Sorry but wrong with supermarket meat. You could always try Lenards for chicken I buy most of my dog food there. If you want you could always try the bulk meat butchers. They often have great deals on meats that are used for dogs.

Well in the main I agree however, I think sometimes the worst thing a new person can have is guidance from an experienced breeder or shower. All things are not equal and lets be honest - someone has mucked it up a bit havent they? Again I agree....this is getting to be a habit I do believe that when you and I would have started in dogs it was a great deal different to what you see now days. It's a whole new Ball Game. By the way people these words are coming from a person who has not bred a litter in over 3 years. Yes I know many of you may believe that I just recently bred a litter but it did not eventuate that way.

Steve wrote But if people who want to breed get access to good breeding dogs rather than having to go with anything they can get because the good ones aren't made available to them surely its better for everyone and the puppies they breed. And registered breeders muck it up too. Example. A judge - well respected by his peers. They only vaccinate one male and one female in each litter and photo copy the vaccination certificate no microchips. No gossip this is a fact. We need more people breeding good quality registered dogs whether they show them or not and the only way to do that is to allow them to have access to good dogs and give them all the info and education and support we can. I agree again with what you say, but I find it rather difficult to hand out pups to inexperienced people who wish to breed or show. I have done this and been caught. It has made me very cautious for ever after. Doesn't stop me selling or helping new people, but I have a lot more guidelines in place. I believe that they need guidance from an experienced breeder or shower and the only way to ensure that the pup and in some cases the new owner gets a fair go is to keep the pup in both names till you feel sure all is well. I also offer back up and guidance to the pet purchaser to. I believe that most breeders that are genuine about their breed do the same. We can all get caught at some stage but it makes you far more wary the next time. Like the old saying says, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I agree with what you say, but most start off all honorable and then, the dollar signs start to become more important. I find it unusual to get an inquiry for, Show or Breeding stock these days. When I sell a pet it is de sexed I don't need contracts end of story. Even when sold to other breeders, if they decide they don't want it, they to can do the wrong thing and sell on as a pet not de sexed. I believe what is in the back of our minds is that we are doing what we do to stop any puppy farmer or Byb getting hold of any pure bred stock. Yes we can sit and discuss this for hours and still not come out with suitable outcome. Maybe it is a sign of the times but the average citizen appears not to want to show dogs. Which could open up a whole new topic. Thats why I advise them to do the intro to breeding course but even if they do end up where the dollar becomes more important isnt it better for everyone if they are breeding with dogs which wont do any harm to the breed? Yes that is a fair assumption. But in some of my cases or ones heard of, the breeding has not not been up to the standard the you or I or others would require. This includes the whelping conditions and general health for the bitch and her future litter. That is unregistered litters, use of the local dogs seen at the park. Not enough knowledge of the breed and using dog with bad conformation. One of the greatest problems is that when the pups are sold on the new owners perpetuate the situation by doing the same thing. This goes against the grain with me. I however have no problems with persons who breed and are registered and do the right thing by their pups. I may find myself in a similar situation in the coming years, but I will always breed registered pups and and use the best of the blood lines that may be found. I will also vaccinate and micro chip which may be found to be lacking in some of the non registered breeder cases.

If you own a Frenchie I would make sure it is kept in a very secure area. The more popular this breed is becoming the more we are hearing of more situations like this. Weather they are entire or de sexed they make great pets. If entire they may be stolen and used for breeding. Owners of this lovely breed be aware.

I agree with this whole heartedly. A dog in a genuine attack mode, I believe would not take any notice of it.

Aint that the truth.

You know I am so sick and tired of having to cart so much to a dog these days I am about to go back to the trolley, an umbrella, chair and the small esky.
-
I have not personally seen it, but have heard other breeders talk of teething fits ??????.
-
It is just a sound wave at a frequency above our hearing, once it is switched off it is just that. It does no harm just distracts the dogs from what they are doing. I have one and found it useful to distract the dogs when they were barking. I don't think it would be much good as deterrent on an attacking dog. Well, the one I have would not be. Maybe they come in varying models. I have the Dick Smith one.

Me to can't think of a better to clean and disinfect. A friend of mine washes her croc's in there. Nothing like opening up the dish washer to see a line up of shoes.

I never put pups onto puppy food in the first place and advise clients to do the same. I like to grow them slowly and most puppy foods for me grow them to quickly. This can cause growth problems and having a running breed I stay away from it. Now after saying all that,I must be truthful and say I do wean my pups onto Optimum Puppy but only for a few weeks then onto adult food.

Congratulations, Well Done.

Why on earth though would someone transfer money back to someone, without the cheque first being cleared and you have it as CASH, not uncleared funds. Maybe they deserve to be scammed That's why they use paypal, as they have fake paypal pages which they email confirming that they have deposited the funds. Looks very similar to the real one, it is just the web page address which gives it away. If you're not on the net a lot, then I can see how someone would think it was legit. I'm too suspicious these days and assume everything is a scam, until proven otherwise! You reminded me Dust Angel (yours is pretty freaky!), I got one by snail mail too. A letter from a Spanish law firm requiring my details as I was a beneficiary to some fancy well to do relo. I googled the company, and it's legit, but the address and phone number were different (and from Portugal not Spain). They were asking me to email them, and their dodgy email address incorporated the name of the firm and one of their lawyers, so at a glance it looked pretty convincing. Ahhhhhhh, now I get the gist of things. What you are telling us is that it is not really Pay Pal just looks like it.

I have to agree with Ron. It makes a great difference on where your live. If you are in a tick area you use a tick product. The bitches still whelp and have healthy puppies.
-
I wouldn't. But a six hour flight to Queensland. You must live a long way away or the pup has an out back destination. Good Luck.
-
I don't meet a lot of overseas clients and the the dogs end up with a wonderful life. If they are paying through Pay Pal, which many of us use to pay for our Imports, certainly easier than the bank and usually much cheaper. I have not heard of a scammer asking for payment this way before. Maybe you should look into the purchaser a little further

I am so terribly sorry to hear of your sad loss.

Advice Needed From Those With Puppy Bars
oakway replied to RubyStar's topic in General Dog Discussion
In my experience built in water bowels are a absolute pain, as they are to hard to keep clean. Much better to purchase the clip on ones. Also I don't travel dogs with water in their bowls. -
Please note I bold-ed the word SOME. I also have owned bitches that cycled differently to their litter mates.
-
Yes, made me look to. OP are you sure the dog had two litter within six months ?. Umm, does a bitch come on heat twice a year? If so then she has had a litter each time she has come on heat. The puppies are let outside in the morning for about an hour. It is so good watching them. Then they are put back into their little dog kennel. It is the night time that really upsets me as the puppies cry. I look at my dogs and cats lying comfortably on whatever. The puppies will be well and truly trained to accept being outside but definately not toilet trained. That's vastly different to having 2 litter in six months. Many bitches are bred twice in a row and then rested. Actually, SOME bitches only come back in season six months after the pups are born not always six months after they were in season.
-
You you may do what you wish to, you may not do the above. As far as breeders are aware they are the only restrictions.

Completely agree if wasn't for de barking their would be a lot of heartbroken family's that would have had to have had their family pet put to sleep. For goodness sake what's wrong with an anesthetic for 5 minute operation to cauterize the vocal cords to keep the bark lower. Sorry apologies OT

+1 also that is for international to.
