  1. That's you thou, were are talking about someone else you do not know as a paid service. No, I mean I have been doing it as a service to people, who for some reason can not whelp their own bitches.
  2. Does Helidon come under Gatton Pound or Toowoomba Pound. It would be best to find out which one and then look up their rules and regulations concerning dog impounding.
  3. yes it was you, just wasn't 100% sure. thanks again. I think mine would love this can it be frozen and can you use chicken livers? Ta yes it freezes well and you can use any kind of liver. Just cut it up into smaller blocks to defrost as you need it I reply to the last with my heart in my mouth, I don't want to start another Hydatids topic. We always advocate the use of beef instead of sheep because of the Hydatids problems. Also in some states it is illegal to feed dogs offal. Yes chicken liver would work well.
  4. very nice, any hints? No secrets It's an Italian.
  5. I also do this for persons not able to whelp their litters.
  6. Chilled semen. I'm thinking of this with my next mating. This will be a maiden bitch also. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
  7. My next is coming from Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
  8. I've yet to read a report written by any mainstream journalist that provided a balanced, factually based view of an issue that gave equal coverage to all facets of a situation. The report that triggered this thread is a case in point. No offence Leela but if you've seen PTS day at a pound or how poorly some unwanted dogs are warehoused and treated, I wonder why you think allowing veterinary students to hone their craft on live dogs destined to be PTS is so much worse. I have to agree with you poodlefan. It has nothing to do with what a journalist thinks or writes originally. Having worked for a new paper and radio station I know it has nothing to do with what the reporter, reports, it is more to do with what the EDITOR believes is best for the paper. Fact is there are to many dogs in pounds to keep and euthanasia is the most commonly used method of disposal after science has taken what it deems necessary. The most important thing to remember is, that through these dogs knowledge is gaind that will be of help to the vets and dogs of the future so that the lives of these dogs may be saved. end of story.
  9. Ignorant bleeding hearts are the cause of a lot of trouble, that is why people here pull others up when they act without any facts and on emotion. Real world things get screwed up by people living in lalaland. True, so true. And petty thinkers who lack empathy lead lack lustre lives oakway. Get back to the debate instead of trying to score points. Good grief. As a registered owner and breeder of pure bred dogs I believe I have every right to say what I think. What has that to do with this topic? You contribution to this thread has been nothing but petty point scoring so far. The topic is "Dogs being operated on, then killed". Well I agree with it what more do you want. ????. I live in the real world and have done so for many years. It's a fact dogs die in the name of science and will continue to so.

  12. Because right now they don't have infinite time, space or funds. Could you fit a never ending supply of dogs in your house? Leelaa - perhaps you need to come in to the real world - you have been in laalaa land for too long... Reality is there is not enough space and funds for housing unwanted animals for the rest of their lives - who do you expect to have this responsibility? Do you really think all the unwanted animals are going to live in harmony together? Real world sweetheart...it's just not possible... How rude is your post. Seriously! In the real world, babies die and people starve to death. In the real world women get raped and children are forced into prostitution. In the real world everyone dies. But that doesn't mean everyone has to or wants to say "this is reality and I must accept it". Leelaa may not share your thoughts on euthansia or on practising veterinary science on animals that are alive, but she certainly sounds to me that she understands it happens and it is reality. NO not rude at all. What was said is fact.
  13. Leelaa17 wrote And Absolutely NOT! Did you not read my first post? I am against euthanasia altogether. I DO NOT think it is an ok to euthanize an animal unless it is dying or in a lot of pain. If we don't use euthanasia what do you suggest we do .....keep every one of them ?. Sorry not practical.
  14. Go to your vet there is a new drug available for car sickness.
  15. Ok you are all going to jump om from a dizzy height aren't you!!!!!!. I'm all for it. Just stop and think what is learned from these exercises. Yes they need the old, the young and the pregnant to learn on. If they don't learn how are they going to save your dog when rushed into emergency surgery? Maybe, just maybe, if we the breeders had got behind the Uni's and taken our docked breed pups there and taught the students how to dock the puppies we may not have the start of the demise of some our docked breed in Australia. (Just a thought) It's all a learning curve and if there is a student complaining, I have my doubts that this student should be there in the first place. If you want to be a vet it goes with the territory.
  16. Please don't flame me, I'm just asking Why is cooked minced chicken frames bad? Just thought cooked whole bones were bad because of the way they splinter? I have been cooking the chicken mince for one of my dogs as he throws up/squirts out raw chicken. He eats it, it stays down and he poops it all out really well when it is cooked. Really didn't think twice about the bone in the mince as it is ground and the pieces are so tiny, you could hardly tell there was bone in it. I need to make him some more food tonight but I don't think I will now. Think I might just start feeding him something else, anything but raw. I pay $1kg for minced frames. Hi, The pet mince from Lenards is minced frames as you know, so if you cook and feed it to dogs it can compact in the gut and cause all sorts of problems. It is best fed raw. I always make it a rule at Oakway that any smoked, dried or cured bone is never fed here. They are the equivalent of cooked bone and rather dangerous.
  17. Poo eating has nothing to with diet or vitamins or minerals it is just something dogs do. :D The easiest and cheapest method to stop the dog doing it is to add pineapple to the dogs diet. Any type of pineapple will do. I find the easiest one is crushed and I just add a big desert spoonful to the dogs diet. Now remember this is only effective on dogs that eat their own poo or your other dogs poo. You feed the dogs the pineapple that get their poo eaten. If you have a dog that eats others poo at the park it will do no good feeding your dog pineapple.
  18. They can still pick up other strains of the virus, than they were vaccinated for.
  19. No the pup must have been older, you cannot show a dog under 3 calendar months. 12 weeks is 3 months. It was the pups first show she was 12 weeks and 3 days. tommygirl dog show ages work on calender months not weeks. To enter a show the puppy must be three calender months of age.
  20. No. Unless crated or in a dog trailer dogs go to the kennels provided. There is a fee, it used to be $22 a dog. No persons are allowed below to the transit decks other than when arriving and departing.
  21. Amazing how the dog world can be so out of touch with it's self. Well with the term Ethical breeder bantered about as if meaningful, it may well be that leaving decisions on vaccination timing up to breeders is far too risky when considering a code of ethics. All kidding aside, as far as I know it may be a NSW state law that is reflected in the Code of Ethics and not something Dogs NSW came up with. I just believe that many of our organisations are out of touch with the modern dog world. I remember seeing similar wording on entry forms from the year dot.

  23. I use Lenard pet mince and have no problems with it. I start the six week olds on it.
  24. At what age do you let your puppies go to new homes after you Vaccinate? My vet advises that Vaccines takes up 14 days for it to be fully absorbed into the system, therefore we keep our litters on longer. Hi, Use newer and more modern vaccines and the turn around is only 36 hours. Try the new Nobivac vaccines made here in Aust at Bendigo.
