Neuter Ch Classes- A Question To Ask
oakway replied to InspectorRex's topic in General Dog Discussion
Great idea oakway. And another thought along a similar line, how about our state CCs offering free transfer from Mains Register to Mains Neuter Register for a period of time also.. I can't remember, but am pretty sure there is a cost involved in this? VCA charges to change over which is a bloody rip off. All they should need to do is sight the desexing certificate and enter it on the computer but no they want your original rego cert so they can print you out a new one and charge you for it. Yep charges like wounded bulls for sweet F*(&(*& all. ;) It just appears to me that when some one comes up with an idea that may work and get people back into show ring our controlling bodies do nothing to encourage it. It never fails to amaze me that all our office staff in each state rely on our memberships, registrations, all other fees that are collectable and what with the declining membership one would think that our state body secretary’s would do something to ensure some publicity was given to the matter to ensure the safety of their and their staff's positions. I can see in the near future job cuts for their staff if matter do not improve. -
Neuter Ch Classes- A Question To Ask
oakway replied to InspectorRex's topic in General Dog Discussion
What we need is the public informed that classes are available for their neuters. Most believe that they can not show. Since the ruling has come in for them to be able show, there has been no publicity or encouragement for neuter owners to enter. To get this off the ground we need to give vastly reduced membership or free membership for six months or some such thing. -
Made me think that maybe they could howl the Star Spangled Banner.

Neuter Ch Classes- A Question To Ask
oakway replied to InspectorRex's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would like to see them judged the same way as we do the normal group/s. All the winners of Junior Neuter of breed, for best junior Neuter in Group and the same for all classes. Exactly the same as for our entires. Therefore we would have 2 groups, one for entires and one for neuters. Just take a look at the declining Royal entries and it may give you a good idea as to how our entries are declining. If the introduction of the Neuter Class will help keep dog showing alive then I am all for it. And no, there is noting we can do in Queensland until we have a newly elected body and approach them for the introduction of Neuter Classes. We have a petition ready and waiting for members to sign. -
Neuter Ch Classes- A Question To Ask
oakway replied to InspectorRex's topic in General Dog Discussion
ggrrrr x 2 If it's good enough to offer the class its good enough to award with the same points system. The dog world needs bums on seats and if the way to do it is with neuter classes, so be it. -
Do what most of us do if you have full screen doors, turm them around so the wire is on the outside or do what I did get solid bottoms or again pop rivet a fine metal mesh over the bottom half of the door after replacing the mesh.

Usually a fund raiser for some thing or some one.

Puts a whole new meaning on it's a "light" meal.

It depends on weight and size of the crate. Why not give Wayrod an e mail (on this list) and he could give you a more definate quote.

Maybe a quick word with the pups breeder may help.

Why Do Sighthounds Tend To Be Timid/sensitive?
oakway replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
Italian Greyhounds are a Sight Hound but are in the Toy Group in Australia. -
I use Chris Stix. I don't have a problem with them, but I use then to the way it suits me. I think if you experiment with them in the way you use them it will make a big difference. I love them as the colour does not come of like chalk. It may just be a case of thinking outside the square with the way you use this product.

You can't really treat the liver as such. She is on a special diet to help the liver. Diuretics to get rid of fluid and now antibiotics. The antibiotics are to help remove the toxins that build up because her liver doesn't work. There are some herbal things I could try but I think that they would be pointless in her case. I found this video on You Tube of a pup showing HE symptoms. This is the aimless pacing side of it. Now I am not suggesting you race out and purchase this product and give it to your dog. I would suggest you speak to your vet and discuss it. There was a product on the market called Methonine 90. I used to give it to my greyhounds for liver problems. I thought it may be a helpful product for you to think about. It may not even be available today. It just came to mind and I thought it may be helpfull.

I fully appreciate and understand your position. I have followed this subject over the years and can only report back as to what I have found, weather others like it or not. First, I have never found early de sexing to cause growth problems, with the exception of giant breeds and then that can pose it's own problems with giant breeds needing careful care in raising them, which MAY also pose it's own problems, again which MAY also cause conflictions in their development. Now lets not start a confliction of interest with Giant breed owners but as I see it many giant breeds are de sexed early without any problems BUT have been carefully raised by their owners. So maybe care and diet maybe the big factors in the raising of any breed/breeds that is early se sexed. My sympathies to giant breed owners you are surely in a dilemma. Their are so many factors as to why we sell those particular puppies in our litters as pets and as many as to why we keep some pups for future breeding and or showing. It can be all to complicated for the laymen. But for me and you it is fairly easy to decide who stays and goes. Now before we go any further I must say I have kept many a pup that has grown to tall for the showring and it was then de sexed and placed in a pet home. Now my argument is if I had early de sexed and placed that particular pup in a pet home would many have said that it was to tall because I early se sexed it. Well not in this case. So we are back to square one because the litter mates that were se sexed appear to have grown well and pose no growth or developmental problems. So I say go for it and early de sex at least we don't have them appearing in puppy farms or BYB’s because we were conned by unscrupulous persons. If I have to protect my breed by early de sexing so be it!!!. At least I will never have to worry about it turning up where I wouldn't want it. If by some chance it should turn out a little bit different from its showing ring brother or sister so be it, after all it was sold as a pet and has no guarantee that it will be of excellent conformation, that's why I parted with it in the first place. Let's face it, de sexing contracts don't work in many cases. Many breeders are now opting for Tubal Ligation as this we are told does not cause growth problems. (if there is one in the first place) Allways remember the RSPCA have been early de sexing for years. I believe if we can cut down on the amount of pure bred pups that find their way into puppy farms or BYB’s then we have done the dog world a good service.

Is the vet treating the liver? or just giving antibiotics. Hope she improves soon. Not nice for either of you.

Yep, Mainly chicken frames and Turkey necks. Even the little one has small Turkey necks. As I have said it was mainly purchased for the IG that had problems with the front teeth with plaque. All this has disapeared and now I just give the front teeth a brush when I think of it now. I was brushing once a week with nothing but the brush and they came clean.Whats more it appeas as though she is in whelp so no problems with the product there. and it appears the product can get them in whelp as well I think the dog himself may have a bit to say about that. Ummmmmmm Errrrrrrr he's on the same product. Shows it doesn't effect fertility.
-
I also forgot to say that I know people that are using the product and they do not feed any form of bones and it is working well. All plaque/tarter gone.

Well I use the little spoon at level for the IG and heaped for the Whippets and its working for me. I am also only giving it to the Whippets about every second day now. Still working great for them.
