  1. Having worked in the industry for more years than I care to mention, yes I think they get far more attention than most believe they do. You have people coming and going all day every day. Dogs coming in and dogs going home. Staff collecting dog for bathing that are due to go home. Dogs being taken in and out for exercise/play time. Some dogs being attended to for various reasons. In a well run kennel there are things going on all the time.
  2. I would re consider using a boarding kennel. The boarding kennel situation would give greater contact with people than a back yard/home situation. Kennel staff coming and going, kennel inspections. I found it more interesting for the dog than being in a back yard/home situation.
  3. If this is of any help....I would suggest the heated pads that are used to heat water beds. Totally flat and fully heat adjustable. Much safer than a mass produced heated pet beds/pads.
  4. Great to hear. Dam knuckle bones they have a lot to answer for.
  5. I try to buy what fits in the washing machine best.
  6. If you are interested in the Vari Knls always look at the De Luxe ones, as they are so easy separate and so easy to pack in the car.
  7. I would suggest a wagon. Nothing better than a wagon with a divider if you have dogs.
  8. Is that directed at my reply? I was AGREEING with you ;) Doesn't negate the fact that the APBT Club of NZ would hold shows which drew a larger entry than any single breed NZKC show. Orrrrrr sorry, when you said nope I thought you were saying I was wrong. Bleeding puters, it can be difficult at times. ;)
  9. Only the American Stafford-shire Terrier is recognised by the NZ Kennel Club. I had a look at the site before I posted.
  10. I honestly believe that it will very difficult to purchase a puppy under 12 weeks in the future. Some ethical breeders are quite loath to let some breeds go under that age at the moment. If mandatory de sexing does come in, purchasers will not be seeing a pup in their home under 12 weeks.
  11. The American Pit Bull Terrier is not a recognised breed by the New Zealand Kennel Club.
  12. It is not necessarily the papers you are paying for in many cases its the quality of the dog. A main registered show perspective puppy are often charged more for than a limited registered pet quality puppy.
  13. Yes it can be fixed or removed. Your vet may want to give you a referral to a specialist.
  14. To be truthful there are times when I don't understand any of you. Shorly things have changed in Australia in regards to dogs for the better. Here we are trying to promote responsible pet ownership and improve the conditions for companion animals.
  15. What's harsh about it ? it's the truth. If you are not prepared to look after a dog and see to it's needs, don't get one. Why would you purchase a baby puppy and put it out side in the winter and then want to know how to stop it going on deck.
  16. Totally agree with the first statement! I think people like to have the dogs sleep outside (even if they are inside during the day) so they don't have to get up to toilet the dog/pup if required. Why get a dog in the first place if your not prepared to look after it.
  17. Well here goes,at least I tell the truth........ here goes. I breed horses, I ride and show horses and yes I have fed the the dogs horse. I have a friend that when one of the horses had to go, it was used to feed the dogs. Always remember death to one can be life to another.
  18. I just put the offending bitch in with another one for company and just don't let those two out with opposite sexes. edited to say the dogs are kenneled.
