  1. Parvo and distemper get done here in Perth. Hepatitis still goes to UK unless has changed in last few months. Had my boy done in March this year cost was $120-$130ish for all three.
  2. Sorry kneecole I have nothing to contribute other than I hope your boy is ok. This was a long thread about rat bait poisoning which may be of some help http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...ic=55095&hl
  3. Loraine your vet is possibly suggesting cooking the roo to expell the fat from the meat and/or kill any bacteria in the raw meat. For this 3 week period you should also stop any supplementation youre giving your dog if you want to be strict about an elminination diet.
  4. Is she holding her ears differently to normal? I'd be inclined to say ears too. Have you got some proper ear cleaning solution you can use to flood the ear canal and help dislodge any possible wax build ups?
  5. I have this book 'Canine Massage - a complete reference manual' by Jean-Pierre Hourdebaigt 2nd edition published June 2004. Excellent book with lots of images and illustrations. Having also performed Bowen therapy on my boy, being instructed by a qualified Bowen practioner to do so, seeing how precise you have to be and knowing you have to use your hands 'just so', I think a hands on course is the winner every time.
  6. My boy has mild snow nose every winter. Is it a problem if you don't treat it?
  7. For eye lubrication I have used Lacri-lube (for humans) from the chemist. Cost is $18.00 for two small tubes. My boy had entropion and I needed to reduce irritation of lashes rubbing on eye ball pre surgery.
  8. The best I can get out of Raf is a whimper on command He only ever barks as a watch dog. The door bell makes him bark, but I don't want to encourage him to do that.
  9. I feel your pain TJ. My boy Rafael who turns 2 in a few weeks has medically diagnosed IBD, food intolerances to 6 protein sources that I know of and medically diagnosed atopic dermatitis with very strong allergies to 20 odd grass, tree and weed pollens and creepy crawlies. His problems started when he was 13 months old. Currently I have Raf stable on a home cooked diet of kangaroo meat and vege. He eats huge quantities of food everyday just to maintain weight. He is currently a very fit and healthy 23/24ish kgs but got down as low as 18kg in January/February this year. Unforunately Raf's system is unable to tollerate the immunotherapy to increase the resistance to his atopic allergies. I am very fortunate I am able to manage his condition/s through diet and antihistamines and not cortizone.
  10. I wouldnt be too concerned but expect some very oily poos to follow. Call your vet tho for peace of mind
  11. When I was feeding them to Raf he had two per day, one morning and evening with a small bone once a day and/or an egg, sardines etc thrown in too. He is 23kg. Very active and always hard to keep weight on so one patty on its own just not enough.
  12. Their rates are ridiculous! Or maybe thats just to west coast?
  13. Malaseb as ear cleaner = amazing I have been using Epi-otic with Raf's ears since he was a pup. He has always hated it, ran away when he saw me coming plus it seemed to result in more wax in ears a day or two after cleaning. Not only is he non-plused by the Malaseb but his ears are fantastic a few days later. Wish I had heard of this sooner!
  14. Thanks Mel! Don't suppose you recall the name of the formula? I will give my vet a call early next week to get some in for me. RC Australian website isnt much good as it doesnt have a full ingredient list for every product. I can see a Vegeterian formula on their US site, not sure if its the same one? White and mint green packaging.
  15. Weekly with Malaseb and Epi Soothe conditioner.
  16. Gracie thanks so much for that ingredient list - all novel proteins! Sheridan, Natural Pet Store is operated by DOLer Hesapandabear if you want to PM.
  17. Glad she is feeling better I've used both Bowen therapy and chiro on my boy with great results. Natural therapies could certainly give your girl some relief. How about a hot water bottle or wheat pack on her shoulders when she settles down on her bed for a kipper?
  18. Jules, thank you. I am intruiged by Phuds, sounds very interesting. I shall look into it S&T sorry don't mean to preach This kibble thing is driving me round the twist and I can't help but whinge
  19. S&T the problem isnt so much availability its more that these companies - say Eukanuba - wack pork fat in with their 'novel formula'. I don't get it?? Why bother - sticking the regular protein fat in there? Z/D is also out for us as Raf's system still can't tolerate the hydrolised chicken protein. Z/D is only effective for about 70% of dogs. Hills make 4 D/D formulas - vension, lamb, egg and 1 more? - and put pork in all of them. Drives me insane!!!
  20. Unfortunately the Bonnie Working Dog has chicken and beef too, which rules it out for Raf as he is intolerant to both those proteins. S&T while Eukanuba make Kangaroo and Potato they also add pork fat which rules that one out too so no point importing. Eagle Pack Duck formula contains chicken so another no go. The EP Anchovy formula has just 3 types of fish protein - that one is still on my very limited list of kibbles to try. Also holding hope for ZiwiPeak venison until I can read a full ingredient list. By all means throw in other suggestions if you can suggest a kibble without chicken, turkey, pork, lamb, beef or veal. I would love to hear it!!!!
  21. Still on my quest for a suitable kibble for Raf ;) I see Eukanuba in the US have released one with kangaroo - like their fish and potato. Seems to be the only one I can find - link Anyone know of a kibble with kangaroo as the primary protein source available here in Oz?
  22. Raf has a 'special' thing just for duck poo Smeared it all down the side of his face last time he went rolling in it ;)
  23. Doesn't matter what he's had in the past. He's at the prime age to develop food intolerances. Could be anything at all - chicken or beef. What's the protein source in Nutro? Had a massive colitis flare here overnight. Vomitted three times, pooing blood and refusing to eat. Dandy
