When we brought Eddie home at 8 weeks we brouht him home on friday night I had mon tues and wed off work and he was in his run with a cubby house and a cushy bed whilst I was at work The first 2 days i came home at lunch and from the next week on he was out by himself He has no sep anxiety and is very well adjusted, we just made sure the time at home that we spent with him was quality time We were the first people that his breeder had ever sold a dog to that worked full time I can understand peoples issues with leaving them, but to say that someone who works full time should not have a dog is not fair either If someone is going to mistreat their dogs it will happen whether or not they work IMO (and it is only MO nothing more)
-
Yeah we use toilet If they don't go, I figure they just don't need to go, can't correct them if they have an empty bladder Did anyone hear the guy on Nova this morning talking to the blind guy with a guide dog? They say quick quicks to them
-
We have floorboards, its great, but the carpets in the bedrooms get a little dirty (no worse than my mechanic husband does though!!!)
-
Yeah my two don't smell doggy or make the hopuse smell doggy, and they only get bathed every couple of months, they aren't really a smelly breed
-
My 2 are outside in their run which includes the laundry while we are at work every day, which is about 9 hours While we are home they are inside and they prefer it inside anyway (they have a doggy door to ther run, but only go out to go to the loo)
-
Oh yeah I meant to add that! With walking every couple of days, training twice a week, swimming and socialising, they are out all the time with us
-
Do you mean a unit/apartment in a block, ie no yard space at all ect? We live in a unit with a smallish back yard but it's basically a house on a subdivided block so no real difference to being in a "normal" house on a small block
-
Little Loch I'm so sorry for you both, he was such a sweet little powder puff, I was lucky to have met him
-
Hahahaha!!! Good luck You may be able to train them whilst you are outside with them, by putting them on the blue couch and praising and maybe treating them eveytime they get on the other one but that would mean supervising them every minute they are out there until they know Be careful if they can't reach their couch yet though, if they manage to get up and jump off it they could hurt themselves *picturing the pups going to their couch whilst you are around, and jumping on the other one as soon as you turn your back hehehe*

Oh no TD!!!!
-
Suppose you can't put mustard on your clothes and shoes huh?!!!
-
@ cyclone Bruno!!! We call Molly Destructo Dog or Molly Maniac!!! She is the same, and funny enough has also broken into the house a few times!
-
Oh it was needle! I didn't know they could do sprays Do they do the sprays if they've had c3 then?
-
Yeah they had their vaccs which covered kc What is a nasal coverage?
-
Yeah - I'm silly that I didn't think about that when I think its the reason for my other thread in training about Eddie not sleeping through the night too! *slaps self in the head!!!* BP, glad you got a naughty one too My friends were always annoyed with us when we got Eddie cos he has been a pretty good pup really, but now we have Molly too they are double trouble, I think all those friends wished our devil girl onto us!!!
-
Lablover yeah they have been home with kc They are normally out walking or training or swimming pretty much every day, have been trick training with them a bit but not like normal BP, I might get some of the big chews for him, he is probably just looking to be doing "something"
-
Don't think its teething as he's almost a year old now, but its a good idea though Maybe its an attention thing? He is a massive sooky lala
-
Lately, the last week or so, Eddie has been chewing in the door frames and my desk etc I have no idea why he is doing this, it's not something he has ever done before One of the spot he was doing it is in the laundry and has been repaired with putty, after one of them (I assumed Molly at the time) chewed it already So I thought well maybe its the putty, but then he just walked up to me at the computer desk leant on me and started gnawing on the desk I have bitter spray so I might spray the frames with that In the mean time anyone got any theories on why? Other than that he is a stafford of course He has never really been a chewer like this

What Do You Pay For Your Obedience Training?
shoemonster replied to Rom's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Oh yeah and we don't pay for extra dogs But as Canine Coach said they own their grounds, and thats why we can use it all the time too -
What Do You Pay For Your Obedience Training?
shoemonster replied to Rom's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
$70 single or $95 family per year 1st year $45 single or $65 family subsequent years and $3 a class If I train both dogs on the one day I only pay for one We have family membership, as OH normally trains one while I have the other, so we pay for 4 classes a week We have 24/7 access to fully fenced grounds which imo is worth it even without doing any classes -
Thanks ;) I can't use a dumbell cause I don't have one, but I have got them mouthing now which is great
-
Hey, for those who have used the shirley chong method, and have dogs who have been taught to target, how do I get them to mouth the dumbell? I have only started this today but think I am going to have a small problem My two will only nose it, as they have been taught to target, should I smear food on it or something? (I am not using any cue either, they just know they aren't meant to grab things) They are reliable with nosing it but I don't know how to get that next step ??? Maybe I need to tease then with it or something to get them more obsessed with wanting it? Its not a dumbell but a soft toy with a plastic band arouind the middle, which was a play toy but i will now take it away and put it somewhere they can't get it unless I let them Thanks

My Staffy Has Dry And Itchy Skin
shoemonster replied to Tessa Bell's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Zayder and someone else told me about keri oil, which you can get at the chemist, for scurf (dry neck skin) so it might be ok to try It's in with all the itchy skin non-soap soaps at the chemist like qv and similar It's very gentle -
Cool, so use that and move your hand higher so he has to lift his paw up higher so he is waving :p
-
I'd start by attempting to take his paw like with paw but not giving him a cue, and instead of grabbing his paw, keep your hand just away from it, so he is lifting it attepmting to give it to you, and by default waving Once he is doing that then give him a wave cue Dunny Brush or some others will probably explain it heaps better than me!
