yep ... totally agree with you on that .... many losers will use it as an easy excuse I don't think many people in the thread have suggested that every judge is a face judge, most of the comments seem to be along the lines of it being a minority, but not a trivial minority. As for it just being peoples' opinions - I think the perception of dishonesty is just as damaging as the reality in something like this. If 75-80% of respondents think there is a problem with face judging, that's a problem for the sport in itself, regardless of how right they are. How high that figure is really suprised me. I do hear what you are saying , but look at it in this way, one winner how many losers that believe that the judge MAY be a face judge. It alters the percentage greatly. It appears as though Dellcara and I have (along with many others) a way fixing the situation for ourselves as we don't enter. Problem solvered. Hehe.

well ... It is a FACT that I won't enter shows under judges that I happen to KNOW are face judges. Hey...I agree.............. I do the same, but not every judge is a face judge as the losers would have you believe. Polls tell you what people believe to be correct. I use the polls on this list and always answer what I believe to be correct. Doesn't mean that I AM correct every time. I always vote for the politician that I believe will be doing the good job. I bet we have bo bo ed there plenty of times also.

Yes me to- thanks for starting it poodle fan?!!! Very controversial and VERY valid poll No............. the poll is what people believe to be correct not what is actual fact.

Why would that be the cause? Both traditional and RAW/BARF vets recommend vegetables.... I've been feeding dogs for 25yrs on veg without these issues before... I'm just curious. Well if the rice is cooked in salted water it could be causing the increase in drinking and rice is a filler and nothing else. Vegetables, it depends on how they are prepared.

Why don't you give Wayrod on this list a private e mail and speak to him about it. I recommend him. -
Do You Have Heating Pads For Your Dogs?
oakway replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes I do. It's called my electric blanket and the dogs hog it. -
I went in and checked mine and everthing is just the same.

I would be getting rid of the rice and vegetables in the diet before I thought of diabetes.

You are totally correct. The only way to stop SOME people breeding is to de sex early. We all know the pros and cons about early desexing. But lets face it, it the only sure fired way to stop some people breeding, weather it be intentional or unintentional.

I would never give raspberry leaf to a bitch again. I followed another breeders advise and near killed the bitch and the pups. The worst whelping I have ever had. The vet put it down to the use of the raspberry leaf and told me never to use it again.

Why apologise on behalf of those who supposedly made " snippity" comments ? Perhaps they, like me, are sick of breeders getting the blame for everything that goes wrong with someone's dog. If a breeder tests their breeding stock, selects the best and breeds with the aim of producing happy, healthy animals, then that is all they can do. If you purchase a living animal, you buy the good, the bad and the ugly. That animal then becomes your responsibilty. You have taken the words right out of my mouth. ;)

Something like the Sea Sheppard???

Come on calm down. We only have their word for the Jack/Rotty cross. If you and I went and saw the dogs in real life we may just have hysterics at the owners description. Just be hopeful that the pups will find forever loving homes. Not much more we can do really. The law doesn't allow us go and blow up owners like that. Mores the pity.

Registered Breeding Dog In Council Pound - Help Required
oakway replied to ishka81's topic in General Dog Discussion
For once a happy ending for all. Thanks for letting us all know about it. -
The whole problem is that there a lot of jealous people out there and they get up set when when they see other people consistently winning. They want to blame the judge and talk of these winning persons as faces. The trouble is they forget that the persons they talk about have very good dogs and are very good handlers with excellently groomed dogs. These persons who talk about faces winning forget that these so called faces started at the bottom and worked their way to the top with a lot of hard work to acquire good winning dogs. People forget that showing does not finish with the end of the show. It still includes a lot of hard work at home in training and conditioning. It also includes a lot time and money in going overseas and looking at dogs and watching and learning new training methods. It also includes purchasing top class dogs to show. Weather you import or purchase here you can bet somebody has put a lot of time effort and money into producing a top dog. If you want to want to win, then you too, have to go and give up lots of other activities and pleasures and devote youself to showing and preparing your dog/s for the ring.

it has been reported on another list that if you are flying Qantas after the 1st May 2011 you will now need to use an agent.

Excellent post souff. We as breeders, showers, animal carers and lovers NEVER become desensitized, but, I do believe there are some of us that face reality a lot better than others.

Chronic Unknown Skin Condition - Desperate

I have every admiration for you and those that make this awful decision now rather than later. -
It is starting to sound like another form of judge bashing to me.

Of course people are concerned with their own success. Why wouldn't they be? Its a hobby, not a learning program. What do you see as wrong with current judging methods, that could be improved by people not knowing who the judges are? If you browse through the canine journal each month and check results you may see some results that regularly support the claims that many peaple make on a week to week basis re judging. I would like to say at this point that i admire good dogs' whoever owns them but like many i often wonder if the same dog would win if you or I showed it. I know that many great dogs' get carted all around the country side and i often ask if they are always so good ,and i know that maybe some are, why arent' they showing against the top dogs in the larger cities/ towns...and then i check the canine journal results and it all becomes clear.I would also like to say that even after nearly 30years of showing/breeding I am still learning, arent' you. Remember, that judges are restricted in time and distance as to how may times they may judge the same group in a time period.

It is just depends on the dogs metabolism.

There is no way I would enter any show unless I knew who the judge was. Just imagine entering 4 dogs at an away 3 day show only to find out the judge is somebody you would never enter under in a pink fit, or what if the judge was an interstate friend.

Just wondering how easy that would be if the stud dog's owner was away. Well my thoughts would be, who ever is in charge of the dog takes it to the vet for the collection. This is of course arranged with the owner before hand.
