The number is the only number in all the advertising even in the Cattle Dog Club advertising web page. :) Phone numbers may be incorrect sometimes when peope change their phone number in the Queensland Dog Word as the type is set for 12 months.

Also in Queensland a high profile European store always had teather rings and a tap near by for the dogs that visited with their owners. Maybe if we became a more friendly dog country you people would not have a problem with it. We hear so much about Australia being a non dog friendly country and the minute a person tries to do a dog friendly thing,(maybe they brought their dog with them and are used to doing this) you the people who say you are aware of the unfriendly dog situation in this country are the ones complaining. You can't have it both ways. This is a normal situation throughout Europe. :)

I havent read all the posts but if go to England you see this all the time. It is an everyday occurance. I think many of you are just not used to seeing this.

I used it for quite some time with great results. My only problem was that I had to travell further than I really wanted to too purchase it. I changed over to the VIP grain free one that was easily purchased in Woolworths. The dog are doing just as well as when they were on the Wellness.

Taken from the original link. Tragically, Carnation's birth control dog food appears to have been torpedoed. It mysteriously and quite literally disappeared and has never been made available. (The New York Times article about Carnation's announcement can be seen at www.600MillionDogs.org). Maybe in the back of our minds we have an inkling why it was shelved.

Copied and pasted from another list. Unfortunately the new Board of Dogs Queensland wasted about five minutes of their time voting on whether or not they would second Mr Treacey's motion. There was no request or need for a seconder. As a Director of ANKC Limited, Mr Treacey is quite entitled to put any matters he sees fit before the Board in the form of a Motion for consideration without a seconder. (Confirmed by legal advice July 2011) This is exactly what he has done on this occasion. The motion now rests for voting in the hands of the 11 Directors to vote on, and to be passed, it needs to be agreed to by a majority of the 11 Directors who represent a majority of the 8 Member bodies. i.e by 6 Directors representing five Member Bodies. On this occasion I personally perceive this is not happening!!!

I have been asked by Mark Shepherd to pass on the following message from Dogs Qld We have been asked by Dogs Queensland General Manager - Rob Harrison to share the following message. Due to the severe weather conditions in SE Qld the late january 2013 meeting of Directors was rescheduled for last night. At that meeting the board decided to address the question of the Dogs Victoria Tail Docking immediately rather let the question wait until the normal meeting schedules for 25th february. On the question of whether DQ would second the Dogs Vic motion the response was a very clear NO. On the further question of whether (if the Dogs Vic motion did secure a seconder state and the motion was to be placed on the ANKC Conference agenda) DQ would vote in favour or against the motion the response was again a very clear NO. Rob has requested that members "please, please" stop sending petitons, emails etc so that the office staff can get back to their usual administrative duties. Congratulations to all those who expressed their thoughts and opinions so clearly to the newly formed Board of Directors - the board have taken your opinions seriously and have voted accordingly. Regards Ian Rasmussen Permission to cross post given.

Should You Breed, Does It Change A Male Dog
oakway replied to best4koda's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry but my first question would be....is your friends dog registered with the states controlling body and is your friend a member also. Is the bitch to be mated registered and is the owner of the bitch a financial member holding a registered prefix, if not the dog and bitch should not be used at stud. jmho -
Sheridan it would be highly unlikely that a dog would be illigally docked to get a better tail set. Tail set they are born with. Docking only shortens it. If it is a bad tail set it would not necessarily get any better by docking it. I do not own a docked breed but I do know that if one of mine is born with a bad tail set the tail would not improve by shortening it. :)

Could this contravene the Trade Practices act or the freedom of trade between countries. ? No you can still trade with them and haven't been restricted in that - you can also exercise your property rights and take your dog to another state or country and have a vet legally dock its tail - but if you then take it to a dog show you are guilty of a criminal act in Victoria - even though you have not committed any act of cruelty and it was done by a vet and as it is your property you have every right to take it to another place for vet treatment. Thank you, I was praying that was not the case. Buggar.

This is NOT about importing semen it is about a letter to be tabled at the ANKC that if passed "could" be the start of the end of some our breeds. (Some of us can pay as much to bring in semen as it nearly does to bring in the dog. The cost involved may be too great to pay all the costs involved and end up with only one pup in the litter and that may be only pet quality and have to go as a pet. In some cases it's far wiser to import the dog and use it when ever you have a bitch available).

My word program does this - looks to me that they copied it and pasted it . In all honesty the spelling is the least of the problems and now this document is out in the public arena whether the vote is a yes or no there will be repercussion not necessarily obvious now, way into the future. Yes, correct, copied and pasted. For gods sake who cares how the the spelling is, it's the words that will cause the problem not the spelling.

Thank you, I have been saying this for years.

Now hang on a minute, this is not a debate over Tail Docking. Tail Docking is illegal in this county and its Law. It was not the doing of the controlling bodies it was a Law made by the Government. What has been put, in a motion is, that no legally docked dog may be exhibited in this country in any ANKC sanctioned event. Now let me take this one step further, what if somebody places another motion asking for the banning of all Flat Faced Breeds??????. Lets go one step further again, what if a motion is placed asking that all dogs over 15 inches be banned from being shown and bred. Now don't tell me it won't happen, anything is possible. Now before you start pointing fingers at one another just think of the repercussions that could happen if this motion should happen to be passed, it will open a flood gate of possibilities.

23 January 2013 Ms T Barry Administrator Australian National Kennel Council Ltd PO Box309 Carina Q'Id 4152 Dear Tracey, Re: Tail Docking I, GRAHAM TREACEY, being a Director of ANKC Limited, hereby move a motion that any dog whelped on or after I July 2014 is ineligible for exhibition at ANKC approved events ifthe tail of the dog has been docked. . Rationale: Nori-coin Iiance. The ban on tail docking of dogs has now been in place in all States for many years and yet a significant number of docked dogs continue to be shown in all classes clearly demonstrating non-compliance with the bans. Some Member Bodies have procedures in place to preventthe registration and I or exhibition of illegalIy docked dogs but without effective enforcement measures such procedures are essentially ineffective. Some veterinarians have been confronted with cases where the majority of puppies in a litter have 'broken tails' - in one case eight in a litter often. Because of circumstantial evidence that dogs were being presented with del'berate Iy broken tails, one veterinary practice has invoked a policy of splinting and treating bro en tails in lieu of amputation in an attempt to deter such a cruel act. There are also repo s that some breeders are tying the PUPPY's tail back on itself I U shape l at birth and then several days later removing the tie just before presenting the puppy to the veterinarian with a 'crank tail'. Whilst it appears that members can 'thumb their noses' at the law, then more and more members will be tempted to follow theirlead. Didtion I ing CIS D The argument that Member Bodies are not responsible for enforcing civillaw will not endear us to the public orthe politicians. Members are expected to comply with the ANKC Code of Ethics and clause 2 of the Code states: 2. A member shall not engage in any behaviour that is contrary to the standards acce ted b the community. Any of the actions described above are in breach of that clause. Breach of ANKC Re ulations In ANKC Regulations Part 6 are the following regulations: Registration of Litters (05/05) Subject to 6.52, a litter must be registered In the State or Territory of residenc of the owner irrespective of where the pups are born. 6.52 Where a prefix is jointly owned, registered and maintained in more that(siC) one State or Territory, the litter must be registered in the Slate or Territory in which the pups are born. Regulation 6.5.2 provided a loop hole for some time where the law of one State was not as exactin as in other States and Territories. However, that loop hole has been closed and et litters continu to be registered across borders, even where the prefix is notjointly owned Iwhich contravenes 65.11. 6.5 65.1 New Zealand. Why does the ANKC condone the NZKC registering litters to an ANKC prefix where the ownershi of the prefix has a convenient NZ resident co- owner ? Again the Member Body is seen to be condoning a practice that has been declared ille aim Australia. Does anyone check that the puppies are in fact being imported from NZ ? Anyone with ex erience in importation will know that the Airway Bills and AQIS forms used are easily forged. Does the Member Bodies have suitably qualified I experienced administration staff able to detect forgeries ? The bans in Australia have been a financial gain for NZ breeders of docked dogs and this has impacted upon sales of those breeds in Australia. Level Ia in field Most of the exhibitors offormerly docked breeds believed that the European ex erience would be duplicated here in that in time judges would accept the fact and judge without re'udice. Clearl that is riot the case as many judges still overlook tailed dogs for docked dogs. Unfortunately for the confidence of exhibitors some judges have openly expressed 'that they still cannot accept' tails. At one major show during 201.2 the judge's remark "that he could not see himself ever puttin u a [breed] with a tail" was overheard by several exhibitors who [rightly!] considered that they had been defrauded. Most of the judges from the Americas, the Philippines and Japan demonstrate a distinct reference for docked over undocked, and as a result entries are affected. A level playing field does not exist, and will not untilthe Member Bodies recognise their responsibility to ensure members abide by the law of the nation. The UK took the step of nominating a date such as this motion does, and as a result the breeders I exhibitors of the docked breeds accepted the fact and there has not been any of the an st and conflict between exhibitors that is evident here. The law abiding breeders and exhibitors are entitled to be supported by the ANKC. Currentl th appear to be penalised while ever the ANKC continues to tolerate the exploitation of loop holes b some members. Signed: Date: 23 January 2013

Something a lot of people forget about that is very handy is a clear perspeks(sp) panels that can be attached to the inside to stop some males peeing on the dogs in the other pens. -

Main reg. papers in Qld. are red and Limited reg. are green. At the top you should have your name and address as the owner. To the right of this is a number. Then what follows is the dogs Registered name. The Breed The sex The date of birth. Then the colour. Below that is the sire with pedigree. Below that is the dam with pedigree Below all this is the name and details of the breeder. If you have all this then the dog is registered to you. If you only have the breeders name on it all the dog needs to be transferred into your name. In Qld the onus is on the seller to pay the transfer fee.
