  1. Yes but don't go overboard. Pumpkin is a great laxative!
  2. See how you go. 2mg Polaramine is probably the weakest antihistamine on the market. If it doesnt work try another brand with a larger amount of active ingredient. My boy gets 10mg Claratyne twice a day. Polaramine does bugger all for him.
  3. Brooke curious to know what ratio of Malaseb you are using?
  4. Ptolomy I would be really interested to hear the results of your follow up testing. Please let us know when you have it done.
  5. I had my boy tested at Murdoch Derms here in Perth. He tested strong positives (scores 3 or 4) to 20 different substances. There basically isn't one substance he didnt react to on some level. His 1st dose on the first vial made him sick for a few days. The 2nd dose on the first vial made him even sicker for close to a week and I stopped. Restarted a week later on the first dose and he was sick all over again. It was far too much for his system to handle. Derms offered to make me an even more diluted mix but I declined. I can manage his atopic dermatitis through daily antihistamines. Long term the cost of the immunotherapy is probably on par with the antihistamines so I'm happy to just stick with that.
  6. Bloss had Leah eaten the Jointguard within 15-20 mins of her reaction? Anaphylactic reactions occur very quickly. If not I would say fairly certainly it was a bite/sting. How is she doing today?
  7. Scary stuff, yep you to speak to your vet about adrenalin. Rafael has extreme allergic reactions, not anaphylactic thank god. He developed a habit for chasing wasps and bees at 11 months. He had 3 stings in 5 days and broke out in hives with all the toxins in his body. I have cortisone on tablets on hand for him but you really need an instant relief if Leah has such strong reactions. Any idea what stung her?
  8. Flexicose is available in Australia by mail order http://www.flexicose.net.au/
  9. Having used both I would try bowen therapy before I went chiro. PM me if you would like a contact for bowen.
  10. I am a bit of a worry wort so for peace of mind I would go sooner rather than later, just in case antibiotics are in order. It looks very tender
  11. MD you can use a regular people antihistamine for treating your dogs allergies. The red polaramine is 6mg. If you already have the pink polaramine you could try one in the morning and one at night so 4mg per day. If no effect try a red polaramine 6mg tablet once per day. If still no effect experiment with different antihistamines with stronger active ingredients. I use claratyne, active ingredient is 10mg lortadine (sp?) which my boy gets twice a day. Polaramine had bugger all effect on him.
  12. Which is just the reason why I dont use it PF
  13. MD up the dose of antihistamines and back down on the cortizone. Mine has very bad atopic dermatitis and has two claratyne tablets a day. What colour polaramine are you using - pink or red? Compared to others Polaramine is a low dose antihistamine. As others said you also need to up omega 3 and 6s. The dermatology specialists normally recommend a fish oil (regular 120/180 DHA/EPA ratio) plus an evening primrose oil supplement.
  14. Protexin norskgra could do the trick for you. You will probably be able to get some off your vet. Personally I prefer a refrigerated probiotic. I get the Nourishing Flora brand from the health food store.
  15. KitKat mine hasn't eaten bones in over 12 months on his special roo, carrot, zucchini diet. Gut/bowel is far too sensitive with food intolerances and ibd. To be honest not sure he will again anytime soon either. His teeth are just fine, has plently of rubber toys to keep them clean.
  16. Not sure about the zinc Kristie but I would say 1 fish oil capsule per day should be fine for Mitchi. If you wind up with the runs then the dose is too much and you will need to reduce it.
  17. We are all in here M&C http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=105829 I'm sorry I have no experience to help you with the fsf but others do.
  18. Mine vomits the following morning after Drontal or Proheart given the night before with dinner. He has eosinophilic ibd so in his case he is very sensitive and I attribute the reaction to that.
  19. I say its the wormer. I have a frequent vomitter who normal vomits the morning after a wormer or heart wormer - yellow bile vomit. Too much of a coincidence if it happens after every time you worm.
  20. Peibe sending prayers and positive thoughts from over west. Probiotics would be good to sooth her tummy. Ive found they work best given toward the end of the meal. Would be a good time for yogurt/cottage cheese too. Easy to digest in belly and bowel. Poor girl, she must be breaking your heart to see.
  21. I am also interested, speficially in the Fish and Chips formula. Actually I would be interested in any formula containing no chicken, pork, turkey, beef, lamb or veal.
  22. Got those stomach results back yet peibe?
  23. Probiotic capsules always help Raf during a flare up so I would keep them on the yakult for awhile. Could you try them on some natural yogurt or cottage cheese? Easy to digest and has a little bit of fat to help with weight. If Jewel has a belly rash would some antihistamine help? Antihistamine has a positive effect on Raf with the digestion - sort of keeps the allergies and whole system in check. Fingers and paws crossed at this end peibe. You must be really stressed to see them both so unwell
  24. If I was in your shoes I would be organising a visit to a bowen therapist or chiro asap. You need her neck looked at thoroughly. Anti-inflam shot may reduce swelling but there could be something out of alignment. She sounds like there is something not right if she is still holding her head up after an anti-inflam shot. I wouldnt take the chance personally.
