Yes, I purchased one from the USA sight unseen and she is a great little dog.I couldn't be happier. I have purchased from breeders many pups sight unseen. Have you ever thought that your warning may be doing the sellers in other states a great dis-service ?. Not only that, the the puppy buyers may be missing out on getting a great puppy. Not all of us are unethical and I take great umbridge at your insinuation. It is always easily overcome by any puppy purchasers who may be a bit wary, just ask them to ring the Controlling Body of your state and and ask if they have ever had any problems or complaints about the breeder you are dealing with. Also ask if they have friend that may be will to see the puppy on their behalf. I do this and have never had a problem. Not that I breed very of thess days. The word ethical and reputable does apply to many of us that breed and sell to other states. Yes, I will agree that there are some that are unethical and some that are scammers where the pup does not even exhist but if the purchasers did their research into the breed and the breeder they should have little or no problems. A disservice? No, not at all. You qualify my statements further on in your post when you say "Also ask if they have friend that may be will to see the puppy on their behalf." You are therefore suggesting it is a good idea to veiw the pup first. There is more than one way to skin a cat as they say. Personally, I'd prefer to be the eyes however, as I have done in rescue, I have used other people to act on my behalf and be my eyes. Asking a friend to look at the pup first is the same thing. Take umbridge all you like. To think that I am saying that people who sell dogs interstate are unethical takes a HUGE stretch of imagination. Seriously. NO I DON'T qualify any statement. I find I do it to give a service because we have people telling prospective buyers not to buy interstate always go and visit the breeder.!!! Then again we have some great purchasers that do their research and home work and end up purchasing just what they wanted from interstate from ethical reliable breeders. Stop huffing. It won't change anything. What over YOU stop kidding yourself. Your the one that said it not me.!!!! I would never tell anybody not to purchase from an interstate seller. Looks like we can leave that up to you.

You are totally correct and it does go on so I am told.

No - I looked into getting a tooth scaler but got put off because I lost confidence as to whether I was getting a good quality tool and not one that would cause damage. Wish I could pop into a pet store to get one ..... I'm so old fashioned - I like to touch/feel :D . A bit more to it than that. But you're right - it is probably what I need to do and I'll put my mind back into getting what I need to get for the job. Now, I have found two ways about going to get a good one. Also there are many scalers that do different jobs. You could always ask the dentist to purchase one for you or go and ask your vet about getting one for you. I have always used a scaler with a flat side but I saw a friend with one with a hook that appeared to be good for the job of getting behind the tarter and just pulling/hooking it off. Her dentist gave it to her as it was getting on the old side, how lucky was she. :)

Is it possible the tarter needs pulling off. My friend said the same as you and one day just pulled it off with a finger nail. She was amazed it came away so easily. It has never returned. Do you have a tooth scaler that may help pull the old stuff off.

Welcome to the club Leo puppy04. Wait till you have been doing it for as long as some of us have. By the way, you left out the cost the bitch in the first place and the cost of proving that she is worthy to be bred by putting a title on her. Add up all her costs plus the entry fees. Yes, it is about time some of us made a profit, by I don't know how with the price we charege. If we really did charge a true price we would never sell a pup. :)

Must Have Grooming Products For Long Haired Dogs
oakway replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It has nothing to do with the shampoo. The dog may have been dropping coat and by bathing without getting out all the dead coat first, it has just let go and matted. You will need to get the matted coat out before you do anything else. You may need a force dryer to help remove the coat by blowing it all out. You will still have to groom but the dryer will make it a lot easier to see where the coat is matted. What you may need is a stitch un picker from a sewing shop the one with the little bead on the point. Use this to split the mat into many little mats, starting at the skin and working up, using the dryer and the comb to get rid of it all. If the dog is a solid mat you may have to clip it off and start again. -
And you reckon the 'excess' on the insurance policy for the store would cover a $30 item...? Come off it, it is done in job lots for damaged stock.
-
Do not pay that's why shops have insurace.
-
Exactly, because YOU believe it would be difficult. That's completely different to somebody else saying, "you should only have one breed because that is all you can do justice to"...... I get very tired of people who insist that they know best what another individual can cope with. Yes, what's sauce for the Goose is not always sauce for the Gander. We are all individuals and cope with different things in different ways. I would not cope with a third breed. :)
-
I also believe that it is an individual thing. But I also believe that it would be difficult for me to have more than two breeds and justice to all. :)

This is question for those that use marine carpet or any form of washable carpet for that matter. Have any of you found that the puppies have sought out a carpet area to use as a toilet area as time progresses ?. It would be a worry of mine. :)

The best I can suggest is in a pen outside on the concrete where the floor can easily hosed and sanitised.

Agree, give Dogs Queensland a call or e mail them 07 3252 2661 [email protected]

I also have the feeling that this topic has come up before. I also agree with what the other posters have written.

The neighbour can not shoot the dog while the dog is on it's own property. Should the dog wander onto the neighbours property they could. If I was your friend I would be seeing that the gate is permanently locked or removed.

Looks like Loopy Lola could be right and the pup may not exhist. As I said before you could always speak to the fraud squad. -
Well done, congratulations.

Is there any chance the controlling body of your state could be of any help ?. Lets face it this could happen to any breeder anywhere in Aust. I would be reporting it to them as a heads up as to what's happening.
