Hi Megs, I would be inclined to say it just the location and the breed. If they had been X bred pig dogs they would have gone like like hot cakes, but being beautiful Pointers most would not be interested or know what great dogs they are.

British Bulldog From Tassie Moving To Gold Coast
oakway replied to Hope Richardson's topic in General Dog Discussion
All I can tell you is that plenty of Bulldogs are shown in Queensland at the Durack grounds. Plenty are bred here too. -
I would suggest that you try Craig Murray in Brisbane www.dogschool.com.au or phone 3208 5222 they will give you all the details.
-
There are about 3 or 4 vans selling at Durack. The only one I know by name is Classic Show Supplies if that is of any help. I believe they have a web site.
-
No, sorry, no tough decisions here. Sad as it is, you know what you need to do.
-
Have you tried taking the frame out of the bag and seeing if it will fit in then. Maybe just taking the wheels off might help. I would not swap my De Luxe for quids.

C.c.c. Qld's New Breeder Accredited System
oakway replied to Swanbrook's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh and by the way black dog I don't hide behind anything. If you don't know the name Oakway you haven't watched enough Best In Shows over the years to see my dogs win them. Also you may not have been at Dog Of The Year when I won that to. You also may not have been at Puppy Of the Year when One of my puppies won that to. -
C.c.c. Qld's New Breeder Accredited System
oakway replied to Swanbrook's topic in General Dog Discussion
People on this forum, I would draw your attention what has been written in the above post. It is bold-ed below. remember that every purchaser of a pedigreed, registered puppy in Qld receives a questionnaire/feedback form from DQ about their experience with the breeder of their new puppy Do you believe this should happen. Surely if the transfer or registration if filed with Dogs Qld., then we as breeders have done the right thing. What more do you want. Is it legal to gather information on people like this. A bit of bad luck if the new owners do something wrong with the puppy (as has happened) and gets upset with the breeder and files a bad report. This smack's as Big Brother Is Watching. Also black dog where has myself or any other breeder said ABS is not warranted. I am all for it. But not in the form it is now. It is self accreditation and you pay a fee and hey preseto you are accredited. An Accredited Breeder Scheme should be something earned not payed for by yourself. Surely you must have been breeding for X amount of year's and produced outstanding dogs in your chosen breed. At least bred a few Champions. There I started the ball rolling on an idea for an Accredited Breeders Scheme. As it stands now any person can be accredited breeder as long you hold a prefix and have bred one litter. Dearest Oakway - I can recall information about the (what was then proposed) Breeder Accreditation scheme being published in the Qld Dog World on at least 2 occassions during 2010. Did you ever once contribute your thoughts and ideas to the proposed scheme when it was sought? Or did you (like many DQ members) simply go straight to the show schedule section and ignore the rest of the magazine designed to keep you and other members informed? Dogs Qld have no way of defending themselves against "snipers" like you I'm afraid - you sit protected behind your user name on forums like this and let fire with ill informed and inaccurate information which is then taken as gospel truth. You have been very vocal on this forum about what is wrong with the DQ BAS but nowhere can I find where you have offered some sort of alternative. You tell us you are a good breeder and that others who are accreditted may not be. What criteria do you use to judge your fellow member breeders - gut feel, jealousy, rumour and inuendo it would seem. And then you burr up at the thought of a puppy buyer being given the opportunity to provide feedback to DQ about their experience with a registered DQ breeder. That smacks of double standards - you tell us you are a skilled, experienced well regarded breeder but you are not prepared to accept the opiniona and feedback from the MOST important link in the chain - the puppy buyer. Sorry but I for one will place no credence whatsoever in your opinions in future. No didn't know a thing about it. Wasn't a member. Didn't even live in Queensland at the time. As to my thoughts re the ABS go back and read. -
Yes definitely depends on the circumstances of the fight.
-
Yes this can happen, but always remember these dogs are on a collar and lead and persons have hold of said dogs. This method has been used to break up fights for years but don't try it on a lose one

Awl Wins Tender For Ipswich Council Pound
oakway replied to Cr Andrew Antoniolli's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well here i go opening my mouth again only to be shot down in flames. When will you people stop giving power to these type of organizations, the AWL and RSPCA. Do you realize they are motivated by the Animal Libbers. It may be nice for pet people's thoughts but it is sounding doom and gloom for the Pure Bred Dog World of Registered Dog. All you do is give them a leg up and they start laying down the law as to who can and whom can not. Do realize that in some states that the RSPCA has more power than a police officer. Just ask Steve on this Forum I am sure Steve will be happy to repost the relevant information in regards to this. If I should have this wrong I sincerely apologies. I along with all of you have NO objections to Council Pounds (thank god for them) but I believe they should run by competent people not organizations such as this. Why councils don't amalgamate the pound and a boarding kennel that will also raise funds to support one another. As for the the clause we see so often NO KILL what happens to the dogs that are so savage that they are a danger to persons and what happens to those dogs that are to far gone to be rehabilitated ?. Again I repeat I have NO objection to these organizations and the wonderful job they do in the community towards helping animals. I also have no objections to the council pounds and for one would sing the praises of the Ranger of the Beaconsfield (West Tamar area in Tasmania on having one of the most sane I have ever come in contact with) again I have no axe to grind with any council nor they me. All I am saying is be careful it may just come back to bite you. Flame suit on. -
University Begins And Where Should My Puppy Be Settled?

Purchase a metal puppy pen or two and set up with a roof if necessary, you can never be to careful. The roofed pen could also protrude onto the balcony but also give inside comforts.

Here I go again If it was mine I would pick the little sot up by the scruff and shake him or pinch it in the neck and the above post about holding it by the muzzle is good to, and let the puppy know it has done the wrong thing. If the puppy had done it to its mother she would have punished the pup also by biting it or flatening it quick smart. An almost 8th month old pup got rough with it's mum the other day and she flattened it quick smart. I bet it won't try that again for a while.
-
Well I am going to incur everybody's wrath here. Being a lets say, a Senior Citizen I keep out of them. I would also suggest that most keep out of them too. Having seen the injuries that have occurred to owners breaking up their own dog fights. The stitches and hospital time can be great.

C.c.c. Qld's New Breeder Accredited System
oakway replied to Swanbrook's topic in General Dog Discussion
Doesn't work that way in Queensland. You can only show in this state for three months and after that the dog must be either transferred to a member or the owner must be come a member of Dogs Queensland. If the rule has changes please advise......... anyone. How do DogsQLD know who is showing in their state and who isn't? Is that three months consecutive? Or three months in total? Or literally three months of show days, so you cannot attend more than say 91 sows in QLD before you have to be a member? 3 calender months. Easy, exhibitors don't like being beaten by a dog that is not owned by an exhibitor/transfered to new ownership. Any points earned also become null and void after the 3 months. -

Looking For The Best Nail File For A Difficult Dog

Go to your local hardwear store and buy a file, like the one your dad has or had in the garage. Great for dogs nails. I think they are refered to as Bastard Files. -

How Long Do I Give Him Puppy Food For?
oakway replied to kitkatswing's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Ask your breeder what they do. I don't feed pups puppy food (maybe a bit up to 8 weeks) mine go straight onto adult. Too much protein in puppy food and can cause growth damage in some breeds. -

True.........that's the object of their exercise, to get the dog world to implode and people just can't see it. We need to be standing up to theses organizations and tell to to go bu@@er off, not get into bed with them. -

C.c.c. Qld's New Breeder Accredited System
oakway replied to Swanbrook's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes I hear you but while ever they are there they have been judged to be more ethical and until such time as they are exposed and or expelled they are promoted and supported more than anyone who is not an accredited breeder. Is that right or fair, should they have ever done what they have done? I think the fact that they have introduced a system which places one member over another is disgraceful and it denigrates every registered purebred breeder. Will this eventually help or hinder ? I believe that over time it will hinder the PR of purebreds and purebred breeders. I think they played right into animal rights hands. Animal rights have gone like mad to put showing and show breeders down. Pedigreed dogs exposed and the fallout spoke against show people because they said we put these things over temperament and health, that the selection for the show ring is cruelty and has destroyed our breeds, that we need outside interference to be sure we get it right - so what do the CC do - tell them they are right that they have breeders in their ranks which are rotten so they need to put extra bits in to discriminate the good from the bad - BUT - every step of the way in almost every sentence in that new code is a bigger push toward the very thing they have been getting belted for - an emphasis and bias toward showing before anything else. 100 percent I think they have really done the wrong thing. I understand someone refusing to join based on the fact that they object to what has been done and the creation of a sub class versus a superior class of membership. None of us paid our membership dues to be told that this would put us in the pit and see us treated as second class or worse especially if we feel that one or more of those being promoted and elevated should be in the pit lower than us. But its time to stop saying you wont join because there are rotten ones there because it hurts us more. I understand the frustration of working your heart out for decades to get it right and then be treated as if you didn't count and whether you choose to join or not its your choice but this particular reason which is being spoken of here is in my opinion not the answer. Thanks Steve, but I am starting to believe those words....You can't beat City Hall and I am not sure I will ever believe in......if you can't beat them, join them. But then I did say in at least one post everybody join the ABS then everyone will just the same as before, no difference we will ALL be accredited breeders. -

Potentially not .... except to breed your next stud dog or bitch and to continue your passion. But if your passion is lost, that's fair enough. For the sake of $22 once every 3 years, I'd probably hang in though and just see what happens. Support it enough to give it a chance. Unless my mind was already made up to quit in which case it wouldn't have been just because of this recent proposal. Erny, I believe this discussion has just helped to top matters off. I remember when we campaigned to get rid of the FCI because we did not want breed wardens, and people interfering with the dog world in this country and I am starting to wonder if we may not be wondering down a similar path and not really realizing it. I can't go on forever and I would prefer to quit while I am ahead. It doesn't mean I shall not ever breed another litter, maybe one or two and then I shall call it quits, so accreditation will never bother me.
