Now my thinking caps on for who you are:-) It's always nice to get critiques done on the dogs at a Specialty.
-
Sorry I should have also said for anyone wanting to read individual dogs critiques or view full results these are posted on the Basenji Club of NSW website.
-
That's very kind of you Emery. Basenjis are in the Hound Group so being alphabetical judging they are the 2nd Breed on with just the Afghans before us. It's the baby bitches that I need handlers for. Are you and your friend there first thing though as Rotty's are on a lot later?
-
I have a few lovely baby Basenjis at the moment. I can't show them against each other unless I have handlers. Beginning with Hills KC Show. If you are interested in helping to handle a baby Basenji let me know:-)

WA Grooming Academy run some courses (they have a website) and so does TAFE.

Last week I travelled from Perth to Sydney for the Basenji Club of NSW Specialty. The judge was Dr J Opara (Poland) Basenji Specialist. Best in Show was my boy Ch Kanibaru Vanilla Fruche with his dam Ch Kanibaru Caramel Fudge awarded Reserve Challenge Bitch. Runner Up Best in Show was Ch Baagna Elofa Natural owned by Louise Marsden. Reserve Dog was Ch Bayenzi Harem Holiday owned by Carla Parr. The photo is of the BIS and R/up BIS winners. I'll post full results when they become available.

There are many different fly sprays on the market but if you know of one which works really well then I'd love to hear from you so I can buy a decent one.

Hi, I'm out of kennel disinfectant and my vet hasn't been able to get it in as yet. I've had F10SC before they they get Vira Clean. Anybody know where I can collect a good kennel disinfectant from. It needs to kill viruses. Thanks.

Canidae Grain Free Salmon Formula
Chocolate replied to Boronia's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
One of my older dogs seems to get a skin allergy reaction this time of year and I was already feeding Canidae Salmon to him and it has made absolutley no difference. -
Does anyone know what it costs to get an MRI scan done on a dog or if you have any idea of cost?

Mastiffs are guarding breeds and it is normal for them to display guarding behaviour on maturity but it is up to the owners to control who and what needs to be guarded, and to be able to switch off the guarding. From what you have said above, it is possible this dog thinks that your husband is pack leader but that he (the dog) comes next in the pack, ahead of you and the children. This causes him to believe he needs to protect you from everyone outside the family. I have seen this happen with many dogs and it is easily fixed with a small breed but this is a very large breed with the potential to do a lot of damage if not handled correctly. I agree that you need the help of a good behaviouralist immediately to assess this dog and work out if a shift in family pack structure would correct the behaviour or not. Dancinbcs has hit the nail on the head. Very sound advice.

He looks lovely and self stacks by the looks, is that right? A very proud looking boy! Congratulations.

This statement is far too simplistic. Not all puppies want to play. Even very young puppies can be aggressive.

I can't remember the exact figure but I think it was at about 70 that the cervix closes. So if she was 74 today and was mated yesterday you may have just got her on the tail end. I'm wondering why you didn't rely on the stud to tell you when she was ready but I suspect your other thread reveals this info.

Mine get Dr B's BARF pattie. I just open a pack and put a bit in a puppy bowl for them and let them pick away. It is more balanced than just feeding raw meat as it has ground bone and other ingredients in like fruits, veg, egg, etc. The milk they get from mum.

I've looked through the list and can't find anything on this but yesterday at the show we were asked to show our dogs own bite and when I asked some one about this I was told there is parvo around. I haven't heard anything about it so would like to find out how rife it is in Perth at the moment.

They Say If You Breed Long Enough You'll See Everything
Chocolate replied to winpara's topic in Breeders Community
Very interesting to read about this. The only thing that I first wondered - is it possible she was carrying maximum capacity and literally had to expel one to maintain pregnancy i.e overcrowded. Any idea how many she is carrying? -
At 10 weeks your baby is too young for formal classes. In our State pups can't enter canine grounds until 3 months and also your pup needs to have had all its shots so best to do practise at home for the time being.

Arnt they funny when they try and bark.. Very cute.. i never thought about putting a tedding in there with them thats a great idea.. anyone got any update photos? Im really enjoying my first litter.. i dont want it to end Yeah, Teamsnag, one barked for the first time the other day and Kitty (their mum) was straight to the box with a look of "what the???" on her face Ha, ha, now that's something I definately don't plan to hear from my litters!

Big litter coming up by the sounds of it Gelbregen. What colours do you have?
-
Newfiesrus sorry to read you had trouble and your girl had to be speyed. Glad you have her pups to continue on with. What would be an average weight for your breed out of interest?
-
Hah, hah, I just know Basenjis!! Congratulations on your new little family. I nearly did a post to warn you that they don't do the normal panting, etc of other breeds, just straight into giving birth although normally I see contractions happening but my girls usually produce the goods within very quick time from first contraction. That is wonderful 2 boys and 4 girls, very nice. So how long did her whelping take from start to finish? Can't wait to see your pics:-)

You'll be in the June thread with babies tomorrow

I didn't do any further posts last night as you guys had all gone to bed!! She had another two pups, both boys which gives us a good mix and I'm very happy. Mum is being an excellent mum and pups are all nursing and appear healthy. A bit of a noisy gang to begin with despite having heating - it was a very cold night. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and congrats to Karlmore. Lovely photo's Teamsnag, keep them coming.
