Ping Pong Ball-sized Lump On Back Of Neck - Brand New
oakway replied to jadesamara's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes they can. Gee, based on that vet's treatment, I'd be looking for another vet!! Can't get blood and gives an anti-biotic injection based on what diagnosis? I agree. Why make that many atempts to get blood from a neck vein when the leg vein would be much easier. -
What Would Be The "right" Thing To Do?

I completely agree with you oakway on the 'expect the unexpected' - the thing I don't agree with you about was that going to a dog park is eventually going to lead to seeing dogs fight... as some of us have said on here - some of us have NEVER seen a dog fight that has been serious, as in leading to blood shed (not that other dog fights AREN'T serious). And I think everyone who goes to a dog park would be stupid to think that all dogs want to play nicely. Again, we are just saying from experience that dog fights aren't as common as people think. And I think people have every right to come on here and talk about a fight they've seen - plus, the OP was actually asking for advice on whether or not she should report the owners etc, not just to bitch about the dog fight. I give up!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have already said "I" was not referring to the the OP. I said stop complaining, not stop reporting. Most of us are just plain sick and tired of these reports (I know I am) of what happens at Dog Parks. What we are saying is, that if you frequent Dog Parks these incidents MAY happen and be aware of it. What some of us are trying to tell people reading this out there that dog fights happen and they appear to be more frequent at Dog Parks. NOBODY said that they were the norm. -

Before this gets out of hand just stop for a minute and think. I think I could safely say that NOBODY on this forum cares or gives a dam if you want to take your dog/s to a dog park. That's your right of choice. But don't come on Forums and complain when a dog fights breaks out. You as dog owners should take into account not every dog is well trained or obedient. Some dogs by the sheer virtue of their nature can be more prone to Hyper activity and can stir other dogs up. Also take take into account that not all owners think the same as you. By some of the accounts that have been reported on this Forum some owners just don't seem to care if their dog is NOT a suitable candidate for a multi dog situation. If you go to Dog Parks be aware that NOT ALL dogs want to play nicely. As I said prior if you want to go to Dog Parks always Expect The Unexpected. -

I agree with you about dog parks. But alas when we have have a variety of unknown dogs together my motto is "Always expect the unexpected" -

Thats the stuipest thing i have ever read. Why is it stupid. I bet I have had more experience with dogs than you. I bet my qualifications in dog training and management out weigh yours. I am well qualified to speak out about dog behaviour. Just go back and see how many posts are similar related to this one..... dog attacks in dog parks. Also if you read my post it was not necessarily directed to the OP but directed more in general about dog fights in parks. I now days basically show my dogs.(Getting a bit old for energetic dog training) :D I attend many, many dog shows with far more dogs attending these shows than dogs in the local dog park. Do we allow our dogs off lead ?, no not bl@@dy likely, why ?, because with so many dogs, and amongst them, some very well trained dogs all h@ll could break lose. When you put a whole heap of dogs together weather they are trained or the average back yard dog out with its owner you can bet your life at some stage one dog will do the unexpected and start a fight. -
That doesn't sound quite right now does it. If that was you or me wouldn't you have rung the local newspaper or radio station or TV. I bet if we had done that the ranger would have ran for his life. The dog was in it's own yard under control.

While people take their dogs to dog parks and they are allowed off lead it is going to continue to happen. Just go and read all the reports we have on this Forum. Would I take a dog of mine to a dog park............NO WAY. -
We use and call it Kitty Litter here in Aust. Brought a whole lot years ago and was sorry ever after. It use was for Kitty litter, never again. I also found it to be very dusty and the cats had very dry coats from it absorbency. The English version may be of far better quality than I used here.

Looks ok to me. If you are in any doubt just increase the food by half or 1 cup a day and see what happens.

oakway replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you go to dog parks with dogs off lead expect this to happen. Their dogs, there lose, if you put your dog into this environment expect fights to happen. Why blame the dogs????? after all, as I said, they are dogs. Why blame the owners, their dog is most likely the best behaved dog home. I believe that if dog parks are going to continue you had all better learn to put up with dog fights. (or don't go) Report them ?, what for ?, their dog was just as much fault as the other. They are dogs, they do not always ask politely or excuse themselves when incidents happen, then all hell breaks lose. Go have a look in the local school yard you will see the same type of thing happening. All you would say is kids will be kids. Well dogs will be dogs. The only people that really win in these cases are the lawyers that pocket the fees. -
Thank you for your factual post Unimelb.

No way would you get me to use Ti Tree, Citronella or Eucalyptus on any dog let alone a pregnant one. If you have any doubts about what to use ring the vet and seek their advice.

Not true. Look at all the long coated breeds that we show that are washed every few days and blow dried and then oiled. Some are not oiled. My own short coats are bathed every week usually in a hydrobath then shown the next day. If we are on a red soil ground or the dogs get dirty they are bathed after the show for the next days show. A lot I believe has to do with using only good quality shampoo and conditioners.

I use Paratak for the worms and Front line for the Fleas. Mind you it would be strange for me see a flea but if I did thats what I would use.

It's so heartbreaking when things like this happen. I'll help you hunt the mongrels down that did this to a poor inocent puppy. RIP little man we all know how hard you tried.

I just wash mine in the washing machine. I also wash light horse rugs in there too. I give it a quick rinse and spin and it's back to normal. I use a large top loader.

Hi, All shipping is pre paid.

Why don't you do it yourself and save the vet costs. I do all mine and have no problems.

In Response To 'beagle Breeding' Thread
oakway replied to Kilgallonklan's topic in Breeders Community
Hi, You should in my opinion seek out a reliable breeder of show quality Beagles and purchase a show prospect from them on the main register of course. You will need to show the puppy to learn what makes a good Beagle. As you are showing you will learn. You will also make friends with other Beagle people and hopefully they will guide you through your early days. This should give you a good footing to further your intrests in Beagles. -
Sorry but is far easier on the both of you to go to the vet and get the new medication available.

Sorry never heard the term split matings, or do you mean dual matings. If you mean dual mating they are being done a lot now because many of the CC registered breeders are so restricted in by their controlling bodies as to to how many litters a bitch may have in an allocated time. This way using dual sire we can beat them and have two litter by different dogs at the same time. Yes it does work and the pups are DNA tested when they are vaccinated and micro chipped at 8 weeks. I have never done it personally but friends have and have found it successful.

Crates must have round holes not slats these days. Sorry but the company is correct.

For all we know the dog may NOT have had the condition when purchased. It also depends on what conditions it was purchased on.
