  1. Frontline does work and works most effectively. :) The problem being that some area's are just so flea ridden that as the frontline kills the fleas, the dog is continually going to the flea area and more just keep jumping on and as we can't tell the difference between one flea and another we think they are the same fleas. Frontline was advised of this problem (of not working and has been tested) I read an article on it on the net and it describes exactly what you have said, it appears not to be working. I have not kept the article as I had an idea that it is was already on this list. Check what jr88 had to say above as it is so very correct. There is also a product called Coopex that is usually available from produce stores that can be sprayed directly onto the ground that will help control the fleas that are on the ground. Most people change their brand of flea control in desperation as they are just getting on top of the flea problem and think that the new product is working better when it is usually the old product that has cleaned up the problem. Yes, I use Fipronil for fleas here and it still working for me.
  2. I did put the web link in my original post....here it is again anyhow.. http://www.xp3020.com.au/index.html My apologies I had forgotten all about it. Thanks.
  3. I assess at 8 weeks and what does not fulfil my expectations as show quality goes on the Limited. There are many times when I put a show prospect on the limited register as there has been nobody wanting a nice show puppy.
  4. I have 2 beautiful show leads by Sassy Show Leads www.facebook.com/sassyshowleads
  5. How about a heads up as to where it may be purchased in each state. Or maybe a web site that may give each states areas of purchase.
  6. Does it crumble? Ideally I would like something I can use for tracking. So small, non crumbly and easy to eat but not too messy either. It is of a good consistancy so you could crumble it if you wished to. I just got sick of making it as the dogs are just as happy with me cooking the Beef liver and drying to a leather consistancy.
  7. Nor do I. How thin do you slice the liver to achieve the 'leather' effect, Oakway? LOL, in old money about half an inch. I just put it in for about a minute and see how it is going and keep going from there. If it gets sticky I wash it off and put in the fridge for a while and surprisingly it can dry out to a nice leather consistency. I lay it flat on a chopping board. I the cut it into the size I require last of all. The other way is cook the whole live by boiling then cut into half inch strips and dry off in the microwave.
  8. I see what you mean. I was wondering the same thing about I litter I have at the moment but I think if the buyers are genuine then the forwarding of the slip of paper should not deter them. I had the purchaser sign the limited register form and registered the pup direct to her by just forwarding the form along with the registration application. The papers came back in the new owners name and on the limited register.
  9. I don't see a problem with it. :) We still have the choice of which register we put the pup on. I think it is great the new owners acknowledge that they know their new dog is on limited register, at least there can be no argument about which register the pups is on. The paper we have the new owner sign in Queensland just stated that they (the new owners) are aware the dog is on limited. As far as I am concerned no sign no pup.
  10. Not the best of smells I agree. I do not like bait that is crunchy. To me there is nothing worse than a dog in the ring chewing and cracking crunchy bait. I keep my liver similar to leather and it does not stain the pockets either. Straight beef liver done in the microwave. If you want good firm bait try 500 grams of beef liver, 1 egg, shell and all if you wish, and a cup of flour, SR or plain. Blend liver in blender, add egg and then the flour then put into swiss roll tin and cook for about half an hour in moderate oven for about 30 to 40 minutes. I use a non stick pan.
  11. Slice and put on a rack in the microwave for a few minutes.
  12. It is so hard to get the message through on the internet, but here goes. The baby teeth in dogs start to fall out from an early age. Usually puppies from about 6 months are starting to get what we call a full mouth. That is most of their adult teeth. The baby teeth act as guide posts for the adult teeth to come through in the correct position. In some cases the baby teeth usually the canines don't shed correctly and they need to be removed. Usually the adult teeth can be seen and hopefully they are coming down in the correct position. When babies break their teeth it is not necessary to race out and have them removed. It is necessary to check the mouth daily or more to keep an eye as to what's happening. It is "usually" not the broken tooth that infects its the muck that goes into the hole that's left and causes the infection. Now is the time to remove the tooth and pray that the adult tooth comes down in the correct position. If you have a beautiful family pet it will not be as necessary to be as concerned over the tooth coming down in the correct position as the person who is planning to show their dog. We have standards that give the requirements as to the dentition of your particular breed and if the mouth does not conform to the standard set out, it will lessen the chances of the dog ever being a big winner. So you can see to the person that shows their dog, the teeth can play an important role in its life. Also the cleanliness of the teeth also play a huge part in the dogs life, just the same as yours do for you. I have never had a vet advise me to have a broken tooth/teeth removed and can assure you that I have had plenty of broken baby teeth and seen plenty of others. I do not pay the vet for unnecessary work but would not hesitatet to have the puppy at the vets should it be necessary.
  13. Yes, thanks for that, the only problem with it is we can purchase a 60 gm container overseas for less than the cost of the 40 gm here. :)
  14. The problem comes in that some dead teeth dont fall out, basically my pup wrecked his teeth so bad that they couldnt fall out. I too left them but then he got abscesses on both sides so if any of my dogs ever breaks a tooth again they will be taken out Yes that can happen. But if the tooth is removed to soon the permanent teeth can come into position crookedly. The baby teeth are there to guide the permanent teeth into position. If you wish to show your dog and the teeth have come down in an incorrect position you may find it more difficult to win with a dog with incorrect dentition.
  15. As all puppies shed their baby teeth I would not be doing anything till it caused a problem. I have had many babies break their teeth off with no problems what so ever. The new tooth usually appears when the time is right.
  16. Oakway - was this meant for me? I have fed many ways over the years and our dogs when I was a kid lived long healthy lives and they were not fed premium dog food that is for sure. They got pretty much what was on special and left overs from the bakery and home grown butchered lamb and beef (grew up on a farm and a bakery). They were also hardly ever wormed, treated for fleas or vaccinated - which is a different subject. I am not interested in promoting what I feed my dogs in this thread but having fed several super premium foods over the years my dogs have had mixed reactions on some of the "best" of them. There are a couple of brands of dry dog foods that I am happy to use if and when I want to feed it. However I am happy with what they are on and don't have a need to keep searching for more products. Have done enough of that all ready. As I said above, I am sure many will have good results with it but I won't be using it does not mean I am being closed minded - it just means I am happy with what they are on now. Naaaah, just an observation. But don't forget we can feed dogs in a lot more healthier way now than we did years ago. We have people out there that won't remember what happened before we had dry dog food. Hey, can you remember the tins of dog food about the best you could get was called Tucker Box. Boy that was awhile ago now.
  17. No not available. But why would you want to feed porridge in the first place. :) Not a product I would want to put in puppies stomach's.
  18. Yes but some of them are to dam dear and every penny counts these days. :)
  19. I see no reason why this food could not be used successfully. Always remember you feed a dog what it does well on, until you try a food you will never know. I have very young dogs at the moment and I am doing my best to keep the protein down for growth reasons. I do believe what we feed our dogs does have an effect on the growth rate, but it does not mean they could not go onto it at a later date. They are only 3 to 4 months and I really don't want an Italian Greyhound the size of a Whippet. I remember when the first premium food came into the country and it to was treated with suspicion, but after proving itself it is now a household name in the dog world. I will be keeping an eye out for this product and I will give it a try with the adults and see what results it gives me. Please don’t keep a closed mind over a new products, just because another didn’t work for you, does not mean this will not. Also, I have no connection with this product. I didn’t even know of it’s existence till it appeared on this forum.
  20. Hi ellz, I have used both and this is a far superior product. edited to say that this a very naturel product as it is seaweed and I have my suspicions as to where it may come from :) and that it make's it an easy guess for your and me. I'm having a bit of trouble with Mandela. He's been on the Proden for about 4 weeks and there is very little improvement in the plaque that has built up on his teeth. I'm anxious to be rid of it for his teeth/gum sake, but also because I'm not sure his auto-immune system isn't having a bit of a hissy fit at the presence of the plaque. I'm continuing with the Proden and would expect that I should see obvious improvement given another four weeks. But might try Ellz's suggestion as well - except that I won't administer the Fragaria Vesca in his water ... rather, I intend to dissolve it and use it to wipe on his teeth. Maybe combating it with both will get things going a bit faster. Anyone know of/think that what I'd be doing in this respect is wrong/detrimental? You do whatever you think is best for your dog. :) I have every sympathy for you in having to deal with a problem dog. Mind you there may be nothing to relieve his situation. You go under the gold star in my opinion for perseverance.

  22. It's a pretty good dog food as dog foods go. I would use it. My only problem is, I feel it is too high in protein as I also feed meat.
  23. Thank you so much. I will let you know if any thing should change. The product should be in two names. Mine you know. :)
  24. Would you be so kind as to bring back 3 containers for me please.
