  1. Ask in Breeders. By the way this is not an unusual problem. Makes you angry with them, but we have all suffered it at one time or another. Just make sure you keep them nice and warm, And just keep trying with the bitch.
  2. Depending on where you live , could it be the cold weather. Maybe you should rug them of a night time. You could always be like me and bring the dogs inside when its cold.
  3. Now that's a thought! Although, sweat is produce in glands isn't it... not pores??? Dogs sweat from theor feet I am sure... You and I sweat through the pores in our skin. Dogs do not have pores in their skin. Dogs sweat through panting and through their feet.
  4. Maybe you should all go back and read that article again. Since when did dogs have pores in their skin ?. Isn't this the reason they don't sweat through their skin ?.
  5. I would also be thinking Pancreatitis.
  6. Their is everything wrong with wheet bix and milk for a growing pup. The pup needs a balanced diet not pap. Try giving chicken necks or frames and top quality dry dog food. As soon as the pup comes back to a good weight maintain that amount till it's obvious the pup will require more. The pup would not receive milk from his mother at this age. Your pup may have an intolerance for the food you are using. Change it's diet slowly by mixing some of the new with the old so it does not upset it's stomach or the pup may lose more weight.
  7. I have clipped plenty of horses and dogs. I have used the Sunbeam horse clippers on the dogs and they are brilliant. Lets put it this way, I don't use the horse clippers on all dogs but I have on badly matted large ones. Makes life a lot easier.
  8. A rectal thermometer either digital or mercury. USA has a dog ear thermometer. Saw one advertised.
  9. Flax seed oil and Linseed oil are the same product. Just remember the Missing Link was taken off the market because of the amount of Linseed in it. It was linked to bitches having very small litters or not conceiving at all. Of course people may have exceeded the dose rate and caused their own problems. But I am sure it would have not been removed from the market without due concern.
  10. Find a more open minded vet that thinks more of his clients than his pocket.
  11. How about trying a red meat meal three times a day. Also add the BEST dry food to it. (If you are strapped for cash try Optimum) Some of my bitches get fed five times a day.
  12. Thank you. But you explain things better than I. Yes I was also told the same about irradiation. The amount of rads needed would kill the dog.
  13. Hi All, This is what I have been told about the titre test. When the results come back a vet, or health provider may say the the levels are low and possibly quite rightly so. This does not mean that the dog requires further vaccine administered. The low level is because the dog has not been in contact with or exposed to that disease. Should the readings be high, it only means that the dog has been exposed to the disease and the anti bodies in the system have multiplied and fought the disease the way it should. All I can tell you is what I have been told.
  14. So sad to read of the loss of your Prue. :D
  15. Garlic is in the onion family so therefore is not good for dogs. I have fed garlic to dogs. I was told it would get rid of flees. I fed those dogs garlic right, left and centre. Its a miracle I did not kill the dogs with garlic. Never did get rid of the fleas.
  16. If you have purchased off a reliable registered breeder that hold a registered prefix they will give you all the information that you require. Plus food for several days. One thing does concern me, ........most baby puppies are not vaccinated till 8 weeks by registered breeders. The baby puppy then does not become available till ten to fourteen days after that.
  17. It's not expensive, and comes in dry and wet.
  18. I would not be concerned about her going onto antibiotics. Many breeders put their bitches on a course of antibiotics about 12 to 14 days before the due date. (That doesn't mean I do).
  19. Excellent advise all round. Lets hope some people stop feeding the allergy introducing foods not suitable for baby puppies. (all grain type foods)
  20. Very, Very hard to get rid of yeast infection. Are you washing every day ?. Wash every day for a week, then every second day for a week, then every third day etc tills its gone. Also use in the ears. 30Ml in 500 ml of water and use as an ear wash. Don't forget between the toes, under the pads, under elbows, under the flanks and under the tail. Also don't be mean with the Malaseb. Leave on for 10 minutes, then wash off. Hope this is of help. Also follow above diet from Cavandra
  21. Rarely do I give my pups any form of milk. (I use to give lactose free milk) Not any more. I do keep milk supplements should their be a problem with the bitch. Please don't get worried over Salmonella. Dogs can't get it. Yes I know the vet told you yours/somebodies has Salmonella. Dogs eat petrified meat. Just think of all the country dogs that go roaming and eat the 3 day old dead roo's. (Yes in the middle of summer) I don't like driving pass them, yuck the smell alone. But see old farmer Brown's dogs tucking in for all they are worth. And no they haven't got Salmonella they are out working cattle the next day.
  22. My pups are weaned onto raw meat from about 3 weeks of age. Just pet mince from the dog food shop. At about six weeks they go onto the the $1 a kilo from chicken shop. With added chicken necks at one meal. I also add some soaked Optimum while they are little and slowly reduce the soaked till they just have dry Optimum mixed with mince.
  23. I have been led to believe that a lot of the American pro handlers carry bottled lemon essence and give that. Sorry have not been told the amounts, LOL, was told just tip the bottle down their throat.
