  1. no you made heaps of sense I have given them chicken frames before, they love them I'm lucky though as they love EVERY food! Including the offal! You have given me some great ideas, I feel much less confused I have tried to read some books and sites before and just end up more confused Bel
  2. Wth the frames, you give them chicken frames? That is a great idea to give them that every day with their meat They gulp everything in 2 seconds flat! and often bring their necks back up for another go I give them liver, kidney, tripe every week to 2 weeks, I should mix it up a bit more i think Maybe part of a frame or some necks (or wings, more bone?) with their meat/veg mix, and a can of sardines or some offal everyday instead of having certain days for things I think I think it is beef that the meat/veg mix is, I've never actually asked the guy, it's somewhere that the breeder always goes and I just continued with it, that's really bad huh?! I will ring him and ask Raw feeding is really confusing but what you've told me really makes sense and it really really helpful to me, thankyou so much
  3. Great thanks for that It is a different site than the one I thought but I think t ehother one was one that you had said about either here or on bbo (unless I'm getting you confused with the wrong person ) Looks good though Their poo is lighter than noraml after the necks day but not really hard Maybe I will spread it out and see if it makes a difference They have sardines for dinner no probs, so will grab the mixed fish oil I think maybe the chain does cause the problem, I have ordered yesterday some limited slip collars for training so will be interesting to see if it makes a difference Do you think they need more bone? I get paranoid with bones, as Eddie ate a marrow bone a few months back, and spent the next day throwing bits of it up, and straining, scared the bejesus out of me Thanks for your help, sorry I'm asking so many questions!
  4. With the fish oil, is that just the one you can get at the supermarket?
  5. They get 1.5 kg between them on the chicken neck day I think I joined up that raw site a while ago, I will check it out again Maybe I only notice it on the day after swimming as it is obedience and they have their chains on?
  6. I like this thought! You will still cry, but let them be happy tears over what you had together
  7. They have completely raw food 2 days raw mince and vegies, 3rd day chicken necks and one day a week of sardines in oil Does that sound OK? They are shiny as, and always get comments on their coat, it just seems that for a day or two after swimming they get scurf
  8. Lisa, robbo's have the black dog agility leads I saw them yesterday
  9. Just had to add before i go to bed that I got Eddie doing a high wave!!! I am very new to dog training so this is a buzz for me!!! Sorry to go on and on about it!!!!
  10. Yeah Eddie is a ball of muscle! I didn't realise til I looked at the pics how cute it is that Molly's little white paw is waving!!! lol Feral pup, I will attempt to explain how! I am bad at explaining things so forgive me if it is confusing If your pup already knows high 5 then you are 90% of the way there I used a clicker, and treats and I sat on the ground in front of her and picked up her paw, ct (click & treat) then when she was picking up her paw, I put my hand under it so she was tapping or pawing at my hand then once she had that I lifted my hand higher up til it was the height in the pics and she was pawing my hand at that height (I think your pup would be starting about here if she knows high 5) then I stood up and did it and gradually moved my hand up higher so it was at my waist and she was pawing the air I ct every time her paw comes off the ground at the start, and then once she was pawing I ct for every high paw lift, so she learned to lift it higher to get a treat This is when I started saying wave and putting a wave signal to it, once she had learned the behviour, so now it is "wave" and a wave hand signal from me standing up We went through a hell of a lot of treats to get it, but that is the best way imo, as she thinks it is great fun and she is food obsessed so it is sure to work! She'll do anything for food! Hope that makes some sort of sense! I don't know if this would be the "correct" way to teach it. I looked to see if dunny brush had it and kind of varied the teaching for shake but it worked at least! Now I've just got to get Eddie doing it!
  11. I taught Molly to wave this arvo She learns everything so quick, she is a clever little girl Eddie waving, he takes longer to learn and his wave is still only a paw lift But he has lots of energy for things like this!!!
  12. Ah yep that would not be what I want then!!! lol I was thinking it would be good watered down and sprayed on, but not by the sound of that I will look at the dermcare too Thanks
  13. yeah its dandruff around the neckish area I looked at the aloveen too, and thought it would be good How does it add to the problem? Does it make it worse?
  14. Thanks hesa, that's great! I will have a look for it
  15. I was just wondering for those of you with short coat dogs, what you do for scurf? I was just checking out the plush puppy site, looking for a spray on conditioner type thing that could help, as I don't bath them very often and don't want to either but find the swimming pool (they swim once a week) gives them a little dandruff ,mainly only around their necks I have been lucky and neither of them have many allergies and don't really ever smell much so bathing doesn't need to happen very often for them (unless they find a mud puddle at training!!! lol Can anyone recommend a spray on type thing? Are human spray on conditioners ok? Or are they too harsh? Maybe watered down Any ideas? Thanks guys
  16. Anne I think she looks good Don't worry so much! I know it's different breed of dog but Eddie has always been slim, no matter how mych we feed him, some dogs are just like that, especially greys as they are not a chubby dog
  17. I wouldn't ever take them out after their first vaccs We did start Eddie at obedience 1 week after his 2nd vaccs though, however we waited until his 3rd to take him to other places, more public places, and when he had his 3rd vaccs we missed a class of obedience as as far as i understand their immune system is down after a vaccs (like us after a flu shot, can get sick, or symptoms at least) We considered it a justifiable risk and we talked to the vet about it before we did it
  18. lol Rebane, my hub would love that beer trick!!!! I think I will teach her to close the door, she would like it I'm sure!!!
  19. She taught herself how to bash them open!!! lol Just need to teach her to close! :D
  20. I was very proud of myself! Are the frog clickers the ones we had when we were kids, those metal things in the shape of a frog? :D How cute!!!
  21. I have the same problem with the two! When they hear click, they crack it if they aren't the one being trained! lol I taught Molly to touch an empty squeezy sauce bottle last night and then I put it on the ground and she nudged it over Then I put her in a sit stay and put it a metre from her and she walked over to it and nudged it over It was so cool!!! So now she targets my hand, the stick and the bottle, yay!!!
  22. HI! My boy fractured all the sesamoids in his paw and he had similar symptoms to you, on again off again limp, mainly after resting We still don't let him run freely for too long, or take him on long walks on the footpath, etc We do take him to swimming every saturday which he loves, and because there is no stress on his leg he doesn't pull up limping after We didn't get xrays for a while, they put him on rimadyl for a while and then we tried complete rest for a few weeks, but after the xrays the vet showed us all the fractures and said that it can and probably will flare up from time to time Every time he plays too much and limps I feel like a bad mum, and everytime I put him back on his lead at my friends after he has been running up and down the decking I feel like a bad mum But I'm not And neither are you! Let us know how the xrays go :D
