Thats one thing I've never had a problem with, they eat all of the food no matter what it is, cos they are little piggies!!!

I did that at first and now I just hand it to them and they eat the whole thing

Good: - Love the grounds, 5 acres fully fenced, available 24/7 - Met some great people - Some fantastic helpful trainers who will give you their opinion, not necessarily the "clubs" opinion Bad - Large class sizes - Some instructors still teaching 20 year old methods (though it seems the longer we are there, the more they will let you do your own thing, I use lots of treats, and had a fantastic talk with an amazing instructor last night about it) - The usual clicky group that bitch about everyone else (I'm sure every club has these)

Used a short coffee table last night, (instead of a place board as it was available!) and just did drops to stand and only ct'd for a straight drop (which most of them were as there wasn't much room on the table) Started in front then moved to heel position, they have picked it up pretty quickly, so I think a few more night of this and it will start to look a bit better

Yeah I spend 90% of my home time with the dogs I take them to training wednesday and sundays, I do freestyle with Molly which was on Mondays and the OH walks Eddie I walk them in the mornings, play with them and do little bits training and trick training at night I take them swimming just about every saturday, and to friends places for plays with other dogs If we go to my mum's for dinner they come If we go to the shops, or for a drive etc, they come with us! We are going away this weekend, we are going to best friends retreat, so the dogs can come with us! I couldn't bear the thought of going without them If we go out at night on the weekend, I take them for a run around or a long walk earlier, etc I think though I work full time my dogs probably wish their annoying mum would just leave them alone :p I think I am completely addicted to them And then there is work, during which I keep checking in here to learn more about them and for them! :p I was even looking into webcameras, so I could keep an eye on what they are doing during the day! I think it would be boring as I'm sure they have learnt to sleep so they have the energy for when we are home

Thanks DM I know what you mean - and I guess its a lot to do with the personality of the dogs as well as the owners

In fact this thread turned me into a looney! I recommend to everyone I know to get a rescue, I think I just got upset that people may think I am a bad owner (and I know no one said that but just didn't want anyone to think it :p )

Thats why when we got Eddie the breeder said that she never normally sells to people who work full time, and had never done it before, but she had decided that she was happy with what we would give him and the care we would give him so she let us have him anyway I spoke to her nearly every day for 7 weeks (via email and msn - I'm not a stalker!!! :p ) and we visited him 1-2 times a week til he was old enough to come home She was over the moon with us showing that type of commitment before we had gotten him and knew she had made the right decision, and we still see her now so she has never regretted it I know that not all people will be like us, it's just its such an individual thing I am blubbering on now, sorry, but just wanted to say my side of it Thanks :p Belinda ETA Oh and I think rescue is extremely important too, I don't have any problem with older dogs being rescued, all my cats are from shelters as adults and Molly though she was 8 months when we got her, was a rescue too - she was given up as her owners had realsied they had made her a backyard ornament and she was alone 10-12 hours a day 7 days a week - the husband was in care as he was sick and the wife was out with him, only home to sleep, she should not have been there, so I do see both sides of it

Ish not that old really! After todays class I think Molly will take years to get anywhere Its funny though as she zoomed throgh all the beginners and she learns very quickly but she just doesn't like to heel............at all! Ah well they are good for our patience

lol!!! I don't mind you going OT!!! I know I don't walk straight either, I had an op on my left knee which was pretty full on and I haven't really regained full balance which means if I'm not looking where I'm going I veer to the side!!! Oh, Molly was an absolute terror this morning at training, combination of being too excited to be back and we were running late so jumped out of car ran through gate and into class and then somehow expected her to be calm! Also another dog lunged and bit her on the face when we were walking to class Didn't hurt her but upset me alot Won't be rushing so much next time though! Even if we are late, I will slow down and let her sniff around abit and then go into class late and get half a good class!

Trained with Stella yesterday Showed her Eddie's drop and he swings his hips as he goes down, so worked at dropping on place board and much better results Next was Molly, as she did a perfect drop everytime so couldn't even show her what the problem was! lol Did some stays for little Connor and after telling Stella that Eddie was pretty solid on his stays he broke every single time, though it was their first outing in 3 weeks after having kc so they were a little excited Worked lots on recall and they were pretty good really! Both jumped in the dam, Molly flew off the edge after the geese and tried to swim after them, silly girl The ride home with them on the bench seat of oh's ute was a smelly one, ewwww Spoilt lab, that sounds like a good idea too, will try it, but he normally swings his hips towards me, not the other way

Some great suggestions, thanks I will take them into consideration and I'm training tomorrow with stella so she can see what they are doing from an outsiders perspective too They are dropping from a stand and the reason I want it straight is just for obedience and I figure better to correct it now while they are young!!! After talking about drive and fast drops, Eddie does much better this way, Molly is still a little too flakey to control herself!!!

Can anyone give me some tips for straightening drops? My two both do a lazy drop, with legs out to the side I can't click for a good one and not for a lazy one as they never do a good one! lol
