  1. If only it was so, I've seen BIG dogs with the most unstable, insecure temperaments which are so not within breed standard. A perfect top line goes further in the ring than a temperament within breed standard. Half the dogs in my breed out there showing wouldn't know how to work stock, or be functioning workers on a farm. I'm so passionate about people going on about breed standard, when the actual functioning ability of the dog is never tested. Why on earth there ever had to be a split in some breeds on different lines amazes me, and I have to wonder who actually drove the split? The showring breeders, or the working dog breeders, and the motives behind it. For looks perhaps? I have to agree that most (not all) of what is BEST about a dog will never be seen in a Show Ring. Sometimes I think "titles" should be certified by a Vet (or three) before being granted. But that is another thread. I would be highly doubtful that many vets would know the breed standards sufficiently well enough to be able judge the quality of the animal, other than the those vets that are judges. I fail to see how taking a dog to the vet should sanction it's title. Be it Champion, Grand Champion or Supreme Champion. To gain any of those titles to me, it takes a healthy, happy well adjusted animal. Remember many of these dogs that you believe to inadequate in conformation and temperament are dogs that can travel to other countries and become Champions in that country, only to and come back to Australia the same happy healthy well adjusted dogs that left these shores. If some you are not seeing this in the dogs you purchase may I strongly suggest that you MAY not be contacting the right breeders.
  2. How about searching the dogzonline breed pages http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/list.asp
  3. Wayrod does all over the world. I highly recommend that you get in touch with him. http://www.boardingkennels.com.au/transport_12.html
  4. You may not care who is winning Best In Show or how many titles a dog may have but have you ever stopped to think that unless these dogs had good health and temperaments they would not be winning Best In Show.
  5. I think this may be what you are looking for http://www.magnamat.com/home.html
  6. Only melamine used here. Best stuff invented since sliced bread.
  7. I think your worrying about something that may never be a problem. I would be waiting to see what happened and further more he's de sexed, he isn't a problem to the neighbours bitch.
  8. Dog is from the UK, she means the UK Kennel Club Thanks, I didn't like to say that if it was registered in the American one only, the chances may be ziltch as to registering it here, as we are told the organisation is a non recognised body.
  9. I also heard many moons ago from a vet that thought it may be from the extender the semen is stored in. The extender was changed and a sucessful litter was achieved.
  10. The above and the pound sounds better to me than a pet shop window.
  11. Do you mean the American United Kennel Club ?.
  12. Thanks Oakway. Yes I agree, feeding the diet you do would be adequate. I have never been one to oversupplement in the past, nor treat with prophylactic ABs either, but Ive had a couple of problems and wondered if supplementing would help. Having said that, I havent had a litter for a long time. Im a bit wary with any supplements, especially ones that mess around with thyroid function. So I think Ill give the Sea Kelp a miss. If you feel that you MAY have a problem why not get a T5 Thyroid panel done. That way it can eliminate a lot of things and maybe put your mind at rest.
  13. Personally I don't feed anything to my dogs or bitches in the way of suppliments when they are breeding. I just believe in giving a good healthy diet. As I feed raw with the addition of some dry, I feel the dogs are getting an adequate diet. The last 3 litters were all fed the same way and it resulted in Litter 1. 10 pups Litter 2. 8 pups Litter 3. 4 pups = different smaller breed.
  14. The smell from the dogs could be a yeast infection. Untill the yeast infection is cured the smell will stay.
  15. The best food to feed is the one your dog does best on and that can sometimes take a while to find out which it will be be. It all depends on the dogs as to which one it will be. With a few dogs you may find that you might have to feed several brands. What one dog does well on another may not.
  16. I was told that too but when I spoke with Sporting Terrier Committee members they said it was wrong and she hadn't. ??? Glad I didn't go to Sp/Terrier now - at least she will have not seen any of my dogs before Sydney .... if she did do the show this year in Melbourne. If this is correct, it will affect the entries. It is easy enough to check out, just go and look up their schedule for the show and don't forget to look up any amendments in case the judge was engaged and cound not come.
  17. Hi shantiah, details are on a previous page, $39.99 plus postage from online pet warehouse. It really does depend on who you purchase it off and what the exchange rate is at the time. I can still purchase it overseas with freight included far cheaper than here and all from the computer and it is delivered to me.
  18. By using the PlaqueOff I haven't had to brush or clean.
  19. The product is manufactured from Seaweed. Container says .......Contains only specially selected seaweeds. 'Ascophyllum nodosum'. Is seaweed.
  20. Hi Shantiah, It may well be the same product but it is totally different packaging. Troy may own the right to package under their own label. The one I am using is ProDen PlaqueOff Animal.(there is a human one) It is a seaweed product and manufactured in Sweden. Other than that, all I can tell you is that it works. Oh, and the person that bred my Gaby has purchased the large size from overseas after trialing a small jar.
  21. Look, I know I am going to be in trouble for this but, I don't exercise any of my dogs. The have a small paddock to run and play in. They have toys that they carry around and play with and play chase games. I never exercise baby puppies no matter where I have lived. Even when I have lived in suburbia I never walk the dogs. I would throw a ball or toys and they got more than enough exercise. With what I read on these forums about dogs attacked in parks and on the streets it sure doesn't encourage a person to want to walk them.
