The green on the teeth will be plaque and if the breath is smelly the dog probably does have rotten teeth. It won't be gangrene.

Hi, I'd just like an idea of what people normally pay for a canine T4 and TSH test. I paid $100 plus consult at the vets but now have just received a bill for another $100 out of the blue which says it's for the TSH. So is that normal $100 for each lab test? Thanks in advance.

Interesting - I'm wondering why you changed from RC to EP. Royal Canin is superior.

I've always been a Proplan fan and was interested in the Selects range but I haven't been able to try it because I just haven't found it for sale anywhere yet. After the Origen scare I really took a good look at ingredients in products and Royal Canin which I'd never tried before came up very well in the ingredients list and in fact better than proplan so I gave it a go. So far I've been very pleased with it. It smells good. The dogs enjoy it. The other thing I really noticed is that the flies are attracted to it which I think is testament to the ingredients being mainly meat. The dogs seems to be holding good weight on it also.

Chicken Treats From China Beware

I was really surprised to see these still for sale in my local Woolworths store Christmas Eve. Was it only a certain batch recalled? -
Worms / Maggots Found In Lenards Chicken
Chocolate replied to Jessca's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You probably had maggots. If a fly laid eggs, it doesn't take long before they mature into fast growing maggots. Not nice for human grade food. -

Shouldn't Innova Evo have *NO GRAIN* next to it? -
May I ask what the Basenji is crossed with?

The WA owned Natural Balance is pretty shitty but they do have a range so you will get better ingredients in the super premium version. The kibble is flat little disks. The poo was pretty average. Nothing to write home about.

Does anyone know what a large 28lb bag of Evo costs out of interest? Thanks. -
JME, just be very careful about starting a puppy on glucosamine. I was told on good authority from a prominent Australian Vet that this supplement should NOT be given to puppies as it closes off capilaries in joints and you don't want this happening in a growing pup.

2 Of Our Pups Got Bitten By A Snake Today.
Chocolate replied to jeddica's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh this is so terrible. Even just one vial of antivenom may have been enough to pull them through $500-600. I recently rushed a 6 month pup to the vet's as soon as I saw the drooling from the mouth. Because I got her there so quickly one vial saved her life even though she had a lot of poison in her as she was off the scale. -
Why do you want to give this to a puppy?

Recovery From Brown Snake Bite

Best wishes for your dog's speedy recovery. I believe large quantities of Vitamin C can help detoxify the body after snake bite. -
Does anyone know the weight for a pack?

this link didn't work for me can you type out the web address. Also what was th price/kg? Please ignore above, I was some time posting due to a phone call and I see it's already been answered now.

Apart from being up side down it looks fine for a 12 year old licked clean girly.

I'm not sure that I'll bother buying it again. I've gone through two large bags but the dogs aren't particularly fussed on it. They'll often leave it even. I don't think it's as great as it's cracked up to be in all honesty.

Plush Puppy Herbal Whitening Shampoo
Chocolate replied to doggywoof's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi there, I notice you still havne't a reply so thought I would let you know that the whitening shampoo's do not damage the colour of the other parts of the coat but this is what you can do. Apply a whitening shampoo to the main white areas not worrying if some gets on the black/grey bits but then any large patches of say black you can they apply a black shampoo to prior to rinsing out the white. So the whites are protected from the white shampoo whilst you massage in black to the black areas and then just rinse out fully. Hope this helps. -
I would like to start professional maintenance on my young dogs as you say before it's broken but don't know who is best for this as there are several names coming up. I'd like to get spine and muscles checked. Any suggestions appreciated?

Which one of these people do you think would be best for just a general check over on young 1 year old dogs to ensure everything is in alignment and correct? Spine and muscles.

Can You Feed Tuna Instead Of Sardines?
Chocolate replied to ~Aimee~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've been buying canned sardines because there are no fish shops nearby to get fresh. The price of the generic brands are much cheaper but then the other day when I picked up a pack of three generic brand I noticed product is from Thailand. I looked at the more expensive Brunswick and they are from Canada. Having been to Thailand and Canada and seen the waters I much prefer to give my dogs the Canadian produce, the waters off Thailand are just a big rubbish bin of waste. -
In my grooming area I have put a double decker trolley cage. I bought the large size so plenty of room to put a small or big dog in. So if I had two at the same time I could put the big dog in the bottom cage and lift the little one up into the top cage. They are on wheels and have breaks so you can move easily for cleaning or anything. You can buy them on ebay.
