group who represent commercial breeders saying they want to stop puppy framers. Problem is the puppy farmers have been told they arent considered puppy farmers when the rest of the world still sees them as puppy farmers and no one is really wanting to be seen to be against new laws because after all if we are doing it all right - what do we have to be afraid of - right. Give the RSPCA more powers without more accountability to be a quasi police force - what ever would we have to protest about? Almost 3000 people sign a petition to stop the sale of pets in pet shops - thats at least a couple of million who havent agreed but no one thinks of it like that. About 1% of people who breed dogs really do need to be locked up and stopped from owning dogs and that leaves tens of thousands of us who dont but they want laws bought in which will affect all of the good guys more than the very ones they are supposedly going after. No one is likely to put packets of poo in people's letter boxes who attended a rally to stop puppy farmers - wonder who would be brave enough to stand on the steps of parliment house and demand laws to remove RSPCA's power rather than give them more? Who would stand there, possible you and me and a handful of others. Certainly not the controlling bodies.

What a pity they not putting all their efforts to banning the selling of cats and dogs in pet shops full stop.

Just do a titre test and you will have the proof that it works. Remember a Titre test takes precedence over a vaccination certificate. Vaccination certificates says it has been given vaccine but does not prove that it worked. Titre tests proves that the vaccine did work.

I will also be walking away shortly as I just can't keep up with the regulations that will be placed on me. What I have from those last few matings will see me through.

One would think that the controlling bodies had more sense than to introduce more rules. What with the decline in membership and registrations would you not think that their very jobs may be on the line next if this decline continues. The way many are not renewing memberships, would you not think that you as a Controlling Body you are doing something wrong ?. Maybe we should start at the grass roots of the problem....the Controlling Bodies.

I agree with what you say. But we must also get the public to see us in a better light.

OMG. What a tragedy my condolences to all. Reminds me of years ago the Whippet that won BOB was killed on the way home from judging. -
I do absolutely nothing. I carry on as per normal. This is virus that hits you weather you leave your property or totally isolate your self.

what did they do, thats very interesting? are you in vic? dogsvic had a dog show in the middle of federation square in melbourne and they plan to have more in the future, it was a virtual dog show to demonstate to the public about dog shows and it was apparently a great hit. wasn't many toys there but if they do it next time i think i will ask our club to participate with our chihuahuas and get a few people together. No I'm not in Vic. As far as I can remember they held the show in a Shopping Mall. Appeared to be a great success.

I would agree with that totally and add that you don't need anybody to come to your home personally to have it happen to you. None of us are exempt
